Happenstance Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 That's the credits rolling. Really enjoyed my time with that, as I said smiling throughout but it got some proper big laughs out of me as well. Hope we get a sequel! 1
Will Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 So I’m once again having my thoughts on building a PC, and actually might follow through with it this time. Basically I have two targets: Be able to play retro games including Tekno Parrot Be my main gaming machine instead of a PS6 Point one is a now thing and two is something for the future. I’m basically thinking to build something cheap now with a Ryzen 5000 integrated graphics chip and then fully upgrade it in a few years time to cover the more modern games. Is this a sensible thing to do? Will I get much mileage from more recent stuff with something like that or will I be stuck on retro only (which is fine) until I do the big upgrade? Is there anything else I should think about before I go ahead with this?
Happenstance Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Finally bought Diablo IV. I enjoyed playing it on that free weekend but was also playing Uncharted so never bothered picking it up. I'm currently in the mood to play Ghost of Tsushima but want to wait for a better discount so Diablo should be a nice game to play in the mean time.

I'm far from an expert on the topic so don't take this at face value, but I reckon you'd struggle with recent stuff (other than simpler/less demanding indie titles, perhaps ) on that setup. From what I can tell it should be ok for the Tekno Parrot thing though. Never actually heard of that until now, looks like it's possible to play Mario Kart Arcade via it though!
Happenstance Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 You know what I miss. The massive cardboard boxes that PC games used to come in that took up way too much space.

I used to see them at those Retro Video Game Markets from time to time. Almost bought the Red Alert one the last time.
Happenstance Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Got my Steam Replay for 2024. No surprise that Spelunky is top again, that game really does have a hold over me! 1
drahkon Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Absolutely incredible game. Won 3 runs so far on the first board. I'm addicted. 18+ rating incoming. 2
drahkon Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 (edited) Did I spend 2 hours today playing this game immediately after I bought it? I sure did. It's a pretty great incremental/idle/clicker game that you actually kind of need to play There's a Prestige system in place which lets you reset your entire progress after a while and unlock talents/abilities/more stuff. Works great on Steam Deck! Probably the best of the genre I've ever played - that doesn't say much, though, as I basically only played Vostok Inc. (and some of the very early browser clicker games). 1 out of the 3 games I bought today rocks. So far, so good Edited December 20, 2024 by drahkon 1
drahkon Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 30 minutes in, 3 levels done. What a wonderful platformer. Pretty straightforward so far, but the trailer shows it'll become much more elaborate If you want to go for 100% completion, it seems like you need to get an S-Rank on each level: one for not dying and one for collecting all origami cranes. And yes, this is exactly what I will be doing 2 out of 3 get my stamp of approval! 1

Cube Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I got a Steam Deck in Jan. It was mainly for my girlfriend, though, and it doesn't track UPlay games (she's mainly been playing Assassin's Creed games). My PC has mainly been used for emulation. Quake II was for the remaster of the N64 version. 2

I'll try to find some time for Voidigo today Edited December 21, 2024 by drahkon
Dcubed Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) What if The World Ends With You and Wario Ware had a baby? The resulting homunculus is Mindwave. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/holohammer/mindwave A new game just appeared on Kickstarter (due to come out in 2027), with a demo now out on Steam. It's essentially a mashup of Wario Ware with TWEWY of all things, and it's rad as hell! Imagine a brand new Wario Ware game with Keyboard and Mouse being the new "gimmick" input and you've basically figured out the gameplay hook. But on top of that, you have interstitial story sequences that feature branching dialogue and artwork that is more than a little reminiscient of S-E/Jupiter's DS classic; just on an extra little touch of LSD. The demo is super polished to a mirror sheen, already feeling like a final product, and massively impressive from both a stylistic and gameplay perspective. @RedShell This shiz is right up your alley! The gameplay is top-notch, but the progression system is not something I enjoy (most if not all items/weapons are already unlocked). I'll defo try to win some runs, but I don't see myself playing this for more than 10-20 hours (unlike The Binding of Isaac or Slay the Spire, for example).
Julius Posted Wednesday at 04:06 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:06 PM New in-game incentives coming to select PlayStation Studios games on PC: Quote Starting with tomorrow’s release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC, we’re working to add more benefits to playing with an account for PlayStation Network. The Last of Us Part II Remastered (coming April 3, 2025), in addition to God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, will all soon be adding in-game content unlocks for PlayStation Network account users. An account for PlayStation Network will become optional for these titles on PC. Players who still opt to sign into a PlayStation Network account will also enjoy added benefits like trophies and friend management. Quote Details on new benefits for players who opt to sign in with an account for PlayStation Network: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: Early unlock suits: the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit God of War Ragnarok: Gain access to the Armor of the Black Bear set for Kratos at the first Lost Items chest in the Realm Between Realms (previously only accessible in a New Game+ run) and a resource bundle (500 Hacksilver and 250 XP) The Last of Us Part II Remastered: +50 points to activate bonus features and unlock extras Jordan’s Jacket from Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as a skin for Ellie Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Gain access to Nora Valiant outfit Curious if those come to PlayStation if they haven't already -- I'm fairly sure that Jordan's Jacket isn't in TLOU Pt II yet? Maybe when it releases on PC? Doesn't really make up for some of the region-locking weirdness they have going on on PC...
Julius Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It is only a rumour, but Steam may have a home console in the works? Quote NEW STEAM CONSOLE? VERY SPICY with VALVE, İt already seems that a new STEAM console is coming to compete against PS5 and XBOX in the future. Thanks to @HandleDeck we have learned that VALVE Works hand in hand with AMD and its RDNA 4 technologies. Let's not talk about the legitimacy of these so-called leaks, because of course, they're a dime a dozen. My question is: would a new Steam home console be of interest to anyone here? Not going to lie, I'd be fully onboard for this Day 1. My Steam Deck gets used sparingly but, to be honest, my use-case is that it's almost always docked, and it feels just a little weird to use at times as a result, so if I could get a beefier, permanently docked Steam console with a similarly solid build structure to the Steam Deck, which kind of feels limited in my use-case to running indies, 2D games and 10+ year old 3D games? Yeah, so long as we're not talking PS5 Pro levels of stupidity when it comes to pricing, I'd totally be in.
