Shame she doesn't seem to do Back of a Truck live anywhere.

Man, I hope I can see her live some time. She's just so awesome not only as a musician, but also as a person

57 is absolutely amazing by Biffy and its the only non puzzle song they played at Leeds fest. Shame for everyone that hates Puzzle but i love it so :)

You've inspired me to listen to her again! She's an awesome artist, but for some reason, I don't listen to her for ages at a time. July was the last time I listened to a whole album of hers.

While Begin To Hope is her "worst" it's still pretty great.

the production on Begin To Hope was some of the worst production i have ever heard, and i personally cannot listen to it.
Yeah, production isn't that great, though the songs are pretty powerful as always. It's the album that got me into Regina (:indeed:) though, so I don't really mind. I don't mind the new poppy sound at all, but it just doesn't click that well. Nonetheless, only Summer in the City and 20 Years Of Snow are weakish songs, and Edit has horrible production, but is essentially a good song.

Soviet Kitsch is so much better though. Need to listen more to 11:11 and Songs.

Begin To Hope's production is by no means bad.."worst" makes it sound cheap. It sounds great, but I suppose one can like it less than her more minimalist sound before. I do.

[old man] Listen to Neil Young, peons [/old man]

I see what you did there.

Anyway, on the topic of Biffy, I agree, Mountains is far from their best, yet it's the only one everyone knows ¬.¬ Their piano version of it is epic though.

And the are amazing live.

And, on a completely unrelated note, today I discovered what must be one of the best websites ever.

Sessions across Paris, in the streets, cafés, back of pick up trucks, on the metro... it's fantastic.

I highly recommend the Yeasayer & Arcade Fire ones in particular

I'm downloading a Biffy Clyro discography. Time to see what this here fuss be about (well, soon enough. It's kind of slow atm)

Puzzle's pretty cool. Nothing revolutionary or "that" good, but it's pretty great. : peace:

And now an update on Muse from Dom;

Hello..

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd try and breath a little life back into this page and post an update.

Anyway, we're back in Devon working on a symphonic monster among other things and should hopefully start a bit of real recording in a couple of weeks. Definitely excited and already looking forward to playing this stuff on the road next year..

Its nice to be back down here working on music together which is something we haven't done for a very long time. Maybe about 8 years!.. Jesus, Its been too long. So we've been retracing some old steps and remembering where we came from.

There has also been another addition to the Wolstenholme family. Hopefully they will start their own band one day...

Cheers,

Dom.

New Muse album and tour for next year then. I can't wait!! :yay:

New album next year?! That'd be brilliant! Sooner than expected for me actually. Will definitely hope to see them live - wouldn't surprise me to see them playing the festivals either.

Sounds like Matts 40 minute psychidelic rock symphony is becoming reality then. AWESOME!

And a tour next year, I am going to that. Tickets could cost £1000, I'd make sure I got there.

I didn't say worst anywhere :heh: You've got to admit that Begin to Hope is a bit overdone in some places. Take Fidelity - Regina Spektor, the sweet, shy Russian girl, beginning an album with "shake it up"?

Doesn't mean it isn't great music, though. Begin to Hope is really great stuff.

been there done that, got a belt from it, met dom =D

I was just getting into Muse around the time of the BHAR tour and missed their gig by a couple of weeks :(

I agree with you for the most part. Obviously Soviet Kitsch and 11:11 are ten times better (dunno about Songs, don't own it, I assume so though).

However, can I ask why she has to be "shy" and "sweet"? Her music shows that she's hardly a wallflower, she has rock-y tracks, and some of the subject matter of her songs is ingeniously perverted in places! :yay:

I'm sure you only meant it in emphasis. It's not like she shouts "Everybody! Move yo body to the beats I iz pumping!". Though I might love that, just cause it would be the biggest joke I'd ever hear.

When I saw Vampire Weekend they had this support Ra Ra Riot who I thought were pretty damn good.

So I got their album at the actual gig which I haven't done for a while, and now I cannot stop listening to it. Recommend you people give it a go.
