Fierce_LiNk Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I really, REALLY can't stand Hot Chip. Am I alone with this feeling, as generally people seem to like them on here. Somebody must share my pain...anybody?
ipaul Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Whoo, some of the first names for the Rock Werchter festival got announced today. Already sounds like it will be great! =D R.E.M., dEUS, Lenny Kravitz, Radiohead, Counting Crows, The Chemical Brothers, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Kaiser Chiefs, Sigur Ros, Mika, Nightwish, Editors, RoÃsÃn Murphy, The Hives, Chris Cornell, The Kooks, Air Traffic, Justice, Digitalism, KT Tunstall, Beirut, Gossip, John Butler Trio, Band of Horses. Paj! Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Chairdriver lent me The Warning by Hot Chip and I keep meaning to listen to it, but theres always something that sounds like a better prospect.. One day, i'll listen to it.
Solo Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Listening to Utopia and Time Out From The World again reminded me that Goldfrapp should so record a Bond song!

Paj! Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm listening to it. I passed Boy From School. It's not leaving much of an impact. I'm on Colours now. It's not doing much atm, but I have to listen to it all. Listening to Utopia and Time Out From The World again reminded me that Goldfrapp should so record a Bond song! They were going to, weren't they? For Casino Royale. I heard about it, but would love to actually hear their idea...
Hellfire Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Err... no I didn't. Do you think I'm dumb? /QUOTE] I'm kidding you idiot, don't you think I know your phone number? But yeah, I think you're dumb
Oxigen_Waste Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I'm listening to it. I passed Boy From School. It's not leaving much of an impact. I'm on Colours now. Honey... Boy From School is the best song of 2006. Seriously, listen to it on repeat some 10 times or so. You'll understand. There's something so beautifully sad about the way he says "we try... but we don't belong", it's so depressingly perfect. Dear god, that song gives me chills every single time I hear it. But I assure you... it's an acquired taste, you'll learn to love it, in no time.
killthenet Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Colours Move by Fuck Buttons is pretty much the best music ever to me at the moment.
Paj! Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Just heard Nine In The Afternoon (Panic At The Disco's new single). Very unimpressed. Lacks the kooky insanity of the other album. Hopefullt it's just this song.
Hem Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Personally I think Nine in the Afternoon is the best thing Panic have ever produced. Such a wonderful little pop song, thanks to it being produced at Abbey Road. Can definetely hear some Beatles influences.
Dan_Dare Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 talk of Hot Chip? I saw them last night- they rocked the house so, so hard
Calza Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I saw them on Jools Holland last night, still havn't grown on me yet. I will listen to them some more....

It'll grow on me, but right now, it's so very middle-of-the-road. It's fine not to be confrontational or original or particularly interesting, but there has to be SOME kind of appeal...
Ellmeister Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Just heard Nine In The Afternoon (Panic At The Disco's new single). Very unimpressed. Lacks the kooky insanity of the other album. Hopefullt it's just this song. This man speaks the truth! Still looking forward to their album though
Calza Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Yeah I might go see them at T in the Park, depends on what else is on at the same as I heard they are pretty poor live.
Ellmeister Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Yeah I might go see them at T in the Park, depends on what else is on at the same as I heard they are pretty poor live. I thought they were pretty damn good at Reading last year =] But thats just what I thought, perhaps the sleep deprivation, the scorching sun and the huge amount of alcohol I had drunk the night before has altered my mind as to how bad they were :p
Dan_Dare Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 for the record: Panic! at the disco should be locked in windowless cells and left to die alone.
gaggle64 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Personally, I'd rather just kill them quick and forget they ever existed as soon as possible.
Demuwan Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 for the record: Panic! at the disco should be locked in windowless cells and left to die alone. Hahaha. So true. So damn true.
Paj! Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 At least they try to be funny. Being fairly unique for a "popular" band. That's why I was so annoyed by their new single. ------------ Opinions; Tori Amos covered Raining Blood by Slayer for an album in 2001. I happen to think her version is a hundred times better (bias? I don't think so..). It's haunting and efing creepy. All ethereal. Slayer's is pure metal (blah), and just isn't as scary as hers. Sure, live, I'd prefer to be in the whole metal atmosphere, but hers trumps it any other day for me. Tori Amos - Raining Blood I just find their version to be cliche. Can't even hear the lyrics, making them void of any emotion/imagery they carry (which is evident in her version).
Hem Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Haven't we had this debate before? Oh, and Jens Lekman, amazing huh?
Paj! Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Probably. But someone of another forum was so very disparigign of Tori, just because she covered it. Not even about the song. Also made her out to be stupid, so I was annoyed. ----- I'll listen to the rest of The Warning by Hot Chip once I finish American Doll Posse(again!). Also; Everyone check out Laura Marling, so talented for a 17 year old.
