Jon Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Well don't make a statement like that without giving evidence. I didn't need too. You did it for me. Roffles. I'm only joking, i'm bored.
dwarf Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 So there's more than one dwarf gourami on this board then? Or did you suddenly reach enlightenment and realise that I am 100% right and I never BS? I am a Buddha.
Deathjam Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 It's probably your penchant for continually speaking large amounts of bullshit. So there's more than one dwarf gourami on this board then?Or did you suddenly reach enlightenment and realise that I am 100% right and I never BS? I am a Buddha. ............ I jest i jest
flameboy Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Im on playing this beauty right now. I bought it last night at 7, played it til 12, got up at 9 and have been on it since then. Yes, it has once again started to consume my life. My 2 nephews and another mate on XBL have been sitting playing it, we can't play it together but we have been sitting in party chat just talking to each other about how far we are in the game and the quests we are doing. Have you not tried the methods for tricking your PSP be good to find someone to play with on regular basis....
Happenstance Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Was just going to put Monster Hunter Unite on my rental list so I could see what its like, annoyingly Tescos Rental dont have it!
flameboy Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 That is a bit annoying would have thought its a big enough title to stock, considering some of the shite they do stock...
Happenstance Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I expect they dont get many PSP rentals so it wouldnt be high on their list of games to stock
Hero-of-Time Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Have you not tried the methods for tricking your PSP be good to find someone to play with on regular basis.... Nah, I never did when I played MH 2 either. My nephews have it so I will be questing alongside them when I can and I have been playing the series since the original came out on the PS2 so im not too shabby when it comes to questing alone When I do eventually pick up another PS3 I will be using the whole system to get online with it though, it will be nice to play alongside people who also have an interest in the series.
Happenstance Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Yeah it sucks how new games get out of stock for rental so easily. I've got some odd games instead. This isnt out of stock, its not stocked at all unfortunately.
Dante Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Sony Patents Emotion Engine Emulation Technology For Cell Processors
dwarf Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hopefully it's free, and if it isn't I'd probably be willing to throw a few quid in for it. Thing is the PS3 is becoming so expensive in overall necessary hardware. Bigger HDDs needed, controllers, PS Eye, potentially the new motion controllers and possibly this.
MATtheHAT Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Hopefully it's free, and if it isn't I'd probably be willing to throw a few quid in for it. Thing is the PS3 is becoming so expensive in overall necessary hardware. Bigger HDDs needed, controllers, PS Eye, potentially the new motion controllers and possibly this. Wut? Its on about PS2 emulation by the PS3's Cell processor, i.e, Backwards Compatibility. No hardware needed.
Daft Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Maybe this is what the 3.0 update will be. Fingers crossed.
Aimless Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) I'd say it's more likely that Sony are trying to facilitate downloadable PS2 games via the PlayStation Store rather than outright put-the-disk-in emulation. Not that the latter's outside the realms of possibility, but it would be easier and more profitable for them as a company to be the only provider of titles needing to be emulated. The real question is whether either will ever happen, of course. My understanding is that the lack of a part of the PS2's hardware — the eDRAM, I believe — is impossible to compensate for, despite the PS3 obviously being a much more powerful machine. If anyone's going to work out a way around that then it would be Sony, though, so I guess we shouldn't rule anything out. Oh, I suppose this could be a feature constrained to the slim PS3 when it comes out later this year. Any hardware shortfalls could be easily remedied with that, and given how much of the PS2 hardware would be being emulated it wouldn't be costing Sony much. Edited June 30, 2009 by Aimless Added extra musing.
Happenstance Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 PS3 Slim for autumn - report Sony may be readying a PS3 Slim model for launch this autumn, while Microsoft may be cutting the price of the top-tier Xbox 360 Elite. To make way for the Slim hardware, Sony will finally cut the price of existing PS3 consoles, according to Ars Technica's "favourite inside source". Preceding that, retailers will be given a limited inventory of 80GB PS3 units in order to clear stock. The same source also claims the Xbox 360 Pro model will disappear at the end of the summer, after plenty of shelf-clearing bundles similar to the Halo 3/Fable II deal. The Elite will reposition to fill the gap after an "early September" price cut, allowing more users to effectively use on-demand video streaming and downloaded content from Xbox Live. Sony has a history of thinning its PlayStation hardware. The PSone and PS2 were both reduced in size - the latter four years after European launch. The PS3 didn't launch in Europe until early 2007, so this would be an early move on Sony's behalf - although arguably the pressure is greater than ever before. And, of course, Sony trimmed the PSP after just two years. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ps3-slim-for-autumn-report
ShavenWolf Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Is the PSN down for maintenance? I can't sign in and it says the error code '8002A402'.

flameboy Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 PS2 Emulation Already Up And Running? Is your PlayStation 3 running firmware greater than 2.10? Chances are it is, but did you know that apparently it’s then already capable of running PS2 games then? “PS3 is capable of running PS2 games with 100 % software emulation but the performance and compatibility is really poor,†says lherre on GAF. “The emulator is present in every PS3 in the market (since 2.10 if I remember correctly) but is “deactivatedâ€. “ He then goes on to suggest that the current PS3 firmware has some “interesting†files on it, which are presumably linked to his statement above. This follows our news this morning that Sony have applied for a patent for a purely software-based solution to the PS2 emulation issue and ties in nicely with the job advert from last January for a software engineer at Sony Japan to work on exactly this. TheSixthAxis has also learnt this lunchtime that the bottleneck isn’t the Emotion Engine, which is already up and running, it’s the Graphics Synthesizer that’s causing the headaches. If Sony can crack this, then surely that would open the gates to downloadable PS2 games over the Store, as we suggested this morning. http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2009/06/30/ps2-emulation-already-up-and-running/ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let us run disk based games as well as unlikely as it seems...
Happenstance Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I was having trouble a few minutes ago but its fine now. I wanted to get FFVII today but id rather wait until its more stable.
flameboy Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I was having trouble a few minutes ago but its fine now. I wanted to get FFVII today but id rather wait until its more stable. PSN has been down apparently.
Happenstance Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 The question now is, is it back up properly again?
Nicktendo Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I just kicked a box which head heavy things in it, now my foot is bleeding... Curse you, Race Driver: Grid and your general causing of major frustartion followed by unnecessary aggresive outburts
kyletherobot Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Second platinum trophy in the bag. Thanks for being so easy, Terminator Salvation. Just got to complete Uncharted on Crushing and then I'll have my third. If only trophies had some kind of value or meaning.
