Hellfire Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Silent hill is an over-rated resident evil clone. It lacked a decent storyline(The film proved it)controls were worse than the ps1 resident evil games. the ps1 silent hill game was awesome but too hard for it's own good. They just kept getting worse then. I prefer a mansion to a large pointless empty town though. It was more frightening and the radio effect was genius. The point to that is to say We have resident evil coming so fuck this! Not really, RE is based on scaring people where Sillent Hill is psychological terror. Also, Silent Hill games have very good and moving stories and I really liked the movie. And, RE wasn't the first horror game don't forget that.
Tyson Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I was going to buy Dewy's Adventure when it was released, but after seeing the way they approach the Wii, I'll feel I'm buying into the "Wii is for kids" attitude. If Dewy sells well, they're bound to keep shitting out child orientated crap. The only game I see me buying from Konami in the near future is Dance Dance Revolution. I'm losing faith in the Wii daily now. Only a week ago I was full of enthusiasm, as I usually am. By now in the Gamecube's life time I probably had about 10 games, all rather "killer". I've got 5 games on the Wii now, two of which are games I had no choice but to have (Wii Sports and Wii Play for the remote), one which is an EA Sports game (I've never stooped to buying an EA Sports title before now!) and I've already traded in two games, and I never traded in any of my Gamecube games before. Ten more games are all I can look forward to for the Wii, and they're atleast 4-5 months away, and a lot of them are probably next year.
Hellfire Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Funny, cause I have much more games on the Wii than what I had for GC in the same period. It's also interesting how people lost or gain faith, like this is some sort of religion :P Who cares if the game is kiddy or not, if it's good, buy it.

Don't worry, Wii is doing fine as long as key "gamer" manage to sell, and since the consoles are selling pretty well, there's a big and growing market here. Developers can't overlook that if it continues like this. DS wasn't supported like it is now from the beginning, there was that idea it was a console for mini games like the ones in Mario 64 DS and Warioware. Thing is... Mini-games console is what the competitors (Sony and Microsoft) will be throwing at us for a while to push us down, but casuals don't read that neither they care. Nintendo just has to do their job and the games will come naturally if they keep selling as they are; PS2 public was also mostly casual, in 100 million consoles sold there's not 10 million hardcores, that said they got all those games because they were the biggest market on all fronts. I'm not losing faith at all, I'm not 100% satisfied with some developers and even insatisfied with some, but it's going to be better than GC was; and that's a lot to me since GC was the console with the best games last gen for me.

When you buy something, you're bound to put some faith into it. You expect certain things out of it once you hand over your hard earned cash and, for me, the Wii, quite frankly, hasn't delivered. It also doesn't look like the investment is going to deliver in the near future.
Acidyl Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I guess you have to be a bit older to appreciate konami but I can't insult a company with such a awesome quality list of games: super contra, gradius 3, turtles 4:turtles in time, rush 'n attack, castlevania rondo of blood, castlevania: symphony of the night, super castlevania 4, and more List_of_Konami_games

It also doesn't look like the investment is going to deliver in the near future.I think our line-up is killer for a first year in the market... Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Super Smash, Battalion Wars, Mario Strikers... all first party... On GC it took way longer than that to some of these to happen. And the third party support is getting quite good too, lots of titles being announced from all corners. Sure it could be even better (if it wasn't for comments like these and ubisoft's) still... Nothing it's perfect it could always be better; and no one bought a Wii thinking we would get Silent Hill 5 in the first place. Expecting too much is the first step to "loose faith", then again... I bet no one in these forums would bet Wii would be selling more than PS3 like... 1 year ago.
RedShell Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I find it worrying that no one has mentioned Mystical Ninja at all. Am I the only person that likes that franchise!? Anyway, I really hope Konami at least bring that game to the Wii.

