Daft Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I'm a fan of the crapness that is EuroVision but holy sh*t France are not playing by the rules this year. Step up Sebastian Tellier!! http://www.eurovision.tv/event/artistdetail?song=23991&event=1469 It isn't the Danger remix which is a lot better imo but it is still an awesome song (and an even better video). I'm going to post the Danger remix as well...because it would be a crime not to and no one should miss it.
Gizmo Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 God damn. I just discovered Finch are doing a gig in Glasgow on Friday but the damn thing is sold out. I am sad panda
chairdriver Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I cannot stress how awesome Santogold is. Although I kinda hate NME, I have to agree with them when they say she is the "queen of pop in 2008". This song has the potential to be massive. I'll clap if it does get big, just because it's not cliched pop.
killthenet Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Awesome? It's just dull and it's pretty standard as pop records go.
chairdriver Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Awesome? It's just dull and it's pretty standard as pop records go. Stop lying. :p Name me a better chart-friendly song out at the moment.
Paj! Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 To be fair, you exaggerate anyone vaguely non-cliche that's becoming big. It's not obviously amazing. I like it, though. I think it's too un-catchy to get anywhere real on the charts, though it'd be good to see something different getting noticed.
Daft Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 You want a good non cliched pop band? Terry Poison - http://www.myspace.com/terrypoisonmusic They remind me a lot of CCS actually.
Davey_T Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 God damn. I just discovered Finch are doing a gig in Glasgow on Friday but the damn thing is sold out. I am sad panda Finch are amazing. So glad they got back together
Paj! Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 You want a good non cliched pop band? Terry Poison - http://www.myspace.com/terrypoisonmusic They remind me a lot of CCS actually. Not particularly CSS-y (they have WAY more energy), but kinda interesting nonetheless.
Daft Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Not particularly CSS-y (they have WAY more energy), but kinda interesting nonetheless. Haha! Very true. I stumbled across this lot because they share the same record label a Danger (I also found a couple of absolutely awesome DJs). I'd be interested to hear an album by this lot.
Mr-Paul Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 EuroVision I eurovision! Best entries this year: LATVIA! PIRATES! SPAIN! Plus the french one that Daft posted! Our song is terrible. Andy Abraham from X Factor doing some cheesy 70s disco pop
Gizmo Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Finch are amazing. So glad they got back together Agree, I want a new album! but i want tickets to fridays gig more ;-;
chairdriver Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 The Kills' new single - Last Day Of Magic My favourite song off the album. The video isn't what I expected, but it's pretty cool.
Tom Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I'm getting very excitied about ATP http://www.atpfestival.com/events/explosions/, only 1 day to go now! It's my 3rd time going (went to ATP vs the Fans last may and Portishead ATP in December). There are some bands playing who I am really really excitied to see, and virtually all of them will be bands i've not seen before (Explosions in the Sky, Battles, Eluvium & Okkervil River are the only bands plaing I have seen before). Most looking forward to: Explosions in the Sky Mono Iron & Wine Battles Four Tet ...And You Will Know us by the Trail of the Dead. Anyone playing who I may not have listened to who are a must see?
Hem Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Animal Collective Saul Williams Silver Jews Stars of the Lid Mono The Field Raekwon Wow, basically the whole fucking lineup. Have a great time
jayseven Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Time for some , and a pretty cool "acoustic" version of , if you ask me.

Definately go and see Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Animal Collective and Dinosaur Jr. Jens Lenkman was surprisingly good at the Pitchfork ATP last weekend, so you should check him out as well if there's no clashes. It's a shame that Liars pulled out though, they were clearly the best band on the bill. I'm a bit disappointed with this line-up though, its mostly just generic ATP bands who have played the festival countless times before, Pitchfork definately had a more enticing line-up and the prospect of going to the Camber site again was too great to miss. I'm sure it'll still be a hell of a lot of fun though man, make sure you get to plenty of chalet parties!
Dog-amoto Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Has anybody chcked out http://www.missionmetallica.com yet? Got small sections of their new songs. Sounds fucking awesome! Can't wait for this one!

Daft Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Daft's Discoveries of the Week (Get the reference?....no?....fine....) I'm going to try and do a bi-monthly update where I tell everyone about all the new awesome music I have stumbled across. (Depending on my memory, this might be the first and last.) First up, is Léonard de Léonard http://www.myspace.com/leonizer I recommend having a listen to 'Crack It' and 'Leonizer Fever'. This is 'Crack It': Next up is DatA (Yes I know it this dude ain't new but I don't care ). http://www.myspace.com/0data0 This is Aerius Light, awesome song: Finally, CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES. Great name I know. :p http://www.myspace.com/chewychocolatecookies I have no idea what this song is, I think it is a mash of a few of their songs. Hope everyone enjoys!!
Paj! Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Crack It's ok. That Data song is cool, if a little too long. My favourite is probably Chewy Chocolate Cookies. I listened to their normal stuff on MySpace. I love their name too.
Tales Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Gods, Serebro's cd is a joke. I have listened to the first 8 tracks of 21 and 5 of them are Song Nr 1 with different instruments and rhythm. And according to the cover track 7 to 17 are all Song Nr 1. They have just added a colour next to it, like 9: Song Nr 1 (Violet version). Also got Ruslana: Wild Dances. Dancing with Wolves is awesome. Have had it on repeat almost every time I'm on Internet the last few days.
Dante Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 New Metroid Metal track is out. Theme / Bryyo from Metroid Prime 3.
Paj! Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 http://www.myspace.com/natalieportmansshavedhead I love their name, therefore I love them.
