I have a SMC 2804WBR router. I had trouble getting the Wii online with WEP encription, since I use that to play DS online. Fiddled with it, removed the security for a brief moment and Wii got connected. After updating firmwares, I locked the network again. Eventually I set it to WPA encription. Wii connected instantly. Shame about my DS though. Any ideas how to get both the Wii and DS online? Dont really wanna fork out for the USB connector.

I definitely think Playing = Believing is working. Heck, Seeing = Believing if enough to get people want a Wii. Yesterday a female friend asked me what a Wii was, after she saw my nickname in MSN. I told her a bit about it. "Sound like fun" I show her one of wii.com's videos and she replies "I want one too!" Wow, that's a quick sale for Nintendo. If I would get 1 euro for convincing someone to buy a Wii, I would have made quite a nice buck already. Hahaha. Now if Nintendo can finally feed the Wii-hungry folks all around the world by the end of 2006, then everybody can have a Merry Christmas :P

I believe Famitsu gave it a 32/40 review. Elebits has dramatically risen on my most-wanted list. The level editor and wiiconnect24 makes it even better.

I prefer paying than downloading them, though i dont really have a problem with it. I wouldnt have discovered a gem called Advance Wars if it wasnt for a simple ROM i downloaded. The game got me so hooked after the initial 30 mins, I went straight to buy that game! Im mostly looking forward to titles I never got to play or cant play them anymore, so Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Zelda etc. wont be getting my money. Not initially at least.

This game is coming along very nicely. I never got to try Killer7, still need to hunt that game down. Initially I thought it would a big shallow to just slice up your opponents, but it seems like it's got much more meat around it. He's hoping for a massive game. The graphical style has already got my attention. Im starting to notice Grasshopper and Suda51 more and more. Their games are always so different (Killer7, Contact). We should applaud that!

If Nintendo really manage to deliver 4 million units worldwide by the end of this year, you can count on all of them being sold. The Wii is an incredibly hot item, it's really doing a great job. If true, Wii will have sold half of what the 360 has done in a year. If Nintendo can keep the momentum well in the next year, they really have a winner in their hands. They need a steady stream of quality software to do that. They've pretty much got enough titles lined-up in Japan. I'm not so sure about the Western markets though.

I hate that the VC service is region locked. That's even worse than the regular thing being region locked. What's the point in differentiating the VC titles by region. The whole concept is that people can buy titles they used to play or never got to play. What better way to make money than having a worldwide audience? I want to play the old Famicom Wars and Fire Emblem titles, as well other Japan-only exclusive titles as Sin & Punishment, Parodius 2 + 3 and some quality JRPGS. I dont mind them being not-translated. Let me decide to buy it or not, rather than Nintendo making the decision for me. It's not like it cost a lot to have it for sale. Other game I'd like to see are Contra 3, Street Fighter II Turbo or SSFII, Castlevania: Bloodlines (Mega Drive), Castlevania: Rondo of Blood / Dracula X (PC-E/TG16), lots and lots of classic shooters. Im not that much interested in the N64 games, as i've bought most of the popular ones. Im longing for some classic SNES action as well as MD and TG16 games. Two consoles I never got to own. Here's hoping someone finds away around the region locked VC channel!

I never expected out of those huge amounts of announced Ubi titles to be any good. I mean, in such a short time developing so many high-profile titles like Far Cry, Splinter Cell? I didn't had much hope for Monster Truck, GT Pro, Blazing Angels to start with. All my eyes were on Red Steel and Rayman anyway, the titles made from scratch. Shame Red Steel doesn't seem to live up to the hype, though i still wanna try. Im happily awaiting the next batch of Ubi titles. Till then, I've got enough games to keep me occupied.
-
Read the Hands-on on IGN too. I'm relieved to hear the controls are shaping up very nicely. Out of the try FPS launch window games, this one sounds best controls-wise. I wanna get all 3 of them. Red Steel because I'm liking the overall style, hopefully i can get to grips with the controls. COD3 because I had so much fun with Big Red One. And Far Cry because of the seemingly perfect controls. I'll start with Red Steel first I guess. Then the controls can only get better, haha

