New RPG by Square-Enix, should be multi-platform release 360 & PS3

The most important thing is its a new ip and the director from The Bouncer is leading it. There will be two main characters that you will be able to play as one called 'Rush' who is supposed to be a typical FF style hero and then 'The Conqueror' who will be a dark brooding anti-hero. They will appeal to both Japanese and American markets. It will be released simultaneously in Japan and North America which will be awesome for importers. I wonder if they will have the dual audio system aswell?

I can't wait. The 360 has so many awesome JRPG games coming, it's awesome. Maybe I should buy it for ps3, as long as the versions are identical. Anyway, I'm very happy to see a new IP from SE.

I don't know, my ps3 needs games too, and it seems to be better built than my 360, who has been sent to repairs 4 times already. (disc read errors, freezings and 3 red lights.). That may not be true, as I haven't owned a ps3 for that long, I do live in Europe like the rest of you. I guess it really doesn't matter if the prize is the same, and the console quality is the same. The achivements aren't a must. + We might get throphies in home for the beating game on ps3, I don't know, but that may be cool?

Though ps3 will get the main FF13, but that was still a long way off, right?

Yeah but I want to see how Blue Dragon performs in America and here because I think S-E might make FF XIII multi-platform if it sells really well. Aswell as Enternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey and Cry On the 360 could start appealling to the hardcore RPG fan that the PS2 attracted.

What are you talking about, Blue Dragon being multiplatform? Or did I read that incorrectly? BD will not be multiplatform, SE isn't making it. Mistwalker and a bunch of others are making BD.

Anyway, yay for JRPG games.

Strange actually. Why is it that Japan likes idealistic 18yr old protagonists?

I've been annoyed lately with the annoying obnoxious young protagonists they seem to have in RPG's like Vaan, Tidus, Kalos, Llyod which seem to me as just annyoing kids.

Whereas I like older characters with some actual experience such as Cloud (21 still seems old enough to me)

I didn't know this could be generalized by location and now I also just feel generalized, rightly so however.

In other news I'll be buying this game :)

They have poor taste, i mean where else can you find people obsessed with cartoons.

I'd love to have some rpg characters in the 30-50 range

I totally agree. I crave a JRPG game that gives you control of some mature people instead of a bunch of snotty nosed young punks. I remember a while ago I ranted on about the same thing to Takeo.

I will keep a close eye on this game, seems like it will be action packed.

US Site lanuched

Really baic site but shows clearly the two main characters.

The one on the left is clearly the Japanese character however I don't think the blond haired one is going to be more attractive to Western gamers. Sure he looks more mature but I wonder if it's like what you guys were going on about.

let's dust this one off since the game was released 3 days ago.

Oh and a handy tip if your annoyed by the loading, pop up textures ect. They are massively reduced if you install the game to you HDD with NXE.

cheers for the heads up on that marcel

i got LR but have to wait until my 360 comes back to play it :( reviews pretty much say its good but it has long loading times and framerate issues.

looks amazing on pics/vids so even so i cant wait to play it

loading times are pretty mutch down with 50% if you install it to your HDD.

With the dvd even the intro movie seems to stutter and the loading times between battles are 7 seconds. And with the install the stutter is gone and the loading time is down to 2-3 seconds.

the battle system is nice and that’s where the unreal engine 3 shows it weaknesses. If you start a battle you have texture pop ins for one second ( if you play it from the dvd it will take 5 to 10 seconds for all the textures to load) And because of the large scale battles you will have frame rate problems (less noticeable when playing from HDD)

Now on to the battle info:

you engage enemies in battle with the left trigger (if I remember correctly) and you can engage as many enemies for one battle if you want. If your in battle you can choose what your groups are going to do. And if you gave commandoes to all your groups you can start your battle and you see your groups fight but that’s not all. Sometimes you will need to press a button combination( to see this go to gametrailers or something).

Oh and important thing the framerate only drops when your in battle, when your exploring towns you wont see it.
