Dante Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Media group IDG (GamePro magazine, Macworld) has officially named its major L.A. Convention Center-based consumer gaming event the Entertainment for All Expo (or “E for All” Expo); $100 attendance fee confirmed. The event is headed up by former E3 organizer Mary Dolaher, who now works for IDG World Expo as executive VP. She says that the event will be beneficial to both consumers and participating game companies. “For companies that produce and develop games, interactive toys, and all things related, our goal is that 'E for All' will foster promotional and relationship-building opportunities that only face-to-face contact can create,” says Dolaher. As a consumer-focused expo, E for All will be open to the public at a fee of $100 per ticket for full three-day access to the various events held at the expo, Dolaher confirmed to Next-Gen. IDG World Expo organizes a variety of conferences and events, including Macworld Conference & Expo and LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. Originally revealed as the “GamePro Expo,” event organizers at IDG World Expo decided to hold a public contest to name the show. IDG chose “E for All Expo” out of over 3,000 suggestions taken during a contest at consumer gaming site GamePro.com. Dante Padre of California, who submitted the winning name, says the title reflects the open-to-all nature of the event. Dolaher said that a couple of the losing entries included "Verge" and "Verge X," but E for All was the unanimous winner. E for All will be held at the L.A.C.C. October 18-20, 2007, just as the holiday gift-buying season ramps up. Attendees will be able to buy exhibitors’ products from the show floor. Dolaher wasn't yet ready to announce exactly which companies are participating as contracts are being worked out. Other highlights at the event will include hands-on opportunities to try out the latest games and gadgets, videogame tourneys, a job fair and “family-friendly offerings.” Video Games Live, a live performance of videogame music, will also be part of E for All. Dolaher said that other events held during the expo will be announced in the future. E for All is endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association. www.next-gen.biz
Kav Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I love you Dante! Haha, open to the public for $100... could well be worth it! Looking forward to seeing how it's set out!
Jasper Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 wasn't this supposed to be announced two months ago? I thought the date for the name was 21st of november. Ah well, nothing missed there - the anmeis crap. How are we supposed to short that down? EFA? EforA? EA?
Shorty Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hmm, weird name. Sounds stupid when you put it in a sentence, "Yay, can't wait for E for All to start!" but hey, a name's a name - lets hope it's as good
dabookerman Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 E for All - TEAM BATTLE! - E for All - TEAM BATTLE! - E for All - TEAM BATTLE!
The Peeps Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 It's kind of a good name... If it wasn't so pathetically lame... E3 sounded much better imo.
mariosmentor Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Call it E's for all then i'll be interested.
fanman Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hopefully this will turn out to be like the wii name, when I first heard it, oh wait, I still think that sounds shit too.
Shyguy Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 well at least theres still going to be an expo of some sort, still miss E3 though but the timing is perfect, amazing oppertunity to advertise for christmas
Ren of Heavens Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 This has nothing to do with former E3. This is the new E3: October 13, 2006 - The new E3 Media and Business Summit will be held July 11-13, 2007, in Santa Monica, California, and will combine the best elements of the former trade show into a business event celebrating the video game industry's present and future, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced today. The centerpiece of the invitation-only, three-day event will be the opportunity for both ESA members and non-members to stage major press events, and to have intimate meetings in premier hotel suites and meeting rooms with media, retailers, developer partners, and other audiences.
Guest Stefkov Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 At least it appeals to the drug addicts.... That made me laugh out loud. Couldnt they have names it E4A or something other than E for All. Or E2, Electronics for Everyone. I dont like the name.
Eddage Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Sounds like crap, oh well as long as the actual show is good!
Domstercool Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I was going to say that it can't be the same E3. E3 was changed because it was supposedly getting too big, surely opening to the public would just make it even bigger?
mcj metroid Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 e for all.........Ugh.... no futher comment
fanman Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 and E has now lost significance for all. Heh, that was pretty funny actually.
AshMat Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I'm jsut gonna keep calling it E3, E for all is retarded.
solitanze Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 No more girls, the dropping of 3, what next, Nokia Ngage will have 100 games playable and announce that they have sold one hundred million units to date?
Eddage Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 No more girls, the dropping of 3, what next, Nokia Ngage will have 100 games playable and announce that they have sold one hundred million units to date? I think your getting Nokia confused with Sony, as far as I'm aware Nokia don't make up their own sales figures!
