... Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Oh and the brush stroke with the Wii-mote is great, but also very very delicate. It found it hard to pick up the 'slice the rock in two' technique...so thats slightly worrying as well (cause it's a simple straight line...gulp.lol) I read that holding C helps you draw straight lines.
Dante Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Capcom replace Okami box art in US Capcom are offering to replace the US Okami for Wii box art because it was shipped with the ign watermark. "If you purchased Okami for the Wii, for a limited time, you can choose from one of the three art pieces below and Capcom will ship a high-quality version of the box cover straight to your door." You can order your replacement here. I can honestly say that my worst day at Capcom was this Monday. After releasing Okami for the Wii last week to some great reviews (Metacritic Average: 88), one of our Okami diehard fans discovered that the folks who work here at Capcom are, in fact, human and can make mistakes. I’m speaking of the watermark that appeared on the cover of Okami. It’s sadly one of those things that’s hard to spot if you don’t know what your looking for, but the moment you see it, it becomes obvious and stares you in the face. As fans know, the real art of Okami is on the Game Disc itself, but given the artistic nature of this game, we’d like the outside of the box to match the beauty contained within. To that end, we’re offering a free make-good gift to our fans. If you purchased Okami for the Wii, for a limited time, you can choose from one of the three art pieces below and Capcom will ship a high-quality version of the box cover straight to your door. Each piece is sized to fit perfectly into your Okami Wii box and will transform your copy into the best-looking game on your shelf. Just head to http://www.capcom.com/artredemption/, fill out the form, and go back to playing Okami while you patiently wait for your new, improved art to make its way to you. Thanks again for being a fan of both Capcom and Okami! Now get back to painting! News Source: blog.capcom.com/archives
Hellfire Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I got this! It's obviously brilliant (cause i have played the PS2 version) BUT i may have forgot something, or i'm doing something wrong...but the combat doesn't seem to work properly with the Wii-Mote? I'm sure you can swing the round plate on your back as many times as possible, when you first play (and not have to upgrade anything) BUT it won't recognise a swing from the remote one after the other...it's like you can hit the enemy once and then you have to run around for a little while before being able to do it again...which is going to be a bloody nightmare later on in the game! Oh and the brush stroke with the Wii-mote is great, but also very very delicate. It found it hard to pick up the 'slice the rock in two' technique...so thats slightly worrying as well (cause it's a simple straight line...gulp.lol) You need to time your swings, you can't swing randomly. Which is much better than the button mashing-fest it was before.
Owen Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 OK! Cool! So it's me doing it wrong (on both things) oh thank-god for that! At least it ain't the game!
Jamba Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Also, is this a budget title? Would seem to be a good idea as it's a port.
DCK Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Also, is this a budget title? Would seem to be a good idea as it's a port.It is in the US. $29.99 I believe, so around €18 for importers. Edit - it's $39.99/€25.
Sparko Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 So it'll probably be 40euro for us, they don't usually convert directly.

Eenuh Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Eh, when will this be out? Because I got a newsletter from Nintendo today with the new release list and general game info, and there was a link to the Okami page on the Nintendo website. The date there reads 28/03/2008...
The-Ironflame Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 It's out on the 13th of June apparently. http://www.livewii.fr/news/93645/Okami-date-pour-l-039-Europe.html?c=0
darksnowman Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 It's out on the 13th of June apparently.http://www.livewii.fr/news/93645/Okami-date-pour-l-039-Europe.html?c=0 From that link: Le mois de juin sera chaud. "The month of June is going to be hot. Okami was recently released in the US, receiving excellent review after excellent review and Capcom has just officially confirmed its release date for Europe. Other than the release of Brawl on the 27th, mark the 13th of June in your diary- the date when Okami will be available from in Europe."
Kurtle Squad Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 ONM 95% I might get this after a while...once I get some money. Adding it to my IGN "want list"...
Deathjam Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Im gonna have to go without food for awhile to afford this AND brawl. Then barricade my door so the family doesn't disturb me while I get my gaming on.
Tellyn Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 My hype level for this has skyrocketted, I just read the NGamer preview from my issue which arrived over a month late.
welsh_gamer Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Likewise, but from other material Have just pre-ordered it from Play.com
Hellfire Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 According to Capcom's Sven whatsisname it sold less than 100k units, but it's within their expectations.
Tales Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Already completed it once on PS2, but it cost almost half of the average Wii game so I thought I play through it once again since my PS2 doesn't work anymore and the save is long gone. Good game, but now without flaws. Think I rated it 9/10 back then.
darksnowman Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Good game, but now without flaws. Think I rated it 9/10 back then. So if its now without its flaws, you'd have to go one better and rate it as a perfect 10, right?
Tales Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 No, I rate them after how fun I have with them. Okami's flaws was annoying and destroyed some of the fun, like the superlong and incredibly boring boss battle that you have to fight a dozen time during the game and the sometime uninspiring and dull areas. And as far as I know, nothing has changed in the game except for Wii controls. But since I'm not rating games based on cons and pros, who knows, maybe the new controls will earn it one extra point.
That Guy Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Anyone played both versions? I didn't play much of the PS2 version but got the Wii version pre ordered. Are the control issues specific to the Wii version or is it just that the brush strokes are difficult to get right in either versions?
NotAshley Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I haven't played it on the Wii yet unfortunately but I'm unaware of any control issues; if anything I'd imagine the Remote makes using the Celestial Brush easier. Speaking of US sales, here's what Mr Whatsisname said!
