I just got this game in today. As expected, this game is lots of fun! It's not hard to wave through the tracks, but getting the coveted S-ranks take a few more efforts. Besides, it's just fun to play the tracks again, racking up high scores as well as a good time.

Im not expecting any announcements at the E for All expo. Remember, that expo isn't due in October, right before the holiday season kicks in. So it'll be about games we already know they were coming. Nintendo said previously that they will still have their press conference at E3 as usual, I believe Sony and Microsoft do too. It's just that all those expensive stands are gone. Anyway, we'll see what comes from it.

Both games should still be coming. Remember, they're Nintendo (published) games. So they're ready whenever they're ready. Usually they announce it with a large batch of media (trailer, screens, hands-on etc), then they go off radar again until they're nearing completion. Some time ago, there was this single screenshot of Disaster, it didn't look too interesting tbh. The theme is what interest us most. Hopefully its gameplay will be compelling and appealing. As for Project Hammer, it's in the hands of NST i believe (Wave Race: Blue Storm, Ridge Racer 64 and some other games). They're pretty decent. Has mostly done conversions and sequels, so this should be their first real effort. The game looked fairly complete already. I guess they've been giving time to expand and diversify on the gameplay. Both games are original 'hardcore gamer' type games, which the Wii needs to compensate the ports, mini-games and non-gamers titles. I expect this E3 (in July) will be the time they resurface again, along with other (new) titles.

I played the game even more. It's definitely racking some hours on the Wii now. The game itself is definitely a fun game, especially for DBZ fans. Also, I finally gave it a try with the classic controller. I noticed a few things: - The controls are good, combos and specials are way easier to execute. - It made me learn the game mechanics better, which resulted in better controls in with the nunchuk setup. - doing the specials feel less immersive and less satisfying than nunchuk-style. Nunchuk is definitely more fun, but sometimes it doesnt pick up my motions as well as i want (like dashing). Also, I noticed it's better to move slowly to perform a special instead of a quick motion, works 10 out of 10 times now. So yeah, Im still undecided which ones better. I like 'm both. Usually I switch every now and then.

I'm both intrigued and somewhat disappointed by the news of UC. On one hand, i want a RE4 style full-blown adventure, on the other hand, I really like light-gun style gameplay. I'm fine with the latter if only there's a lot of depth and length to it. I can imagine you can only move forward and backward (flick the nunchuk to do a 180 for example), when zombies come too close you can flick the wiimote to do a kick or knife slash etc. It's not necessary to have a free-roaming style game, just give us more to do than just shooting, shooting and more shooting. A mercenaries type of side game would be awesome. I spent lots of time playing that when i finished RE4. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this one. I'll give it the benefit on the doubt.

I didnt like the idea of a Wiimake of RE4 at first. I mean, it's a GC-game-turned-PS2-game-turned-Wii-game. The original RE4 was released fairly late in the GC's life, Capcom didn't play the game well, since they announced the PS2 version pretty close to the GC release. I figure many PS2 owners skipped the GC version. It's still one of the best games out there and if it's at a budget price, I might wanna replay the whole game again with the added content. As long as they don't disappoint us with UC, I'm fine with this brilliant 'filler' title.
-
The scans look pretty good. If those are real-time object it sure is impressive. Im not quite sure what to think of this game. It definitely sound like a gun survivor game, but with a lot more depth to it. It's not quite like RE4 either. Im open for anything, as long as its about as fun and long as RE4.

I got this game this weekend for a fairly cheap price (45 euro instead of 60), sit it was worth it. First impressions were kinda... 'mehh...'. As a fighter it's definitely a league below the Tekkens, Soul Caliburs etc out there. Basically, every fighter has the same moves and combos. They just differ from the specials, speed and other small attributes. The controls definitely take some getting used to too. Some times i wanna dash forward (you flick the nunchuck forward) it doesnt do anything. All said and done though, I find the game extremely fun. Pulling off all those special moves right after a succesful combo is sooooo satisfying. That's what it's all about, having fun with it. A must-buy for the fans, worth a look if you're after fun game.

I've yet to buy ExciteTruck, can't wait for it. I agree we've got quite a diverse racing line-up on Nintendo consoles, but we definitely lack one in the realistic driving genre. I dont necessarily need a GT-like game, but one with realistic environments and cars would be lovely. I would even settle for a Ridge Racer-type game

Brilliant if true. The 512 MB is really limiting. I've downloaded all the channels and 7 VC games already. I think I'm at 40% used space of the internal memory. At the rate I buy VC games, I'll be full by the end of this year. An HD would make the rumored Saturn games a possibility, the Neo Geo games a better fit and the possibility of a DS/Wii Demo Channel even more likely. It makes a lot of sense. But then again, Nintendo's logic is hard to follow... We'll likely hear more of this around E3 (July) time if there's any truth in this.

