Retro_Link Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 It looks like it should be on the PSP.That's the DS game! This is the only picture of the Wii game so far,
Dante Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 That's the DS game! Nope, that is the wii game. Here is the screenshot of the DS game.
Cube Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 How is the PSP/Wii comparison fair anyway? The PSP is 2D...
Teppo Holmqvist Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 The PSP is 2D... Yup. And it is quite obvious that Namco is, for some reason, porting Tales of the Abyss engine for Wii instead of using Symphony engine. Tales of the Abyss looks like an ass in screenshots, but quite lovely in motion.
Retro_Link Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Nope, that is the wii game.WHAT!! How can they let it look worse than the Gamecube game and like an upgrade of the DS game! Compared to Symphonia...
Mokong Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 WOHOOOOOOOOOOO THank you thanks you thank you *goes into Meltdown* OMG, not just a new Tales of game, but we are actually getting Tales of Symphonia 2, this is the best news since the Wii was announced. It's like a dream..... oh god i hope i don't wake up anytime soon. Though what the hell is this about Lloyd not being the main character? Hopefully it just starts off like that for awhile then Lloyd joins and becomes the focus and starts gathering up all the old crew (come on Sheena, wooooohooooooooo) And as for the screenshot...i'll be optimistic and say it's early days yet, i'm sure they'll do the game justice
Shorty Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Sounds cool might wind up being my 3rd or 4th Wii title if they get it right.
The-Ironflame Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Not sure how they're going to do this, I would have preffered a brand new "Tales of" title. Symphonia was sort of a Prequel to Phantasia anyway.
Goron_3 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 OMFG YEAH BABY YEAH! I loved the GC version; must have gone through it 3-4 times including all the extra bosses and stuff. Bit lame of them to use the Abyss engine and not the Symphonia one...but oh well. Wonder how they'll use the wii-mote?
Melainon Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Great news! Tales of Symphonia is one of the best RPG's I've played. It's interesting that Tales of Symphonia contains things from norse mythology, e.g. the world tree Yggdrasil. What's even more interesting is that Ratatosk is a special squirrel that lives in the world tree, spreading gossip, and bringing insults between the eagle at the top of the tree, and the serpent Nidhogg at the bottom. Pedrocasilva doesn't read my posts.
darksnowman Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Great news! Why wasnt this mentioned at E3 eh?! I can't wait for more info to be made available, Wii controls should be fun... lets not judge the graphics too much yet - theres a good bit of time for improvement! I suppose we could see this in Europe for NEXT Christmas then? Thats groovy enough, with Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart in the more near future. I'm sure that Lloyd, Genis, Colette and the gang'll be present and correct as well as Dirk and any others that havent died/ been killed off in ToS. The Norse info could provide us with some ideas of what might happen... but what we really need is some more snippets from Namco!

Mokong Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Screencaps Is that from the actual show? I hope so, i can't read kanji but going by the pics i'm assuming all those screens are of ToS2:KoR if so, the one in the fire themed area is the only one that seems a bit poor, and of the course the final one should be confirmation the original gang will indeed be there. *waits for someone who can read japanese to crush hopes*
pedrocasilva Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Pedrocasilva doesn't read my posts.Sorry earlier today I was like a kid at a candy store. :p
EchoDesiato Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Yummy, Sheena's back according to that artwork. It's artwork from the Cube game though, so I might be wrong.
Emasher Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Screencaps i'm pretty sure after seeing those screens that they are using the symphonia engine. and its good to know now that the original characters will return. how are they going to manage bringing back Zelos though. if you chose kratos he died. we need someone to translate this asap.
Dante Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 how are they going to manage bringing back Zelos though. if you chose kratos he died. Eh.. you just answer your own question Emasher. If you chose Zelos or any of others than Kratos, Zelos lives.
Emasher Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 yes but if you chose kratos in the original game... perhaps KoR can check the save file on you gc memory card if you have them
Ten10 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Finally completing billy hatcher today doesn't seem to matter so much now. All I want to know is why they seem to have chucked the muddy look. I loved the muddy look. Anyway Namco are hoping to go for a Spring 2008 release for this, so not too far away but not too close. Also Sword of Legendia seems to have been put on hold, as the sale day remains to be undecided.
The-Ironflame Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 yes but if you chose kratos in the original game... perhaps KoR can check the save file on you gc memory card if you have them Only one ending Zelos dies in, so I think they may of went with the majority where he lives. Kratos is floating away on Derris Kharlan either way, I prefer Zelos in TOS2 and alive.
Emasher Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 All but one ending Zelos dies in, so I think they went with the majority. i thought he died only in one ending he is in the game acording to this picture i guess
Melainon Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Sorry earlier today I was like a kid at a candy store. :p I forgive you:) Now, let's revel in this most excellent of excellent announcements, and be joyful that one of the Gamecube's best rpgs is getting a sequel!
James McGeachie Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 I'm not very sure about this. I love Tales of Symphonia but when Matt was discussing this game a while back he seemed really negative and like it wasn't very hype worthy. I think this is mainly based on the visual side of things, he said all that time ago it uses the "same engine" as ToS but I get the feeling he didn't mean it just as literally as that. More like the reason they're using the same engine is that this is going to be a pretty lazy sequel. I'm getting this rather forboding feeling the game will actually end up recycling the entire world from Symphonia as well, which in an RPG pretty much kills the game from the get go. how are they going to manage bringing back Zelos though. if you chose kratos he died. There are tons of games out there that are sequels to games with multiple endings. They just follow on from the most common one or whatever the developer's consider their "true" ending.
The-Ironflame Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 he is in the game acording to this picture i guess Apparently the translation to that pic is: The Symphonia characters whom made an appearance before will not only appear in this game, but they will also provide assistance ito the main character's journey.
