sim1987 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Who here actually gets songs off of games they like? And if you do what ones do you have? I mean things like Gerudo Valley (I don't know its real name) off of Ocarina of Time, or even remixes like Arctic Ambitions off of one of the original 3 sonics (The levels where he snowboards).
Tellyn Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Get as in buy? No, I sometimes listen to them though. I love most of OoT's music.
mcj metroid Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 *Removed Link* I recommend this to anyone who is interested. I just got that tip on retro.
Samdecahedron Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I bought the Final Fantasy X soundtrack, and downloaded VIII and IX, too, because i can't find them anywhere online.
Caris Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Why listen to video game music when there is proper music?
Hellfire Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Why listen to video game music when there is proper music? Why you little punk!
Samdecahedron Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Why listen to video game music when there is proper music? Not all music in games is bleeps like Mario.
Ellmeister Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Now theres a song thats being played by game controllers!
Kurtle Squad Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Why listen to video game music when there is proper music? Because proper music usually has shitty lyrics. Plus, it doesnt make u feel like how u do when playing the game.
Letty Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I certainly do. Especially the jet set radio songs, theyre great < not biased at all..
martinist Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 here is a list of my video game OST's: Metal Gear Solid Final Fantasy X Final Fantasy X-2 Final Fantasy X-2 Piano Collection Final Fantasy X-2 Vocal Collection Final Fantasy X-2 International Sonic Adventure 2 Jet Set Radio Future
Guest Stefkov Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I was in a phase of listening to all the Hyrule Overworld themes a while ago. That's about it.

ipaul Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Why listen to video game music when there is proper music? He's right and I can't imagine wanting to listen to a piece of game music over a piece of proper music. Game music is just there to add to and compliment the experience of the game. Often I find the game's graphics/gameplay/story/ music are very inter-dependent and rely on one another to make a game complete. Taking the music away from that and listening to it on it's own just makes it seem odd to me. Although I can understand a few exceptions (Jet Set Radio I can imagine for example as Letty said) overall game music is pretty crap on it's own. Also @ Kurtle which Game music has decent lyrics?
Hellfire Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Don't be so narrow minded, music doesn't need to have lyrics to be good. That's like saying classic musics composed by the likes of Bethoven or Mozart suck. Also, good game musics are much more melodic and intricate than most musics nowadays that are made of some riffs and a guy singing over it. Game music is music, that's all there is to it. You have all styles of music in all styles of games. Pff.
ipaul Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Don't be so narrow minded, music doesn't need to have lyrics to be good. If thats aimed at me, I never said that. I do like alot of music without lyrics as it happens.
Hellfire Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Well the narrow minded part is aimed at you the lyrics part was a preemptive strike.
Rummy Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I would if I knew somewhere decent to get them. I remember back in the early days of N64 I had a ton of rather cool midis people had made of game music. I've also got a few mp3s of remade music(i lost them now, but I had some metal metroid tunes) also got an ocarina of time/song of time 'techno' remix that I found in attempting to find the song of this short piece of awesomeness, and I also have some crazy bubble bobble techno jungle remix. Other than that, no. I also really want to malo mart music, or an even better rendition of it if anyone's made one.
Kurtle Squad Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Also @ Kurtle which Game music has decent lyrics? None....That's the point. You know, people aren't saying all game music is great on it's own, I only like a few. e.g.: Guile Ken A couple of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 ones Couple of Boss music from Wind Waker Few OOT tunes 1 or 2 Streets of Rage 2 tunes blah blah etc etc. This also includes remixes.
ipaul Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I wouldn't say I'm narrow minded I just don't like game music nearly as much as normal music. I can imagine there being a few small exceptions like I said but on the whole normal music is just better in my opinion(decent normal music as well not generic indie/R & B shit)
Mr. Bananagrabber Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Zelda normally has great music. The original Jet Set Radio has the best soundtrack ever though.
