Gizmo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Anyone in to Modeselektor? They were supposed to be supporting Radiohead when I went to see them but for some reason they didn't play. Any good? It's hard to really form an opinion on these low-quality vids, especially without fully following the lyrics. They're also going to be recording their new album after their summer tour ends, but haven't set a deadline for themselves to release it. Awesomes.
Ellmeister Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I saw Kaiser Chiefs at V the other day, and I was wondering if I'd know many of their songs considering I never got round to purchasing their albums, but actually I knew almost every song they played apart from new ones of course. So now I went and bought the albums just because they freaking rock. Also listening to the killers more in preparation for Reading:)
Dan_Dare Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 They were supposed to be supporting Radiohead when I went to see them but for some reason they didn't play. Any good? Awesomes. They're steak sauce. They (he, she, it? no idea) make very good electro bleepy ness. Some very eclectic styles mixed in though from all over the place- hip hop, dub, techno. All sorts. They did an awesome collaboration with Thom Yorke called The White Flash.
Paj! Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Yeah, Alanis was amazing last night. That Particular Time was my highlight just because of all the songs she could have played from Under Rug Swept she chose such a random one (I love it though). She was kinda funny in her actions, like she had to run up to the mic bewfore singing, and had loads of running fits during uninvited (but I know that's what she does though). At the wall-of-sound-epileptic-fit-inducing-light-show ending to Moratorium, she was spinning on the spot for literally 2 minutes, before launching into You Oughta Know. I just love.
Dante Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 On August 21-- as in this Thursday-- Bloc Party will digitally release Intimacy, their unexpectedly imminent third full-length LP. A physical release of Intimacy, featuring different tracks from the digital incarnation, is due October 28 from Atlantic in the U.S., and October 27 in the UK via Wichita. You can flip on over to the Bloc Party website to preorder your copy of Intimacy in whichever form you please right this instant, if you'd like. If you pre-order the physical version, you get the digital version as well. Intimacy is being released in this increasingly more orthodox fashion to combat the kind of leakage that got A Weekend in the City out on the web many months before its eventual release. The album was produced by Silent Alarm's Paul Epworth and Weekend's Jackknife Lee and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins), and it's being described as "wildly experimental" in parts and "simply classic Bloc Party" in others. Bloc Party have a few dates to attend to throughout the coming months, and promise more in the States later on in 2008. Intimacy: 01 Ares 02 Mercury 03 Halo 04 Biko 05 Trojan Horse 06 Signs 07 One Month Off 08 Zephyrus 09 Better Than Heaven 10 Ion Square (No "Flux") Bloc Party: 08-21 Dublin, Ireland - Marlay Park 08-23 Reading, England - Reading Festival 08-24 Leeds, England - Leeds Festival 09-05 Detroit, MI - Royal Oak 09-06 Toronto, Ontario - Virgin Festival 09-09 Edmonton, Alberta - Edmonton Events Centre # 09-10 Calgary, Alberta - MacEwan Hall # 09-12 Quebec City, Quebec - Envol Macadam 09-13 Fredericton, New Brunswick - Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival 09-14 Halifax, Nova Scotia - The Marquee Club ^ 09-15 Halifax, Nova Scotia - The Marquee Club ^ 09-17 Montreal, Quebec - Metropolis % # with Foals ^ with Apostle of Hustle % with Holy Fuck
Paj! Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I'll be getting Bloc Party's new album. Never been inclined to, but I like the direction they're going with Mercury, plus if Biko is a Gabriel cover, that's a plus, as it's my favourite song by him.
Sanchez Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii yes I will be buying this.
Dyson Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 No Flux? And Mercury? Fuuucking hate Mercury. I'll get the album anyway.
Davey_T Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Slipknot album finally leaked . Its good on the first listen but some songs are boring. Hope it grows on me

chairdriver Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I love "Jesus Loves Me" by CocoRosie. Proving a point a bit too well.
Sanchez Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I don't know how well known Mates of State are, but they're the best happy music ever.
Solo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Ah I've only heard their cover of Phantom Planet's California on one OC episode. It was nice.
Slaggis Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 The Veronicas - Take Me On The Floor What is with all these bisexual anthems lately? I Kissed a Girl, Take Me On The Floor...what next? Not that I'm complaining, but it's like the new fad. Though to be fair, on of the sisters is Bisexual, but still. If you can' be arsed to watch, it just goes "I want to kiss a girl, I want to kiss a girl, I wanna kiss a boy...Ow!". I love the "Now, everybody kiss.." - would be great in a club.
triforce_keeper Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Love it ^_^ Will be downloading ooooh Haggis, I also got Solange's album, it's amazing, in a weird way XD Wasn't what I was expecting, but still love it

Jon Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Been listening to a lot of John Mayer recently. The guys a genius.
Dan_Dare Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I'd..disagree. He has a nice voice and all but I never found his music particularly thrilling. He has his moments though, and his cover of Kid A is pretty good.

Have to say I quite like that song but I feel it just needs a dance remix or something, to liven it up a bit.
Paj! Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Have to say I quite like that song but I feel it just needs a dance remix or something, to liven it up a bit. My thoughts exactly. I came across 2 interesting little gems last night; the Sidechains Remix of Into The Groove, which is amazing, and Dragonette's ZZ Topp cover (which is ok, but nothing liketheir best stuff).
Dan_Dare Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 guys, seriously: !!! are the best rock band on the market atm. I know I throw names at you lot now and again but you must give this lot the time of your ears. They're just sublime.
Ashley Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Nobody listens to anything anybody posts here. They just come in, orgasm over a song/artists and the next person does the same :p
Sanchez Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Nobody listens to anything anybody posts here. They just come in, orgasm over a song/artists and the next person does the same :p It's quite annoying, I don't post here much because I've only ever gotten feedback once on anything I post. I mean sure I don't expect everyone to praise my posts or anything but when I ask for soft string music I thought at someone would be able to help. Anyway, I love the new bloc party album, so much. "Trojan Horse", "Better than heaven" and "One month off" in particular.
