Snow Patrol annoy me, because some of their songs (like 2) I LOVE, and some annoy me to hell (Chasing effing cars).

With Leona's voice, it makes Run a lot better. I kinda liked their version too though, after I saw them live.

Chasing Cars is Snow Patrol's worst song, so overrated.

I heard Spitting Games and Chocolate the other day, and I remembered that SP were actually very good.

To be honest, you can have your opinions, but please try not to be a dickhead when you have them. You belittle a person when you belittle their musical tastes. Learn to properly respect them. Why don't you just say you don't like that artists and say why? Why the insults?

*awaits reply/witty remark/example of how respectful you are*

I can't help the way I am.

Seriously, though, I just don't get how people can find anything to like in such over produced, repetitive monotony, made for deficient, inattentive pricks who make a mockery of what music is and can be... How does the music make you feel? Like you can sing along to it for 3 minutes? What does it leave you with when it's done? Fuck all.

See? It's hard for me not to get worked up.

At the end of the day, The Bard, we can all find faults in the music people listen to aswell.

The difference is that most can do it without totally offending the said person, and can uphold their dignity whilst doing so.

Tbh, all this "My music is the best, therefore you are all worthless pieces of shit" attitude really doesn't do anything to make anyone like you.

Because there is nothing to mindless shredding, it's the most boring use of an instrument possible. Who are you to dictate what music is? Simple melodies and lyrics were around far before sweep picking and two hand tapping became EVH's nightly wet dream. Take Frank Zappa, that dude was a musical genius who put's anyone to shame, yet he didn't overload songs with pointless techniques.

You seem to be under some type of illusion that the music you listen to is the benchmark that all should be judged by.

Just don't post it on here, jesus how hard is it to just not type it?

Music doesn't have to be this insanely thought through, insanely well created stuff. It can just be something simple, that makes you sing along and enjoy. After singing along to songs i like it leaves me feeling good. That's what it leaves you with.

Apart from grammatical inaccuracies, you clearly don't read what I post.

As for insulting people, the truth is often insulting, especially since I skip the whole spoonful of sugar thing, or lube, and stick it straight up your ass, still, I'm not bothered; I don't come here to be a people person, or for popularity, people that like me do so cause they know I really don't give a shit whether they do or don't.

So if you can cut the "oh I'm so offended" bullshit, and go ahead and point out what deficiencies you see in other people's tastes, without referring to cliches, well that would be a huge step forward for everyone involved. After all, it's a discussion. I wouldn't be half as pissed off if someone actually thought up a decent response for a change rather than "ugh...it's my opinion, respect it, damn you!"

Personally I prefer a more screaming or at least non "perfect" voice as I feel people with voices like Leona just don't portray emotion.

Whereas someone like Geoff Rickly (Thursday lead singer) who has a singing/screaming voice that many would say is horrible makes up for it by the amount of emotion you can here in his voice.

Oh all the melodrama! I might just faint.. hope someone can catch my fall....

Try take this less seriously for christ´s sake.... So he offended your taste in music. Whoopi-dee-fucketti-doo. I guess your day is ruined then?

It all come´s down to your own opinion and if you like stating your own opinion don´t be so shocked when someone criticizes it.

Because there is no right opinion when it comes to artistic things, it´s all a big

gray area.

I hate it when people go all defensive when someone speaks badly of theyre music opinion and then just go: "itsmyopinionitsmyopinionitsmyopinionitsmyopinionitsmyopinionitsmyopinion"

If you don´t like it when someone speaks foully of your music tastes either defend properly it or just let it lie.

my 2 cents

Frank Zappa is a king, but I guess you're too busy to hear that, because you seem to be under the delusion that all I listen to is shred. I don't. I don't even like shred, it's boring to listen to. I learned how to do it so I have the ability to do whatever the fuck I want as a musician. My developing interests as an instrumentalist are different to my interests in music. Now kindly shut the fuck up and stop objecting the same fucking thing over and over. We get it, you don't like solos. Personally, I think it's all bout the tone of the song. Would you want a solo in a song like Numbered Days? No. Would Stairway be the same song without the solo? No, it would not.

Maybe you don't give a shit about me, I don't really care much for you either.

That fact is, just because this is the internet it doesn't give you free license to call someone a "soulless drone" just because they said they liked a particular singer.

I doubt you would say that to my face if I were with you. And why should it be different on the internet? This forum was set up for a reason, so people can socialise and talk about a common thing. It wasn't set up so people can hide behind their screen and actively be antisocial towards other members.

Eh? Yes it does. Well crafted or thought out songs and simple songs aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. It where they're badly thought out, and formulaic that it gets shitty.

The "good" feeling, eh? That's more than a little vague, but ok.

Hi, I'm The Bard. I shit all over your faces because it's all you worthless beings deserve.

Etc.

Er, no mate. Where do you think the phrase "holy shit" came from? :heh:

No, I would not, but then, I doubt I'd talk to you at all, face to face. It's different on a forum because:

fo·rum

n.

A public meeting place for open discussion.

A medium for open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.

A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.

A court of law; a tribunal.

Who cares if a song is formulaic or if a song is simple? Really, who cares? If the song makes you want to sing along, makes you want to get up and, dance, puts a smile on your face etc then what the fucks the problem with it? It doesn't make it bad music, and saying it does just shows how ignorant you're being.

(btw earlier, when I said not liking slipknot, I meant just slipknot, not the entire genre of music.)

So because something is formulaic, it automatically is terrible? No. Something can tweak the formula ever so slightly and become a great song. Just because something is't deep and meaningful etc does not make it bad. I mean, say you're talking about a movie. Transformers is very different to say, Brokeback Mountain. Ones well scripted, well acted, and in general is a brilliant movie. One is not that paticularly renowned for it's acting, has a wierd plot but it still manages to be a good, fun movie. (If you don't like Transformers, then you should still get my point).

Do you even see what I'm trying (not that well) to get over to you?

Ah, but you're mistaking deep and meaningful with non-formulaic. Things don't have to be deep or meaningful to be good, but they have to be inspired. That what makes a song formulaic... uninspired shitness.

Brokeback Mountain in incredibly overrated...

Transformers would've been a perfect movie, if it weren't for the human characters in it.

I'd give both a 7. And they're both good movies. Despite their differences.

Now... Avril Lavigne is bad formulaic crap because it has no soul or inspiration. Simple, huh?

Avril Lavigne is comparable to Ultraviolet.

Went and saw Jill Scott last night and WOW. Just wow, wow, wow. She had a band that was so tight, everything was perfect. Then this combined with her voice and lyrics and just everything. Her voice is just incredible, so powerful and full of emotion and at one point she went into an operatic style that was... hmmm how to describe it, you know the bit in The Fifth Element where you have musical interlude with Plava Laguna, well it was like that, but live right there in front of me leaving me amazed. She had the crowd in the palm of her hand the whole way using her storytelling and lyrics. At the end she got us all involved in a bit of a gospel style sing-a-long which was a real feel good moment.

Anyway, I enjoyed it a lot is what I'm getting at.

No one really gives a fuck what you or nitrogen rubbish listen to or how god like you both are, stop forcing your narrow minded opinions on others. We get what music you dislike, so stop fucking harping on about it everytime someone mentions a band you don't like. Remember that and all will be splendid.