Anyway, I really hope Konami at least bring that game to the Wii. Of course you're not the only one! I never owned the N64 one but I played it to completion more than once, and on the VC I've got the Snes one - which I also played but never owned before. Its a great quirky wee series - perfect for Wii!?
Pit-Jr Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Mystical Ninja is great and yes you can save on it. One of the better VC games out thus far
Hero-of-Time Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Mystical Ninja is great and yes you can save on it.One of the better VC games out thus far Cheers. If nothing decent comes out this week on the VC I will snap it up.
RedShell Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I have never played any of them. Hows the VC Mystical Ninja and can you save on it? Oh man!I reckon you of all people would love it. It's a classic (I downloaded it a while back despite having played it back in the day) seriously worth downloading. And yeah you can just save with the VC's resume feature.
Goron_3 Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Konami gave us Castlevania... I'll always love them for that.
The Bard Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 That's actually a good point, even if all the recent Castlevania games have been rip offs of 2D Metroid games
Fierce_LiNk Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I can't complain about Konami, I mean, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin all rock. Potential future titles Castlevania: Cox of Seagulls Castlevania: End of Days Castlevania: Knights of Cydonia Castlevania: Apples of Sorrow Castlevania: Depths of despair.

You are weak old man! Castlevania:Open-Mic Night of Hepatitis C Castlevania:Fugue of Kidney Stones Castlevania:Fart Noises of Misery Castlevania:Pop-Punk of Irritated Bowels So, what I used a random generator, you got a problem?

jammy2211 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Firstly, I think it's worth mentioning Konami have two more unititled Wii projects under developement. An "Original Action Adventure Game" and "RPG". To me these brief descriptions sound alot more promising to the market we want to see them aim at (Us!) and well, that puts their total Wii projects up to about 6 that we know about. That's a pretty high number and is more then most other third parties. I don't blame them for putting Silent Hill 5 on the 360 / PS3, the fact is it suits them consoles more. It's a game which should be given the HD treatment, the amazing graphics treatment, it's not a franchise which benefits more from what the Wii offers. I think if there is one Konami franchise that needs to be on the Wii, it's the already mentioned Mystical Ninja. That game is pure genius, and much more suits the motion controls offering then better graphics. I think Konami have handled the Wii great so far. Eledees was a great way of making a game that appeals to both casuals and hardcores (To some extent) and Dewy's Adventure again seems to be doing the same sort of thing. They seems much better then alot of third party efforts. At the same time they still seem like Konami is holding back from making something truly incredible for the Wii, which will hopefully be addressed after the success of Eledees .
Retro_Link Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 Thread *BUMP* OK so the title of the thread doesn't ring quite so true now because they are bringing PES to Wii, but they are still coming out with the same old comments about the Wii... http://www.cubed3.com/news/8864/1/Silent_Hill_Remains_Silent_on_Wii Those hoping for some Silent Hill antics on Wii will be in for a disappointment with Nintendo's ickle white box apparently not hardcore enough to support Konami's horror franchise. WN: What is the future of the Silent Hill series? AY: We’re making Silent Hill 5 for next-gen consoles. Are there any other platforms besides that? [laughter] WN: There’s the Wii. AY: Ah, the Wii. Wiiiiiiiiii… Silent Hill Wii. Can we do it? Will players like it? WN: Yeah! There’s a lot of potential there, using the remote as a flashlight, or a knife… AY: Yeah, there’s potential. WN: But no plans. AY: No plans. The Wii user isn’t a hardcore user. He hadn't even remembered the Wii! Yes the Wii has appealed to the 'casual' gamer and brought new people to gaming that like a specific type of game... Wii Sports, Big Brain Academy etc... but it still has a huge 'hardcore' following [which this forum is proof of]! Surely the PS2 was a casual gamers console, with people who had all different interests in gaming buying one, for all different types of games; but it still got Silent Hill etc...!
Zelda_Rulez Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Just read that at GoNintendo. I'm a bit annoyed at his comments.
Petey Piranah Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Considers Wii a novelty gimmick obviously. A PS2 like end of life cycle performance (with substantially greater profits) would silence him and other skeptics in the industry...
Hellfire Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Remeber that the one who's talking is AKira Yamaoka, the music composer, not the game director. He is made of win though, so I'll forgive him.
Maiky-NiSuTe Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 The Wii user isn’t a hardcore user. Uhm we play metroid prime 3, Zelda, Mario, and they say that that isn't hard core? did they ever try to play one of these games and did they ever finished one of them? konami you make me hate you!! even more than i already did!! Open up your fre*** eye's konami if something looks colerfull and less than other consoles it doesn't meen it is a kids only device or granny only device. please let some one hold me down the next time ill see a "konamiicantseewhatgreatgamesare"
Tyson Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I think you all know what Konami can do to with my balls.