Hm, sounds good if true. There was a post on Gonintendo mentioning EA's NDA. Things they couldn't talk about, but apparently already broken by someone. I thought their 'secret' was the Spielberg Wii game. The Western FPS sounds cool, feels fresh at least. No futuristic or WWII FPS anymore. If there's no Friend Codes for games rated T or higher, that's a positive sign. Kinda makes sense too. The whole FC system was meant to protect the children. T-rated games are not meant to be played by kids, so they would technically avoid any issues of people taking advantage of them. It would be confusing though. Some games requires them, other dont... Anyway, we'd better wait till we here more about it. There should be an announcement soon I suppose.

Hm, I don't really feel like to post a reply to your posts, but now I just have to. I believe the Z-axis is meant to be moving forward and backwards, instead of up and down or left and right. And this is just a regular discussion, talking facts. So I wouldn't call him a fanboy. I'm not sure at what time you joined gaming, but as far as I could tell, Sony released the PS1 and its controller in 1994 (JPN) and 1995 (USA/EU). The first iteration of their controller was based on the SNES controller with added prongs and extra shoulders buttons. When Nintendo introduced their N64 and its controller, it had the analog stick and an expansion port, which was later used in games like Lylat Wars/Starfox 64. Nintendo didn't invent that, but they used the existing technology and popularized 3D gaming using 3D control and force feedback. Sony soon followed with a Dual Analog and later a DualShock controller, the latter had the rumble. So yeah, Nintendo brought the ideas to the table, it was accepted by the market, their competitors followed. More or less that's what happened with other features such as the D-pad, SNES-diamond button layout (though admittedly, nothing earthshattering), shoulder buttons etc. It's for this attitude towards improving controls and bringing new things to the industry that they're credited for. And rightly so. That's not to say Sony or Sega hasn't done their fair share of other stuff, like Eyetoy, Samba di Amigo controllers etc. Oh and one final thing, to me, "milking a franchise" is releasing the same game under a new name without too many changes, be it artwork, levels, characters etc. There's a difference to branding a game with a certain IP and releasing a half-baked sequel. The Paper Mario titles are totally different to the 3D Mario titles out there. Nintendo has done their share of milking in the Pokemon titles (Red/Blue+Yellow, Gold/Silver+Crystal etc) and Mario Party games, which both aren't in-house titles btw. Um, so yeah, kinda long post. Not trying to attack anyone or trying to force a different opinion on someone else. Just trying to get the facts straight. Edit: Oh, should I made a mistake, feel free to correct me

I wonder if we really wont get any worthwhile info at GDC this week. The rumor about Nintendo wanting to buy back 1.4% stock, thus not being allowed to make new announcements. If true, it really is such a bad timing. They've got Miyamoto there, easily the biggest keynote at GDC. They've also got Eiji Aonuma and Koji Kondo at the condeference, not to mention other developers giving Nintendo-centric keynotes (Suda 51/No More Heroes, the Ouendan/EBA developers, EA/Maxis' MySims session). If nothing special is mentioned, I really wonder if Nintendo couldn't plan the stock buying thing take place or before the GDC, assuming they can. This IS the biggest opportunity for Sony to make a comeback though. They need to gain momentum again and quite frankly, I think they will... Only a few more days to go!

Im gonna get Streets of Rage right about now! Can't wait Have to buy more points though....

Blazing Angels- Rumoured to have online multiplayer
IMJ replied to flameboy's topic in Nintendo Gaming
As much as I want this game to be online, even though im not interested, I don't think it will. This game will be on the shelves in a few weeks? But Nintendo just shipped the online dev kits, didnt they? It's mostly likely a mixup with the PS3 version. I wouldnt expect any online games till Summer at the earliest. -
Um, yeah. The screenshots look really shitty huh, dont they? The Godfather never impressed visually, but I've seen better ones. Btw, you really need to look up the PS3 versions as well, cos that doesnt look much better than what we have. To put it simply, it's just a PS2/XBOX game coverted to Wii and PS3 (360 also had a version, I believe?). I dont think we should expect the developer to rebuild the whole game from scratch, just updating some textures and maybe some models, adding some better lighting perhaps. But that's basically it. The Wii is capable of a lot. It just remains to be seen who will be the first to churn out its juices the quickest. Remember, RE4 and Zelda TP (GC) has been in development for years to look that good (and BE that good).
-
I haven't bought this one yet, but I'm seriously considering this one. From the very first videos I saw, I was interested. I like the light-hearted style. Can't wait to get my hands on it. But which one to get first? ExciteTruck or Kororinpa? I'm still playing Zelda, so I really shouldn't rush. But the March games are upon us.. Too much to play :|
-
You know, talking about the best graphics on Wii, actually, I think Wii Sports looks really good. Yes, it looks over-simplistic, but that's just the art direction. Technically, there's some good stuff in there. The distant blurring, hi-res textures (go compare them to Zelda: TP), the trees. Nothing mind-blowing, but it does look great Anyway, I just love the 'new' Nintendo. Ever since Iwata has been leading the company, they've changed so much. You can he's coming from the development side of the business, whereas the competitors are just... you know, people hired to do jobs. I'm curious what the next few years brings us!
-
If Nintendo is full of lies, then what should we call Sony? I'm not saying Nintendo hasn't done their fair share of broken promises (DVD-enabled Wii at launch comes to mind), but nowadays, they're a much better, public-minded company. Full of lies? No, definitely not. Not as good as we expected? Perhaps. Part of your disappointment comes from the hype machine called internet. How many 'insiders' reports have we seen of that the Wii would get dual core processors, had some secrets up it sleeve that would allow super powerful chips in such a tiny case. All wishful thinking. The other part comes from the secrecy and vagueness of Nintendo executives. Like, Iwata stated at E306 (or was it 05?) that "you will say 'WOW!' when you see the graphics". Um, no we didn't. The first in-game trailers were kinda underwhelming TBH. I did say WOW when I first experienced Wii Sports, but definitely not the graphics. So all said and done, I think what we've seen so far, there is still no one game that represents true potential of the Wii. Come Metroid Prime 3, then we'll see what developers can churn out if they take some time.

