Panic over - I think lol

Looks that way.

DarkZero: As some of you may have noticed both Asda and Zavvi have recently changed their date for the Euro release of LittleBigPlanet, with the game now bearing a November 14 date instead of the October 24th date we've all being expecting.

Thankfully, it seems this is not the case at all, as Sony have confirmed to us that "the UK release date for LittleBigPlanet is confirmed as 24th October," so it seems both sites somehow got their dates mixed up.

Don't get too excited, CVG say Sony are about to release a statement...

Heres the reason, yo.

While playing your latest game, "LittleBigPlanet" in the first level of the third world in the game (titled "Swinging Safari", I have noticed something strange in the lyrics of the music track of the level. When I listened carefully, I was surprised to hear some very familiar Arabic words from the Quran. You can listen to part of the track here:

mt14.quickshareit.com/share/p...lip22503c0.wav

The words are:

1- In the 18th second: "كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death').

2- Almost immediately after, in the 27th second: "كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish').

I asked many of my friends online and offline and they heard the exact same thing that I heard easily when I played that part of the track. Certain Arabic hardcore gaming forums are already discussing this, so we decided to take action by emailing you before this spreads to mainstream attention.

We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it.

We would also like to mention that this isn't the first time something like this happened in videogames. Nintendo's 1998 hit "Zelda: Ocarina of Time" contained a musical track with islamic phrases, but it was removed in later shipments of the game after Nintendo was contacted by Muslim organizations. Last year, Capcom's "Zack & Wiki" and Activision's "Call of Duty 4" also contained objectionable material offensive to Muslims that was spotted before the release of the final games, and both companies thankfully removed the content.

We hope you act immediately to avoid any confusion and unnecessary controversy, and we thank you for making such an amazing game.

Regards,

UUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Fucking religion. I hate religion so much. Its such a joke.

People who believe in religion are idiots.

I know thats quite generalising....Im not excusing it, Im just aware of the generalisation I'm making.

FUCKER!!!!!!!!! Gah.

I hate the way special dispensation is handed out in the name of religion. If the title had a song that screamed "Jeebus is a bell-end" I would find it funny. Tbh whoever plays a piece of electronic entertainment and finds "offense" at it should be shot.

It's like these people want to complain about something for the sake of it. If they notice a religious lyric it's like they have to show everyone by complaining. I don't understand how it could be offensive.

LittleBigPlanet uses the English Language

As an Englishman, I am offended by the use of this within a game and demand that the game be removed from shops immediately and permanently

It's so stupid when you think about it. People can choose to believe in something with no proof, ie. belief alone, and if enough people believe it then they can dictate what they don't want to see happen. They can then force their views so that people who don't even share those views are affected by their rants.

I think we should create a cult of those who don't like oxygen, and if enough of us join we can get oxygen BANNED. That'll teach it.

Thank you for the following order placed with GAME.

Order number(s):

XXXX

As you may already be aware, the UK release date for LittleBigPlanet has changed to Oct-2008. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control.

Don't worry, your order is still live and will be despatched prior to its release date via your chosen method of delivery

Got this off game so looks like its slightly delayed...

What a cock up, especially seem as some people already have it... at least gives me longer to complete bioshock, but if its majorly delayed runs the risk of clashing with other games...

How could this happen?

LittleBigPlanet new US release is now with;

WoW: Lich King

Call of Duty: World at War

Mirror's Edge

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

What games coming out in UK on the new release date?

You have to wonder how the hell it did happen. But then again if they just picked a song and there are only 2 lines in the whole song it looks more like sneaky songmakers chucking it in how could they ever have been expected to know?

Why oh why couldn't they have just patched it and removed it from subsequent prints of the disc? It sucks but guess thats the way its going to happen...sigh...

EDIT;

can understand why they would find it offensive...pop songs and all their beautiful women etc... and the indulgence in celebrity materialism etc...all things about the West that is hated....

LittleBigPlanet Release Update

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologize for any offense that this may have caused.

We will begin shipping LittleBigPlanet to retail in North America the week of October 27th. Sorry for the delay, and rest assured, we are doing everything we can to get LittleBigPlanet to you as soon as possible.

Nice music. I can see why MM liked it. They really should have checked out the lyrics however. Not appropriate for the game plus the Quran verses dont help.

I think territories where reprint is not required should just be patched. Apparently other publishers have done similar things e.g Nintendo with the 'spastic' comment in Paper Mario.

Hopefully 1 week delay for Europe too.

LBP user generated content will cause touble now because of this news.

Its just a song that is being removed or altered. You cant create you own music(well at least the same way as premade music).

This whole thing was blown out of proportion. Just a 1 week delay. Some of the Muslim hate here is pretty shameful.

Indeed mate. I am muslim but I dont think that quote in the song is in anyway going to offended any Muslims I know. Like you said its been blown WAY out of proportion.

Better :P

A Muslim found it and told Sony about it.

Firstly it's obvious they don't want the bad publicity that may arise from this situation. And here's where I think the people on this board have really lost the plot. People keep suggesting that it should be the Muslims who avoid the game but why - and I really want to scream this in bold but i'll resist - Why on earth would Sony want a potentially large group of people to avoid their game and possibly other future products in the larger Sony conglomerate.

Sony aren't simply caving in to the religious demands of Muslims here. They've seen that something in their game could be offensive to some of their customers and have made the correct decision to rectify that. From what I can tell people getting overly upset over this are either dense or using this to push their anti-religious/Islam agenda.

Would the situation have been any different if the one of the songs lyrics contained phrases that may have offended those of Japanese decent? Do people really think Sony would have acted any differently? Sony are doing their best not to offend their customers here and it should be commended. Unfortunately certain people are just unwilling to accept that people take their beliefs very seriously and would rather remain ignorant to this.

Sadly whats got a lot of people riled up here is less that Sony have taken steps to avoid offending their customers but that it concerns those who practice Islam.

New UK release date is October 31st.

At least its October. Valkyria Chronicles and this on the same day.

ARGH! Could get LBP, Fallout 3 and maybe Valkyria Chronicles all on the same day! Something will have to give.

You are always anti-PS3 anyway, I'm still glad I have one because this game will be fantastic.

I should probably explain my reasoning behind the comment; I'm glad I don't own a PS3 because I'd be dying inside out of anticipation for the game if I had one. LBP and MGS4 are my sole reasons for wanting a PS3, but I'll wait til MGS4 hits the 360 and all will be well.
