Hem Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Muse, Klaxons and Kaiser Chiefs. That is literally the biggest load of crap i've ever heard in my life, them winning over Muse and Klaxons. Hardly a strong competition is it. Muse are great live, but they've won that award so many times in the last few years, and have been touring on the strength of their previous album for close to two years now. Recent Klaxons gigs have improved, but mainly due to the atmosphere created by the crowd at these gigs, they are by no means a strong live act. As for the Kaisers, not bad but hardly inspiring. That Miles Davis album ftw. It's a good 'un. BTW, did you check out any of the recommendations I gave you?

Muse live are epic, its one thing making music in the studio, but being able to recreate it and improve it onn stage live is another matter.
Ashley Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Pete Yorn anyone? Been listening to musicforthemorningafter for the last few hours. Beautiful stuff.

I think I may like it over the actual album! More my style really
Paj! Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Bought Massive Attack: Collected today. I've probably mentioned her before, but, LAURA MARLING! Amazing talent. Fucking great album too.
Dyson Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Bought Massive Attack: Collected today. Great choice.
Hem Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 You know what's a better choice though? Buying Blue Lines and Mezzanine.
Raining_again Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Take that.Best live act. Over Muse. What The Fuck. .... Are take that ever live?
Slaggis Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Bleeding Love Video (US version) The UK version is a whole lot better. It's gaining popularity in America now (Up 40 places on iTunes) so looks as though she may have just done what most british artists can only dream of doing, i.e crack America. With Amy Winehouse, Natasha Bedingfield etc we suddenly seem to be doing quite well over there.
Ashley Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Seeing as Pete Yorn went by un-noticed, how about Devendra Banhart? Fallen in love with Santa Maria Da Feira.
Dan_Dare Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Bleeding Love is actually a pretty awesome pop song. Might be a guilty one but it's still a pleasure.
chairdriver Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 The one thing that pisses me off the most at the moment is when people say Britney Spear's career is in tatters. Realistically Gimme More was one of the biggest selling singles of 2007, and Piece Of Me is already sold shitloads. She's hardly doing bad for herself.
Dan_Dare Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 they are shit though, yeah? I mean, they fucking blow so hard it's not even funny. Toxic! Now that's a good track.
Ashley Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Its more her personal life is in tatters, but thats part and parcel of celebrity life lately. Speaking of, can't wait to see Dirt's parody of her.
Platty Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Saw Vampire Weekend at ULU tonight. Was pretty good apart from the fire alarm going off but yeah. Cool band.
Slaggis Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 they are shit though, yeah? I mean, they fucking blow so hard it's not even funny. Toxic! Now that's a good track. I didn't think Peices of Me was that bad, not something I'd choose to listen to paticularly, but it's not terrible unlike Gimme More. But yeah, Toxic is a great track. -- I loathe the idea of girls aloud, but I can't stop listening to a couple of their songs. It's like some sort of guilty pleasure.
killthenet Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Supersonic line-up has been announced, looking fucking ace. Battles, Harmonia, Wooden Shjips, Max Tundra, Earth, Magnetaphone, Harvey Milk. Going to be damn good fun, especially if Throbbing Gristle play.
Hem Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I loathe the idea of girls aloud, but I can't stop listening to a couple of their songs. It's like some sort of guilty pleasure. Don't be! They're one of the best female fronted pop groups of the last decade 40 years.
killthenet Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Damn right, "Models" on "Chemistry" is one of the greatest pop songs ever written. It sounds a hell of a lot like Devo, which for a very mainstream girl group is unprecedented. "Chemistry" & "What Will The Neighbours Say?" are both brilliant pop albums, despite the few filler tracks that populate them.
killthenet Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 That's debatable, and VV looks weird in that video. For me "Colours Move" by Fuck Buttons is the best song of the year so far.
Wesley Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I just bought tickets to see Elbow live in April. I have tickets to see Radiohead in June. I will buy tickets to see Leonard Cohen. Also, Two Gallants are supporting Elbow. Could this year be the best year of gigs for me?
