Fierce_LiNk Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Don't worry, this is a common side effect of watching Torchwood. I share Ashley's annoyance with shopping list coupling. By that I mean those times when people say, "I really need a girl-/boyfriend," and so latch on to the next person they meet out of some sense of requirement. Boil-in-the-bag relationships go against everything I stand for. I like Torchwood. I agree with your point about shopping list people. It kinda ruins the whole magic as well. If I had the choice of how I could meet somebody, it would just be on a boring or ordinary day, because then at least it's out of the ordinary or random, or something or other. Equally, I don't like people who are like "OMG! SINGLENESS RULES! MEN SUCKS!"
Guest bluey Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 valentines day is rubbish. today however, is saint dwynwen's day!! it's the day for the welsh patron saint of lovers - so today is the welsh equivalent of valentines day - only MUCH less annoying so~ "dydd santes dwynwen dda!" everybody

Charlie Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I had a nice night in with some of my ladyfriends last night, and we just watched Torchwood, had a curry and talked. After that, I had a pretty good nights sleep, so I woke up with a spring in my step. The first thing my housemates asked me was "did you have sex last night?" Hah, no. It's been a long time since I've truely been intimate with somebody. I've kissed girls and done many naughty things, but it's never really given me that warm fuzzy feeling. I wouldn't say I'm either happy or sad, just that little middleground where everything "s'alright." Need some romance I think. You're such a player, Flinky. Up until about 6 months ago I'd never really been that close to any girls, I would talk to them at school regularly but would never really see any outside school. I started talking to this girl who I'd had a thing with for a while and now we're really good friends (see my first post in this thread). I also get on well with her friends but I never actually see them unless I'm with her at the time. Also I get on really well with 2 of my flatmates who are both of the female variety.

I wouldn't say I'm a player or anything. I just prefer girl's company to that of men, the majority of the time. 90% (probably more) of my friends are female, I just find them easier to talk to. Then, there's always the problem of girls thinking you're gay because you mostly hang around with girls. It's guaranteed to happen at least once a month.
Daniel Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I had a taste of what it was like to be in a relationship a few years ago, and I sure as feck would like a bit more of that cake. I've grown tired of being single, I need to get out and find myself a girl... ...but no-one takes me SELIOUSRY... Thats because you support Aston Villa...

rokhed00 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 valentines day is rubbish. It really depends what you do with it. I don't buy in to all the commercial crap and like to do things a little differently. This year I'll be prostituting myself at a national fetish event.
Roostophe Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Thats because you support Aston Villa... Again with the Villa slander? This isn't 2003 y'know. Besides, I think the best way for me to find meself a girl is if I first find meself a fecking JOB! That's Stage 1 of my 10-year plan...
My Buttons are Magic! Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 .. even tho im not single im gonna post.. .. when i was single (many moons ago..lol).. i hated the idea of getting into relationships.. (i mean my mum and dads wasnt great so that put me off greatly) and i hated the idea of loosing my independance.. ..but now i like being in a couple but i also like having "alone time" where i get to listen to crap music/play sims 2 and generally do things that greg wouldnt like..lol.. (pokemon ahoy!).. but dammit when hes not there i miss him .. and i hate valentines day.. this year as i cant afford it at all! i do like the presents aspect..
rokhed00 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 .. and i hate valentines day.. this year as i cant afford it at all! Do what I did, sell off half your personal possessions to pay for it.

Boil-in-the-bag relationships go against everything I stand for. I know. I had a friend who came out of a five year relationship and I admit, I have no idea what thats like but he was all mopey and talking about suicide (would never have the balls to do it but was self-indulging in his own misery) and we all rallied and tried to make him feel better best we could. set him up with some new girl (which he denies was within two weeks but was) and now nobody hears from them.
Jamba Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 valentines day is rubbish. I agree. It's not so much about the blatant commercialism (although that does annoy me) I just find it stupid that I need an excuse one day a year to express to someone how much I care about them. I can do that anytime and often do! : peace:

You can propose, or whatever, any day of the year, but it won't get the same response as it does on Valentines.
Jamba Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Fuck the public. I never cared for what anyone else has thought of what I do. Sensationalism is what makes relationships go wrong in my opinion as Ashley has well illustrated. Professing your undying love in public is how I think about marriage, which is agood thing. But that's a long way off for me.
Aimless Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Fuck the public. Now you're getting into the Valentine's Day spirit!
Jamba Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Now you're getting into the Valentine's Day spirit! Shaaaarrap juuuu!

Much better than some chocolates or garage flowers you'd get on Valentine's day eh? BTW, no girls sent me any card's so I'm still single, meh.
Aimless Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 "dydd santes dwynwen dda!" Is this the onomatopoeia for someone trying to get comfy in a leather armchair? I'm almost afraid to ask, but why a love spoon?
rokhed00 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Professing your undying love in public is how I think about marriage, which is agood thing. But that's a long way off for me. Won't you even kiss in public in case someone gets the wrong idea?