Matt Casamassina:- Wii Aint Seen Nothing Yet!
IMJ replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow, some really harsh comments here. Cool off people. He's just giving us some hints of potentially great things to come. Sure, it's vague, but what else could he tell without costing his job? I for one, like to hear some vague hints of potentially some great games to come rather than nothing at all. Just don't go hype yourself up, just wait and see. @Tellyn888 As far as I could tell, Sega mentioned they've got a secret title in the works. Never did it mention for which platform, so I wouldn't bet on a Wii title just yet. As for the Tales games, the rumor originated from Jeux-France. All we've seen was some PS2 Tales game, Tales of Fandom Vol.2. Yeah, weird title indeed. It remains to be seen if anything new will be announced for Wii or DS at all. -
A bit too dark in places, couldnt see what was happening. Though i gotta say, the lighting looks good. The parachute jumping sounds good to me, being able to change your starting location slightly. I've got my eyes on this one
-
I had my eyes on this game from the very beginning, gotta love the boxart :P In Holland this game is selling for the same price as ExciteTruck, 45 euro. That's a great deal to me. Getting 'm both
-
Yeah, read the news on GoNintendo. It's on Take2's site as well. Never played or cared about Manhunt a few years ago. To me, that game looks like beat the crap out of the people just for fun. It IS afterall a 'sport' in that virtual world. There's supposed to be some stealth involved as you try sneak out or avoid being found. That part sounds pretty good. It even has that sick Saw-feel to it. I'll wait for more info and the media to see how it shapes up, but this is pretty huge news. Reggie did saw awesome lobbying there! This title is more likely a test case. If it sells well, a GTA or other high-profile title will make its way to the Wii. If it bombs, that's probably the last thing you'll ever see of Rockstar. It all depends on how they market it. I'm pretty sure the Wii version will make headlines in the tabloids...
-
Thanks for explaining to me! Normal mapping sounds so... how to put it? Easy to do :P Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed if this game is all Konami is going to announce. The game itself looks promising. Kinda makes me think of Monkey Ball and Kororinpa but with more depth in it. Seeing this comes from the Elebits team, it should be great fun. Hopefully Konami got more announcements coming, cos if this is all they got lined up for 2007, that's really a lack up support. Sure, expecting something major like Castlevania or MGS is kinda wishful thinking. I just hope there's more coming. Talking about Castlevania, anyone seen the Dracula X Chronicles game yet? It's for PSP, which is a 3D remake of the PC-Engine game Rondo of Blood. The last true traditional 2D Castlevania game. It also includes the original sprite-based game along with an enhanced version of SotN o_O The first trailer doesn't look too hot though, but damn, would I have loved this on Wii or DS. And didn't IGA said that his team didn't want a polygonal PSP game, since it wouldn't have the detail of sprites? Maybe some other team did this game? Oh, sorry for being off-topic...

Fusion is definitely an awesome game. Compared to other classic Nintendo franchise, I'm quite late to the game. Never played Metroid on the NES and played a little bit on Metroid II for GB when I was a kid. I was to impatient to really enjoy the game back then. I missed on Super Metroid too, though I knew that was a great game. So basically I've really only started with Prime. Fusion, though short, is really enjoyable. And to complete the game at 100% isn't an easy task. Some of those 'puzzles' were really ingenious. I was surprised by the amount of moves and abilities Samus could earn. The 'shine charge' move wasn't even mentioned in the game or manual! It's not a requirement to reach the end of the game though. I like those 'hidden' things. So basically, I'm catching up on the Metroid franchise now. Zero Mission, along with the unlockable NES Metroid, and Prime 2 are next on my list.
