Daft Posted August 12, 2007 Author Posted August 12, 2007 Just ordered the book, should come mid week I read the book a couple months ago. Its actually a really awesome read!
Fruitgun Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Read the book NOW! If you haven't... Or order it then read it. In any case, READ IT! It's pretty good! And you get to learn some things about Mass Effect. And who doesn't want that?
Kurtle Squad Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Hmmm...I might get this...Looks pretty cool; The name's rubbish though. I watched a trailer of this today and it looks amazing... so amazing it's another title that has swayed me to buy a Xbox 360. You really should get one.
Daft Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 Hmmm...I might get this...Looks pretty cool; The name's rubbish though. The name Mass Effect comes from the "mass effect" engines/drives that all the races use in their ships...As to why they are called mass effect drives...I have no idea.
Owen Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Is this still out November? or has it been delayed till 2008?
immy Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Is this still out November? or has it been delayed till 2008? still 2007
Daft Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 Where can I order the book? I got it of the Amazon marketplace: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mass-Effect-Revelation-Drew-Karpyshyn/dp/1841496758 I don't think it is actually out over here yet.
Mr.X Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 The name Mass Effect comes from the "mass effect" engines/drives that all the races use in their ships...As to why they are called mass effect drives...I have no idea. Could it be that the engines behave like the main ship out of Futurama perhaps.
The fish Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 The name Mass Effect comes from the "mass effect" engines/drives that all the races use in their ships...As to why they are called mass effect drives...I have no idea. Mass Effect is actually a medical term, concerning the effect caused by a growing mass, or more specifically, a tumor. For example, cancer of the thyroid gland can lead to a narrowing of the windpipe, due to the presence of the tumor, along with other symptoms. These symptoms are the mass effect. As for the game, according to Wikipedia: "Project Manager Casey Hudson explained the term "mass effect" as follows: Inside the game universe, mass effect is a newly discovered (for humans anyway) physics phenomenon that has properties along the lines of other physics forces such as gravity and electromagnetism. It's what physicists in real life are currently calling "dark energy," as an explanation for the accelerating expansion of the universe -- which has only recently been discovered and flies in the face of the previous notion that the universe's expansion should be slowing down because of gravity."
