WigglyJoe Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 I think it'll become more than a minor quibble once you progress further. For me, the only bad thing about the game is how tedious and repetitive the combat is. It's bad enough you have to fight the same bosses over and over, but it's made worse by the fact you keep getting the same QTEs and patterns of attack. It's great that the fights are now one-on-one, as it makes the fighting less of a distraction from the exploring, but with the boss fights it becomes clear that the engine has a lot to be desired.
WigglyJoe Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Well, there's a boss at the end of each world, so that's quite a bit of action. Not overwhelmingly so, but when it's so boring to play it adds up. Personally, I wish they had the guts to have a game that is void of any combat. There has yet to be a perfect Prince of Persia game thanks to the fight mechanics - just ditch it.
Pit-Jr Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 Just played a good chunk of this on my brothers 360. Its like Mario Galaxy without the fun objectives. I did enjoy the humorous banter between Elika and Drake....err The Prince though
Chris the great Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 i didn't mind the combat. its widly slated but for me it was fun.. kinda easy but getting a good combo going felt good.
Jimbob Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 As far as i can remember, i'm about halfway through the game. Currently have 2 of the 4 powerpads activated and am working through each section of the corrupt world. Really need to play more of this, its next on the list after Nuts and Bolts is done.
MATtheHAT Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Unlike what i can say for games like Dead Space which i had to force myself to finish. I was the other way round, I loved Dead Space and could not put it down, even going through it a second time to pick up the Trophies. I am about half way through Prince of Persia and just can't be arsed.
ViPeR Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Surprised anyone enjoyed this game so much. I noticed it does seem to hemorrhage achievements.
Ryan Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Finished it. One of the best games this generation. The ending was brilliant. Might do a trophy run soon as an excuse. The game is just so good. I would of done a trophy run if I could replay the game without starting from stratch, really pissed me off.
Chris the great Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Yeah this game has alot of annoying trophies. which is why id ecided ot just enjoy the game. Aiming for trophies on your first run is counter productive to enjoying the game. agreed. play first for fun, then collect trophies/acchivments after. if my intial play style isnt natural, im screwing myself over. why pay £40 for somthing if my only goal is to meet a ,lsut of criterea?
tapedeck Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Finished it. One of the best games this generation. The ending was brilliant. Might do a trophy run soon as an excuse. The game is just so good. Ok...trust gained. It's now on my list of games to get. With it already being around the 20 notes mark I'll wait a bit longer and I'll get it even cheaper. Probably 5 pounds cheaper :p
Portlett Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it, it is indeed a great ending also.
Chris the great Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 ive lent it to a mate. hopefully he'l play this. unlike mgs4, which he hasnt touched, but held onto for months.
Chris the great Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 im hoping that cos pop is like, 8 hours long, he wont have a problem.
Ryan Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Hmm..the DLC could be interesting. I'll hold off buying it straight away and see what people say, I'm not overly desperate to play POP at the moment.
Dog-amoto Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Am I the only one who thinks this game is truly awful? I bought it based on great reviews and the fact that I loved Sands of Time and I think it's one of the most turgid, repetitive steaming piles of shit I've ever had spinning in my disc tray. So far, the game has been - go somewhere, climb a tower, fight a boss, thrash the Y button, collect light seeds, lather, rinse repeat. The fighting is horrendous, a real step back from Sands of Time. It's now become a real chore to explore the worlds. I actually half enjoyed the game when I first switched it on, but I feel the same way about it than I do with Assassin's Creed. I was going to smash it up and then set all the pieces on fire. But then I realised that trading it in would be a better idea.
Cube Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I actually half enjoyed the game when I first switched it on, but I feel the same way about it than I do with Assassin's Creed. I felt exactly the same.
Pantsu Man! Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 After defeating one of the corrupted I need 1 more Light seed to unlock the next plate thing. I know where there are about 8 of them but I cannot see anyway of getting to them. 2 of them are near the top of a pillar which wall climbing won't make me reach and I can't see any other way of getting them. I don't understand.
Cube Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Also, you'll need to commit suicide to collect some of them.
Jimbob Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Prince of Persia DLC is up on XBLA now, currently downloading it Contents New explorable area called "The Underground Palace, New Skins where you can use the early Prince and Elika models, A new Elika power, More cunning enemies etc. Cost: 800 points
Chris the great Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 i considered buying the dlc, but my mate has POP off me for the moment. good thing really, cant afford to buy the dlc right now.
Jimbob Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 I'm going to give the DLC a go later tonight, didn't have the chance to go on POP last night, was a tad busy with other things. Still havn't beat the game yet, which this may give the incentive for me to beat it finally.
Daft Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Currently got this on rent. I'm enjoying it but I'm just not finding much motivation to play it.
Aimless Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Currently got this on rent. I'm enjoying it but I'm just not finding much motivation to play it. I see it as a relaxation game a bit like Noby Noby Boy, something consequence-free and untaxing that helps me unwind. As for the DLC, I'd recommend people hold off in the hope of a price cut. The content isn't bad but I do think it's overpriced, especially as it doesn't really extend the ending much; the Epilogue is really more of an interlude as it lacks any sense of closure.
Daft Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Yeah i loved it first time but something about it just really grabbed me for some reason! Now i dont know if i should get the dlc or tophies... Yeah, I enjoy it when I'm playing it. I'm just never thinking I really want to play it. I never look forward to it but it is fun when I am playing it. I see it as a relaxation game a bit like Noby Noby Boy, something consequence-free and untaxing that helps me unwind. Definitely. I played it while watching the football last week. That was awesome. If I need to unwind I try and avoid looking at a screen and it isn't engaging enough by itself but, like I said, it is enjoyable when I'm actually playing it. Weird, I know.
Ryan Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 The trial and error gameplay just brought back my anger streak that was hidden away in me after finally finishing it first time round.
