Deja 'Vu is kinda eerie there are times when I experience it and I stop and I think something bad is going to happen cause I remember what happens next. Then it turns out I'm totally wrong and I rest easy.

I think it's really just you remembering something you dream then expecting a trival situtaion that mirrors a part of your dream.

Whoa, fellow Limburg person! =D

*lives in Hasselt*

Awesome!

And déjà vu, I had a really short one yesterday. Nothing big, just felt like what I was doing and thinking was the exact same thing as I'd done before. I was only checking a site though. X3

Didn't you used to be =Cat=? In the olden days of Cube-Europe, that is. I seem to remember your name being bewhiskered...

I had a bit of déjà vu the other day when playing Warhawk. It was the first time I'd ever played one of the small, 8-player map layouts, and midway through the match I was picking other players off from a vantage point when the feeling kicked in.

The odd thing was that although I was controlling things — obviously — it was more like watching a replay. I can't recall ever having déjà vu whilst playing a game before, but I think it's interesting that I was basically running on auto-pilot for the duration — and I won, so it didn't particular hamper my ability.

I assume that is what déjà vu is like for everyone? As in not just feeling "I've been here/done this before," but actually absent-mindedly acting or speaking as if reading from a script. Being outside of yourself, as it were.

well, deja vu is just a feeling, running on autopilot just sort of happens, i mean, you do an action, you dont think about every single button press right? same way you dont think about breathing, your brains freeing itself for outher stuff.

But this was different, even if it was simply a matter of degree. I wasn't actively thinking about the game at all, indeed I'd describe myself more as a spectator than a participant. It was a bit like being 'in the zone' but without the accompanying immersion.

Oh, and I'm leaning more towards '-Cat-' now.

A deja vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something...

But seriously I'd put it down to chemical reactions in the brain...kind of like being on drugs. Just my opinion.

'Deja Vu'

'What?'

'It was nothing'

'What did you see?'

'Just that black cat'

But seriously, I find it hard to identify time periods, like when something has actually happened present or after.

Deja Vu is one of the most freaky / intriguing things. It can't truly be explained.

I havent had one for a few months, but as someone else said they do, I sort of stop and look confused. Thing is the person/frined next to you goes 'what' and you say 'deja vu and they're flattered that you had a deja vu with them involved.

Or something like that. I have found though that once I have a deja vu it happens again not too far away after. If you think about deja vu, then you're probably more likely to have one.

And whoever mentioned that theory about your life being ina loop, that chilled me to the bone. Just think, you dont realise but you've read this exact text before and replied to it.

It's a very interesting topic. I've had a few déjà vu-like experiences. What happens most often is that I experience something (often visible, a face or a picture etc.) that I feel I've experienced before, despite not remembering anything else about that specific thing (which you normally can when remembering stuff). I'm never able to associate it with anything, neither time, place, persons, other sights nor relations. I just seem to recognise that one particular piece of the whole.

That kind of experience fit nicely with the scientific explanation of déjà vu: An experience going into the long-time memory a split second before the short-time memory, resulting in you recognising the situation without being able to associate it with anything as you don't really know anything about it.

That explanation just doesn't fit with a group of déjà vu experiences where you actually know some things that you shouldn't be able to know without knowing how you actually know it. (Does that make sense?)

I've experienced 2 instances where some things fit inexplicably well together, but where it could still just be coincidence:

1) One time I dreamt that I for some reason had to do mow my dad's part of the lawn (we normally split the lawn into areas: I mow one part, my dad mows the other). The next morning it was lawn-mowing day, but some friends stop by unexpectedly that my dad has to keep company, and thus I end up mowing his part of the lawn also. Recalling my dream last night, it was a very creepy experience.

2) I had a déjà vu feeling about one from my new class - I was sure I recognised her face. The weird thing was that she felt the same about me! We've talked about where we could have seen each other before, but so far we haven't been able to find out.
