shade Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 from engadget http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/14/mad-catz-readying-its-own-wiimote-nunchuck/ If you've managed to secure yourself a Nintendo Wii, and have managed to stay relatively safe while playing, you still might be leading a fruitless search to find yourself a few extra Wiimotes. Oddly enough, some parts of the country are still facing Wiimote shortages, while locales like the Nintendo World store in NYC has just under a gazillion or so. Nevertheless, it looks like Mad Catz just might readying a rescue effort, as a cameraphone-packin' Wal-Mart employee happened to snap a few pics of what appears (fairly clearly) to be a third-party Wiimote / nunchuck combo. Of course, we've no way of verifying Mad Catz's plans, nor any way to tell if these shots foretell the future, but this definitely wouldn't mark the first time a Mad Catz peripheral got leaked way before its supposed release date. Be sure to hit the read link for the full rundown of sneak peeks. Click the picture in the article and it links to a forum with more pictures. Obviously you would not use it over your official ones but the official combo of wii mote & nun chuck is expensive and if your looking for a third and fourth wii mote and nun chuck this could save you some cash. Thats of course if this is real.
Nintenchris Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 IMO the only improvement that can be made is the quality of the speaker and If they look like that... i think i shall stick to the offical ones.
Jasper Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Are they allowed to make a straight copy of the original controller shape? They always have to tweak, but this is a little to much. I'm sure they could have made something like the 'Sony copies it'-mock up a few months ago, with a sony-typed Wii controller. Ah well, these things are best to be bought official. Except if they make them nice and with built-in batteries. Do that, Madcatz.
Zell Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I knew this was coming. It may look a bit shat... But! It will be cheaper, a lot cheaper than the £45 official controller. Me is guessing about £30 for both nunchuk and remote, so if it still functions as well, people will buy it.
motion Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Quite possibly the fugliest third party controller EVER.
Ashley Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Is it because of conversations I had earlier in the night, or is that a bit naughty shaped?
Cube Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Is it because of conversations I had earlier in the night, or is that a bit naughty shaped? Yea, it looks like it was designed to be used by females...
Sparko Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Is it because of conversations I had earlier in the night, or is that a bit naughty shaped? Haha thank god someone else mentioned it, I thought I was just being perverted
Hellfire Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 They're very pretty. Sort of. Well, maybe not.
solitanze Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Hopefully the speaker is of better quality then with the official Wii Remotes which is terrible.
Zechs Merquise Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I've never trusted 3rd party controllers, not even for the SNES. So with the Wii-mote I certainly wouldn't be trusting anything but the official one.
DanielTimothy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Ribbed for the ladies pleasure. Third party controllers are a joke, although £45 is steap for official one.
flameboy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 well looking at that pic I won't be getting one, havn't had a third party one for ages...just usually crap think I'll leave it that way.
DCK Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 That's looking to have an ace rumble feature... Seriously though, why does every third party design their pads to look like shit?
flameboy Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Seriously though, why does every third party design their pads to look like shit? I'm guessing they firstly want to try and create something that looks unique and different amongest everything else. which this dildo inspired mad catz version certainly will. also guessing maybe they have to differentiate them from the official ones enough so that people won't mistake them, also I'm guessing the exact design principles etc... are copyrighted by Nintendo so they have to be wary of making it look to similar.
Jasper Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Can the spaker actually be improved? Aren't the games made to fit the official speaker? So I don't know, but will the sound improve from the speakers? I didn't have trouble with the speakers untill Twilight princess rambled ou the 'puzzle complete'-sound. As long as the sounds are short, you don't really notice. like in Wii Tennis. Yes, it looks naughty like Saddam in his younger years, before he died. It looks like you can kill someone with this thing, jsut by vibrating their mouth. And into their throat, that is.
Emasher Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 IMO the only improvement that can be made is the quality of the speaker and If they look like that... i think i shall stick to the offical ones. i agree you would never catch me playing any wii game with one of those i've had horrible experiences with mad catz software also and i don't agree with the nintendo speackers being bad
EchoDesiato Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 It looks good, if you're a fan of vibrators.