30 games is an awesome amount of support from Bandai-Namco. It sure is a great sign of things to come, but we shouldn't cheer just yet. Out of those 30 titles, it remains to be seen how many will be high-profile titles. I bet at least half of those will be throw-away little mini-games type of titles. Take a look at Ennichi no Tatsujin, a collection of Japanese carnival games. Not saying that's a bad thing, but we'll have to wait and see how many Tales of, Soul Caliburs etc comes out of it. Until then, enjoy the support

Ha, Zechs, I had Die Hard Vendetta too and traded it in very quickly as well. I wanted to like that game, but i just couldn't. As for MGS:TTS, it was an enjoyable game. But somehow it felt kinda shallow. Maybe too much cinema, not enough on gameplay elements? Anyway, on topic. The support from Konami is still on the flimsy side. I bet they've got more titles in the work. Gimme a huge 2D Castlevania and Im a happy guy! Hopefully they'll announce more titles soon. Till then, Elebits will need to hold our attention. Which I think will be a very fun little game.

Comparing Monkey Ball on the Cube and Monkey Ball on the Wii is kinda pointless. The graphical style is kept simple on purpose, they could have gone for RE4 style realism, but.. that just wouldn't fit. Same actually goes for Mario. I think it's fairer to compare graphics-heavy games next to each other. That said, I believe we'll be seeing some awesome looking games for the Wii after the initial launch. Just look at Red Steel, that game is coming along very nicely, because it's made from scratch. If the developers take the time, they can churn out graphics that both the Cube and Xbox couldnt do. And since many games will be tailor-made for the Wii, we can bet we'll be seeing some high production value titles. I do care about graphics, but I care about the gameplay and fun-factor much more. Never ever forget that people.

Great thread. I think the VC is a great idea, but I have my reservations. I mean, what's the point if the games are region-locked? My hope was to play exactly those titles that were never released in Europe. But now we still get the same old s***. The idea of a virtual console is that the publisher doesn't have much cost to distrubute some classic games and reach a new, worldwide audience. Now they're releasing the same games to the same people... Hopefully they'll change that, or they'll still port some foreign classics for Europe!
-
Not overly impressed either. But then again, in motion they look far better. As long as they work the controls out Im fine with it. I had decent fun with Big Red One on the Cube. Btw, I believe I read at IGN that the game wont have multiplayer. Maybe for the next version?
-
I think the price is fair enough. You get everything you need to get started. Basically you can purchase a Wii, get home, hook up everything and you're off to go. Sure Wii Sports works better in multiplayer but at least you can HAVE to spend more money to play, unlike many other consoles out there. That said, I was slightly disappointed it would cost 249 euro, because they've always said it wouldn't cost more than 250 euro, people were expecting a price of 200 - 229. I'd rather they've had said it would be 249 in the first place, so i wouldnt be expecting a more mass-market price. I guess Nintendo could have either chosen to release the console + controller for 200 and have people buy a separate game or make a bundle where no extra purchase is needed for 249. So yeah, I'm fine with it. The prices for the controllers are actually pricier when you think about it. The remote is 40, but i see the nunchuk + remote as the complete set, so that makes it 60 euro for a new controller... Ouch, that's a new game already. I believe they're gonna pack in Wii Play with the separate controller. I really hope they do, cause getting more mini-games means i can spread the fun and feels less expensive.

I was afraid this would be just some quick cash-in spin-off title in the vein of RE: Outbreak. Though I haven't played any of those games before, I just loved RE4. Definitely one of my fave games on the Cube. If we get RE4 mechnics, enhanced with Wiimote controls and a lengthy game and all in! Revisiting the mansion again is no problem with me, as I think it'll be a different experience. Hearing we have to conserve ammo again is somewhat of a downer, the action in RE4 was awesome. On the plus side though, it's getting scary and thrilling again

I have faith in Nintendo that they won't be delaying in Europe. There's also no need for them to do it. Sony had problems with theire Blu-Ray hardware, Nintendo is still on track to deliver 4 million units. That should be enough for a worldwide release with a decent amount of units across the continents. I'm betting November 24 as our launch day. Think about it, the Americas gets them in Week 46 (November 19), Japan gets them in Week 48 (December 2nd), Europe would perfectly fit in between. I think Australia gets them a week after Japan though. Nintendo can't and won't let us down! Just because some silly retailer puts up a new banner, who ironically mixed up a Wii for PS3 in the first place, doesn't mean they know stuff in advance. Only one more hour to go!

