S.C.G Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Everyone who reads this post must download this video here. (Click on direct download server 5 in the right corner) I've set it downloading while I make some lunch, I'll watch it if it finishes soon, slow download is slow. ><
ReZourceman Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I watched it streaming, and so the quality was bad, but you can tell it looks amazing. Especially the lighting effects, with beams pouring into a room. The game just looks extremely impressive.
S.C.G Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Watched it - wow... noice graphics mate, noice graphics I wonder if the gameplay will hold up...
ReZourceman Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Judging from the looks and from the previous game (IMO one of PS2s greatest) then yes. Yes it will.
Domstercool Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 That Crossover is awesome, just a shame, like Namco X Capcom that it probably won't arrive outside of Japan, god damn it! *not fussed by generic cross over, especially since its a JRPG* Then go play your own "generic" games :P
Domo Kun Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 For me the problem with the Haze demo was the level design. I think it still have potential. The auto aim needs to improve too. Hmm... we'll see.
Caris Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I must admit, i played it through again and found it a lot better. Had no problems with the aiming, might be one of those games that just takes a while to get used to.
Domo Kun Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 So does anyone know if the EU/UK is getting the MGS4 special edition? I can't find anything on google so I'm assuming it's US only. I pre-ordered the standard edition (the only edition) with game.co.uk. I'm well pumped. Only a month and 5 days
Guest Jordan Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 No. We're getting what is essentially a 40GB PS3 with a copy of MGS4 in a pretty box.

Hero-of-Time Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 what game is this can't download right now. Mirror Edge I guess? Its Killzone 2. There is 12 mins footage of it over at jeux-france.
flameboy Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Its Killzone 2. There is 12 mins footage of it over at jeux-france. ah right fair enuf...have watched it now and does look awesome shame its been delayed.
tapedeck Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Is it just me or does the Haze demo have NO sound?? EDIT: Doesnt run through optical...HD it is... Enjoyed this until accidently hit one of my guys in the head and they started coming after me. Stoopid!!
ShavenWolf Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Is it just me or does the Haze demo have NO sound?? EDIT: Doesnt run through optical...HD it is... Working fine through optical for me... sure it's not your console? EDIT: May as well give my thoughts on this demo while I'm here! I'm always a bit skeptical of Ubisoft these days, as everything they release just seems so... average. Or shovelware. But as this is being developed by the genii behind Timesplitters and a lot of the team from Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, I thought this would be worth a shot. No pun intended. Ok, when I first played it, I was a bit underwhelmed by the graphics and the voice acting made me wince somewhat, but I did enjoy drugging my character up to the tits with Nectar making me some kind of superhuman, able to knock excrement of every shade of the rainbow out of the enemies and spot a gnat having a shit from 5000 billion yards away. Though it does make everything a bit easy. But you can also OD on the stuff and go on some sporadic shooting rampage or even top yourself. Back to the graphics: Yes, it can look very pretty in screenshots, and the smoke effects are also quite well done and would make you smack your gob if you hadn't already played Call of Duty 2 in 2005, but if you walk up to pretty much any surface you'll see that the quality of the textures are on Xbox 1 levels in some parts. Ouch. And I also don't like that, even though some objects were no higher than a kitten, I still couldn't jump over them. Some of the animations are quite well done though. I liked the way you actually feel like you're running (not literally) with the way the HUD moves as you run. It also runs exquisitely smoothly. I've only played through it twice, and I'm still a bit on the fence about it. I can't help but shake the feeling that, without Nectar, it'd just be another standard FPS. I'm going to wait for the reviews for this one.
tapedeck Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Working fine through optical for me... sure it's not your console? Tried again, still nothing through optical. Gawd knows. Enjoyed the blast through...not too bad a title to pick up.
Daft Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I can't help but shake the feeling that, without Nectar, it'd just be another standard FPS. I pretty much agree but I can see being a rebel and taking advantage of the soldiers and their use of nectar could potentially be very fun. Fingers crossed.
Domstercool Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 If you look at it in that way, then you could say the same about a fair amount of FPS, doesn't stop it from been fun though. These days people seem to think that every FPS has to be revolutionary to be fun. :/
ShavenWolf Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 True, and maybe I was a little harsh on it. I've played through it again since writing my thoughts on it so it must be making a good impression on me. And it does get better for me each time. And admittedly it is quite fun!
Guest Jordan Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 If you look at it in that way, then you could say the same about a fair amount of FPS, doesn't stop it from been fun though. These days people seem to think that every FPS has to be revolutionary to be fun. :/ Yeah.. but it just doesn't stand out. Most of my favourite FPS just have that "weighty" feel about it and they're all pretty unique in one way or another. Going up against CoD4, Halo 3, Half-Life 2 Episode 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 and so on... Haze doesn't feel that special.
flameboy Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 well I've just downloaded it I'm going to give it a go in a sec...sounds like it could end up with mixed reviews if your guys views are anything to go by.
Owen Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Haze is alright! I don't hate it, so i'll buy it cause i enjoyed it to some extent! Graphically (i'm not a graphics whore) but i remember seeing that forest level quite sometime ago and thinking 'wow', but now it's not that amazing is it? Perhaps it's been delayed for a tad too long, thats the problem!
S.C.G Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 It's by Free Radical Design (afaik) therefore by reputation of the TS series alone it should be excellent but from what people are saying it's not... it's just fun but limited. I was contemplating getting it for PS3 but now I think I'll wait and get the 360 version, whenever thats coming out as I'd prefer achievements for playing through it even as pointless as some think they are, also I think I'll wait until it's £17.99 on play.com too and when I'm actually in the modd to play yet another FPS. :/
Domo Kun Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 No.We're getting what is essentially a 40GB PS3 with a copy of MGS4 in a pretty box. Ah no, sorry I meant this one- The version with a soundtrack CD and some extras. Do you/does anyone know if we're getting that? So I'm guessing the Dualshock 3 won't be out here in time for Metal Gear then too? Hmm.
