Tom Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 i really want to go to ATP, but i never quite manage it. A couple of years ago The Mars Volta were curators and it was pretty much the greatest festival line-up ever for me, loads of really obscure bands I love but won't get to see, like Jaga Jazzist. This year Explosions in the Sky are playing, and again I cant go. Cruel cruel world!
harribo Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 the dears are better than the band you're listening to Better than Muse? I think not boyo.
darksnowman Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Better than Muse? I think not boyo. You keep telling it, m'lad. Its good to see this place is in safe hands when I'm not here preaching.
harribo Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Hmm since last January when I first started listening to Muse I have 3033 plays of Muse on Last FM plus however many times I listen to them on my ipod.

ThePigMarcher Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Damn , I have had Machine Head's 'The Blackening' for a week now and still can't stop playing the thing - absolutely incredible.
Ashley Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Trying to compile a playlist for work. So far it consists of; Quietdrive - Time After Time Muse - Feeling Good Klaxons - It's Not Over Yet Big City Rock - Black Betty So im going for awesome covers, but run out after four...
Dan_Dare Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Hurt ala Johnny Cash always springs to mind, as does many ace covers by Ben Folds.
Guest Stefkov Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I just got the songs from the opening and ending of Death Note. I dont really like hard rock or whatever they're classed under but they're pretty good.
Ashley Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Hurt ala Johnny Cash always springs to mind, as does many ace covers by Ben Folds. Hurt is a bit too bleak for the shop floor. And the only covers I know of Ben Folds are Bitches Ain't Shit (which is great but NSFW) and Such Great Heights which is dire.
Dan_Dare Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 ahh, shop floor! thought you meant like on headphones etc. ben folds does a mean Tiny Dancer

Muse - Can't Take My Eyes Off You is another awesome cover by them. Other covers Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal Arctic Monkeys - Love Machine Arctic Monkeys - Baby I'm Yours The Futureheads - Hounds Of Love and thats all I got.

The rules of playlists dictates no two songs by one artist can be used. AAF is alright... Dislike the Arctic Monkeys, and Love Machine is dire. Futureheads ain't bad but ain't great either. Thanks though.

harribo Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 What are cover songs? Songs that an artist sings that were originally sung by another artist.
Guest Stefkov Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 yeah I just remembered after thinking what a dumb question to ask. Ah well forget that then.
Ashley Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 They don't seem like cover songs to me. To be fair, stef said they were songs he thought were awesome, his post could have been coincidental. There are some good songs on there and I don't need to have just cover songs, but would be nice to themate this playlist.
Goron_3 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 i just downloaded 'Mmhmm' (the album) by Relient K. It's refreshing to hear an album where i like all the tracks. Kinda strange considering I usually don't listen to that genre of music.
Platty Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Ashley what about: White Stripes - I just don't know what to do with myself The Futurheads - Hounds of Love I like both
harribo Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 The Futurheads - Hounds of Love You stole my suggestion bitch.
Platty Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 You stole my suggestion bitch. I do apologise. However I didnt even read your post. I just posted in reply to Ashley. But if two of us think of it then surely the song deserves a place on the mix CD of covers.

The fish Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 I think it's arrogant to say that you can only understand music fully as a musician. Not being a musician doesn't make my opinion worth anything less. It seems a lame excuse to say "You don't like it because you don't understand." That's BS. Maybe I don't have the talent to play music, but that doesn't mean I can't understand what I hear. Those are in fact, two entirely different things. My opinion exactly. A good way of illustrating this is football. I am OK at playing football. However, if England play poorly, then I know it even though I am not actually a member of a national squad. Some people are so stuck up their own arses.