You know, I kinda wonder how many of those Ubisoft titles will be any good. Rayman and Red Steel seem to be heading in the right direction. Then we've got some "ports" in Monster Trucks 4x4, Blazing Angels, Splinter Cell, Far Cry, GT Pro, Open Season. I just hope all titles are good products and not rushed ones... Btw, isn't MTO also the developer of the GT Advance games on the GBA? They seemed to be fairly well received by the gaming press. Hopefully GT Pro is gonna be a decent racer. Oh and i wouldnt mind seeing a new lick of paint on the graphics as it doesnt seem like it's something that's not possible on the Cube right now.

You know, this game is starting to grow on me. When it was announced, I wasn't that enthousiastic. It seemed like a bad executed cross between Pikmin and Chibi-robo. But this game was just hilarious! Throwing houses around, awesome! It makes me wanna play and buy this game! Can't wait

Nope, you're not the only one. I kinda like. Sure, it's weird, but it's universal, it's original. No matter how cool Revolution sounded, it's just so overused in so many products already. The names is too long anyway. So back to Wii. It really looks weird, but's it's kinda catchy, sounds hip. You can do great things with this. It could be marketed very well. Who knows, it could be the next iPod or Walkman. People, have faith in Nintendo. They're heading into the right direction. Instead of sounding "kiddy" en toy-like, they're becoming more hip and trendy. Take a look yourself: NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Famicom (Family Computer) SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) Super Famicom (Super Family Computer) Nintendo 64 (used to be Ultra 64) GameCube / Game Boy -> "Game" sounds for kids and teenagers to adults Don't forget GameCube used to be StarCube... Virtual Boy -> Still had "boy" in it. Nintendo DS -> Sounds neutral, yet has a concept behind it. Uses "Nintendo" to market it. And now we've got Nintendo Wii. Sounds kinda cool to be, though I gotta admit, it's still got to grow on me. So do you guys. In the end, it's all about the games! Not the image (though it sure helps to sell it)

Even though I like the name Nintendo RS and makes a link to the Nintendo DS, it just sounds too much like Nintendo Arse, like someone stated previously. I don't see them keeping the name Revolution either. Do you realize how many products, services or trademarks has something called "Revolution" in it? It's too cliché and overused for such an innovative product. My bet is it'll be something universal, mainstream, that doesn't have a direct link to gaming and yet it does. Something along the lines like Nintendo Go, but then something else. Um, yeah, I'm being vague huh?

I liked Jim Merrick. He was cool, always very open and did a decent job i believe. I'd be a shame to see him leave. I hope he's not involved with leaking the Zelda TP secrets...
-
as cool as this feature is and sounds, I highly doubt it's anything new and exclusive the competition doesnt have. Remember, Nintendo said the Cube controller still had a secret back when it was shown for the first time. The secret turned out to be that both shoulder buttons could be "clicked". A nice, if rarely used addition to the controller, but not something that blew people away. I expect something along the lines for the Revolution controller. Dont get yourself hyped up people!

Yeah I know CoD2 is different than CoD2: Big Red One. Gotta say, I do my gaming on consoles only and I haven't gotten my hands on any WWII FPS's yet. So basically I'm a piece of blank paper ready for some action :P So better than any of those Medal of Honour console games? BTW, I really should get TimeSplitters 3, since I loved the TS2 and it's so damn cheap right now. But right now I want a little more realism...

Hey all, Lately, I'm in the mood for shooters. I've got my eye on Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. I've checked Gamerankings.com and it's got an average of 79,8%. Good but not great. I know the Cube version doesnt have a multiplayer mode, but I'm not too worried about that. I want a decent FPS that's fun to play. Shooting and sniping enemies. Kinda like brainless action :P Tight control is a must for me. Has anyone got this game? Do you recommend me, should I wait till it's cheaper or should I look for alternatives? Thanks
