I'm aware I can't say to much on this subject for legal reasons but I just wanted to ask if on the whole are torrents quite safe.

I mean legally (ie not getting sued) and also virus's.

I'm running windows vista and norten 360 if that helps.

thanks for all the help

Torrents are 100% legal, as long as you dont download anything illigal on them.

Viruses, I run Avast which is pretty amazing, but unless you download crap from random sites your probally safe just scan everything first.

As long as you're not a complete fucking tool... then yes.

Basically don't download "BRITNEY SPEARS NAKED!!!11.EXE" and you'll be fine.

Oh and get rid of Norton, jeeze. That thing is like a virus in itself.

Oh no, feel free to download porn. Just not stupid ones that end in .exe.

Basically, as long as you get the right release groups (check nForce.nl, totally legal, just has nfo files showing what is out etc.) you'll be fine.

I use AVG Free, and always scan something as soon as i've downloaded it to be sure. Never had any viruses from torrents.

Thats exactly what i do aswell, and you cant go wrong doing it that way... well as long as AVG has the latest updates that is... which it should have because it does it automaticly.

You've er... never seen an exe before? Every program you have on Windows will launched with an exe file :D

Torrents are fine as long as you're sensible about it, I mean for starters, if it's got a tonne of seeds, its not likely to be anything dangerous, because if it was a virus people wouldn't keep it :)

A good rule of the thumb for your porn torrents is to have sure they end in .avi

.exe means executable which is a program which is bad and .wma can also have licenses embedded in them, so you open up your file and it says "you need a certain license, go here to obtain it (costs money) or install this (a virus)"

Oh, and why download porn when you can just stream it. Far safer and faster.

Haha, you stud. Jordan, King of Pr0n.

Go a little easy on the guy, we've all been there at some point where somebody says "dot eee exx eee" and we're all like "doubleyoo teee efff?"

Teach the boy. He does not know your ways.

Torrents are only avaible as long as there's people downloading/seeding it, so the more seeds/peers it has, the less probable it is a virus. In sites such as *BLEEP* there's a comment section for each torrent, go there and see if someone has complained about it.
