Rowan Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Maybe its because I haven't played a racing game for a number of years, last one probably Mario Kart Wii, or maybe its just because I've recently played games aimed at an older audience but F1 Race Stars is harmless fun and a good play. The mechanics are surprisingly solid and features like pit stops, no drifting and the kers boost differentiates it from other kart games. Only complaint is it's hard to figure out (and commit to memory) what icon represents each weapon/item in a race. @Retro_Link it's free on PS+ so I would recommend just buying a £8 3 month subscription while you can, save yourself from buying it fully.

Hadn't heard of Sideway: New York, looks really cool! Costume Quest looks pretty awesome!... one of the games I remember hearing about before I got a PS3. Likewise Super Stardust I can remember people on here raving about! but I'd completely forgotten about it having since got one!... The fact I can actually get these now! Been looking at getting The Walking Dead for some time. Sound Shapes I've had an interest in too. Might have to give Flower a go too, I wasn't convinced from a trailer I watched, I thought it might kind of be one dimensional? And honestly guys, I can't recommend The Unfinished Swan enough!
Daft Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 This list is bullshit. Stacking isn't on it.
Retro_Link Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 *YouTube's Stacking* OK, another one to add to the watch/to-buy list.
Cube Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Costume Quest looks pretty awesome!... one of the games I remember hearing about before I got a PS3. As someone who hates turn-based RPGs....this is really good. Not as good as Stacking, though.
Sheikah Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 This list is bullshit. Stacking isn't on it. Yeah too right. Also Castle Crashers gave me a lot more enjoyment to be that low down. I thought Stacking was pretty boring. *Rebel* That's because you're broken.
Daft Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 I thought Stacking was pretty boring. *Rebel* It takes a little time to warm to but it gets better and better. Elefunk should be on that list. Talk about long forgotten, underrated, hidden gems.
Daft Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 What are the thought of changing this thread to an all round indie game thread? There are a whole load of great indie games on Steam and iOS/Android and now the Vita (I know PSN is there) - it just seems like we need title change. What do people think? Aaaaaaaaany way...just found out about this game, Proteus. Sounds interesting. Anyone played it? Proteus - A VIRTUAL VACATION IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/02/09/proteus-review Proteus is a first-person explorer where you just walk. That's all you do. There's no shooting or jumping or climbing or puzzle-solving. The trees you'll find on this island have nothing to do with dialogue, skills or perks. They're just normal trees. You know, the kind that come out of the ground. They're surrounded by looming peaks, sleepy valleys, sun-kissed vistas and an ocean that cradles the whole place like a doting mother. Sometimes there are also graves. Is it a game? By some definitions, sure. There is, after all, an action (walking) and a goal (advancing the island's seasons and witnessing the effects of time on nature). Is it something else entirely? Maybe. I mean, it's mostly directionless and there's no actual challenge. But really, here's the short answer to both questions: who cares? I could sit here all day rattling off a list of the gameplay elements Proteus doesn't have. Heck, I could probably do that for all sorts of other games as well. But instead I'm just going to discuss what Proteus is. It is magical.
Shorty Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Arcade/PSN is not synonymous with indie. Portal is on XBLA, Shadow Complex is made by Epic Games, Megaman by Capcom etc etc. And I'm pretty sure there's an indie game thread somewhere.
Daft Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Ah, didn't realise there was an indie game thread.
Daft Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 This looks awesome. Yay Curve! Also, Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims in HD! and The HD Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character are being released. Love all the indie games.
Cube Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrims held my attention for 10 seconds.
Daft Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Already better than the whole Wii U catalogue then.
Cube Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Ducktales is amazing. But why have they just put "PlayStation" and "PSN" logos? I need to know if this will be on Vita. It would look amazing on Vita.
Captain Falcon Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Ducktales is amazing. But why have they just put "PlayStation" and "PSN" logos? I need to know if this will be on Vita. It would look amazing on Vita. As it stands, it's not destined for Vita and even a PC release is something they are still looking into.
