Dyson Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Would love to play Beat Hazard with a 360 controller, but mine is wireless. Bah! I bought Bad Rats for 66p after playing the demo. Completed about 15 of the levels and probably won't touch it again but for 66p, you can't complain. I have £20 in my PayPal just itching to be spent but I don't know what to buy. There's so many awesome deals..the indie pack with Plain Sight/Blueberry Garden etc was really tempting me.
Nolan Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdWnNgTLbKw&feature=player_embedded Rather humorous. He could be the new spokesman of the PCGA though.
McPhee Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 http://www.teamfortress.com/engineerupdate/ It's out
Cube Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I need to get round to playing PC TF2 again. I haven't played it since before it was "released" (i.e when people who pre-ordered Orange Box got it early).
Dyson Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 http://www.teamfortress.com/engineerupdate/ It's out Shit yes it is. It makes playing TF2 impossible due to the flood of Engineers but it's quite funny to play as a Spy right now. So many sappers! I noticed you were online last night playing TF2 right as the #100th wrench dropped. I got killed by someone with a Golden Wrench last night which was awesome - Mastrix with GW #18 or something Have you seen one in the wild at all?
McPhee Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Nah, not seen a golden wrench yet. Play on the same server most of the time though so it's unlikely. Looking forward to the novelty wearing off now. Play Engie a lot so it's kinda irritating at the moment, most games I put up a dispenser at the start and then every single other Engineer on my team proceeds to steal metal out of it because they're all desperately trying to build their own sentries, all in a cluster. Round starts, we have a level one dispenser built and about a trillion level one sentries (which sucks, big time). I've taken to abusing admin privileges and burning/drugging/freezing the fools, they get the message quick (or they leave, either one).
Dyson Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 The Engie spam is quite ridiculous but it'll die down soon - if not before, then it certainly will when the Polycount Pack comes out. That'll be some fun stuff
Nolan Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Most engies are absolute morons. Sure 3 SGs right next to each other can shoot a lot of bullets, but one demo who isn't a moron will blow all 3 up with ease. Depending on the level of the SG and RL/DH a soldier can do the same easily and even a heavy or pyro with lvl 1's (or a good heavy medic combo).
Mundi Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 The engie update has just been hilarious. People popping out mini-sentries like they are normal sentries and putting sentries in very open location just so they can control them and pretend that they are heavies. The amount of times that I have randomly destroyed a sentry with a rocket is just silly. Good fun though.
MATtheHAT Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Is there anything on Steam that my Samsung NC10 Netbook could run? I have Plants vs Zombies and Peggle. Maybe an old RPG or summat that I can get into?
Nolan Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Is there anything on Steam that my Samsung NC10 Netbook could run? I have Plants vs Zombies and Peggle. Maybe an old RPG or summat that I can get into? Old RPG? Why yes, Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. Possibly Torchlight (Diablo clone). Morrowind would probably push unplayable. Sacrifice would likely run...it's like an RPG RTS Action Adventure Hybrid. Fun and hard.

Maybe an old RPG or summat that I can get into? If you're into point & click adventures, check out the Lucas arts stuff for example. I still need to download The Dig.

Maybe an old RPG or summat that I can get into? You might want to look into some of the older valve games. You should be able to run most of those.

Maybe an old RPG or summat that I can get into? Torchlight, it's bassicaly Diablo. Came out last year and got great reviews, it also has a netbook setting in the graphics options.
Mundi Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 http://www.giantbomb.com/news/dawn-of-war-ii-retribution-announced-features-more-factions/2446/ Yes, yes, I like this! Cannot wait to see what other races might be announced.
Funktion Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Positech Games (basically a UK-based one man operation run by Cliff Harris, a guy who before going solo worked for Elixir Studios (Republic: The Revolution and Evil Genius), Lionhead Studios (The Movies) and Maxis Software (prototype for The Sims)), the company behind games such as Gratituous Space Battles, the Kudos series and the Democracy series, a company whose games I particularly enjoy, is having a special sale for some of their older titles. The Winter Bundle they currently have for sale has 5 games for $5.99: -Democracy -Kudos -Rock Legend -Planetary Defense -Starship Tycoon While some of them have a bit of a dated look, they are a blast to play, particularly Kudos, Rock Legend and Democracy. I originally paid over twice as much the price they are currently asking for the bundle for EACH of the games, so this deal is quite the bargain. All 5 games have demos, for those interested. I suggest you try out at least Kudos, Rock Legend and Democracy. They are very interesting and addicting games, and well worth your time, especially for this price. Here's Eurogamer's reviews of Kudos and Rock Legend: -Kudos -Rock Legend
The Bard Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 On that same note, I've been told that Gratuitous Space Battles is really good. Is it on Steam? Thinking of picking it up.
Funktion Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 On that same note, I've been told that Gratuitous Space Battles is really good. Is it on Steam? Thinking of picking it up. Yes, it's on Steam. It was part of a special sale that ended yesterday, where you could purchase it + 4 other games for €4.49. Steam will have a special "holidays" sale later this month, maybe the price will be equally low at that time...
drahkon Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Is Deux Ex worth getting into? I'm really interested in the prequel but I want to play the other games first. The thing is: I can't get into it. I don't know why, though. Should I stick with it until it clicks?
Sméagol Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 The first one: yes. Most will tell you you can skip the 2nd one. I haven't finished it yet, playing half-life at the moment, but I was near the end. It's absolutely not as good as the first, for various reasons, however, I could still stick with it for the story. But the first one is one of my favourite games of all time. What part of it have you played up untill now? Do you know if there's anything specific why you're not getting into it (story, openness, controls etc)?
drahkon Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Do you know if there's anything specific why you're not getting into it (story, openness, controls etc)? This. The controls are all over the place. It feels like you need to remember 100 buttons and their functions.
