Posted January 27, 2009 Ah ha! You guys may or may not know that I'm having trouble at work. (Quick over view - Was on an annual salary as a researcher for a Legal Recruitment company, in December they took away my pay and put me on a commission only role as a headhunter where I have to find CV's and if a consultant places them I get a share of the invoice, however no one is placing my candidates and I'm not getting any money and work are not willing to help) Anyway, I've just found out this is illegal, my employer HAS to pay me at least minimum wage (£5.73 an hour as I'm 22) which I am not getting regardless of whether a placement is made. Posted January 27, 2009 Just got a call from my mom with a bit of good news, but first a quick bit of backstory so it makes sense. I'm trying to get into the insulators union, it's a good steady job. Well, since it's a trade job you go into an apprenticeship program, work in the day learn at night. They don't take new classes on often, and not large classes either. This past October they started taking applicants, 140 people applied. After the applying you get to take the idiot test. This test is really simple stuff, is it easier to move a wheelbarrow with the load in the front or back? Nearly 100 people FAILED!!! Some others messed up with getting required documents in and were eliminated. Basically it went down to 40 people(of which I was one) for interviews and they took like 12 of those 40. Alright, my mom called to say that a family friend called to say another class is going to be taken in April, her husband (The current president of the Union) is going to try and make sure I get in, and shot down some other dudes Idea of starting the whole process over again despite having a perfectly good list of applicants that didn't get accepted. Posted January 27, 2009 Got soaked walking home. It wasn't properly raining, it was that horrible tiny raindrop stuff and makes you think you're still dry until like 20 seconds later when you're covered in rain. Jackets ruined. Could have got the bus but that's lazy and I would still have had to walk through the rain so just thought I'd make it a 30 minute walk instead of a 15 minute bus ride and a 5 minute walk. Oh and my psychology experiment sucked. Was about eye tracking and required me to hit one of two buttons if one of two items, either a tool or a utensil, turned green. Got a laugh at it from the debrief sheet that explained what the experiment, in the long run, hopes to achieve. They're doing it so they can sort out some human cognitive thing so they can make human like robots. Not what I'd call psychology but who cares. Tired now. Need to sleep. No new HIMYM episode so think sleep is best (although according to the HIMYM forums over at CBS.com there was supposedly a new episode but nothing has appeared for viewing). Posted January 27, 2009 Moojoo...? MoJo JoJo! Are you the evil Mojo Jojo?!? Had a weird nights non sleep last night. Had what they call 'butterflies in your stomach' feeling all night so I barely slept. Work was meh. The manager came in on her day off and spent two hours there. She's a nuisance. Some drunkard came in and asked to use the phone to get a taxi and I was like "urr no" and he said "come on!" so I stated that the phone is for business calls only and he kept saying "really!? can't I just use it." I eventually said "we're not a taxi office you know?" and he left. However The Fall is promoted on the DVD we play on loop (even though we don't have it in stock) and it always makes me smile. Feel bit run down today, was an incredibly drunk and fun night last night but just went in for a seminar and got some mock exam results back, they weren't bad but I want to do better. So went into the bookshop and bought some revision stuff for my modules. Now I'm about to pay my accommodation bills for uni which means I'll have barely any money which is kind of depressing. One person I sit next to is nice, but we just don't have a huge amount in common, and sit back to back so don't talk a lot. Plus one of the people I sit near is....such a knob woman. Like....just stupid. The only reason I email so much. Obv wouldn't email as much if I had someone to save me from going crazy. I might as well be in a cubicle tbh. Posted January 27, 2009 Don't usually post in here much but thought I would share what a great day I've had with you all... I lost my job today - another victim of the Credit Crunch. The company I work for went into Administration in November, and my boss got a phone call this afternoon to say we're closing TOMORROW. We've only been open since September! Sucks to be me employment wise just now:( HOWEVER, started back @ uni yesterday doing my Post Grad MA in Social Research and met three very interesting people today - a White Scottish girl, a Black English guy and a Blind Egyptian - one of the weirdest days ever. Posted January 27, 2009 Urgh, today sucked so much I just want to forget about it. School sucked. Took me an hour to get home by bus... while by car it would've been about ten minutes. No one was home, no idea where anyone was. Mom and dad came home not too long ago (not together), and now mom was bitching at me because I was annoyed there wasn't anything for me to eat (they have some microwave meal for them which includes crappy meat) and I said I'd just eat bread.
