Have never played BvsDD, one of the few Rare games I've yet to play Nice update!
-
I bet it was working fine on an earlier version of Proton, but is now broken on the current version. Even more reason for me to wait until the game is fully patched up and actually finished before playing.
-
Yeah… I think I’ll wait until the dust has settled. Game is clearly coming in hot and being pushed out the door before it’s finished cooking. Gives me time to play through AAI 2 and Emio anyway.
-
Looking forward to this one. Have always wanted to play it officially in English!
-
That’s a good problem to have. It’s the sign of a good game

This. Plus the fact that we now have portable PCs like Steam Deck that have stolen the Switch's core USP. I'd say that a new Nintendo console that attempts nothing new or novel is in of itself a huge risk.

My running theory for the past couple of years or so has been a dual screen design using a foldable screen. One large display that can be folded over to make a dual screen display when needed. That way, it can be used as a traditional horizontal 16:9 handheld display, but it can also be used in a vertical orientation like a DS; or even used in Tabletop mode as a front and back dual display (perfect for local splitscreen multiplayer!). With this device, Nintendo would move away from the mechanical rails for the Joycons in favour of electromagnets with QI charging (something previously rumoured, but I came up with the idea first of course ). Of course, it remains to be seen what they would do in TV mode though... Perhaps a screen on the dock itself?
-
Bare in mind that this is a machine translation, so I'd take the exact wording with a grain of salt. But yeah, the rumours are heating up now and are starting to come from more reputable outlets... Once we see the Nikkei throw their hat into the ring, that's when you know for sure that there's true smoke coming from this fire!

Nintendo moved over all of their console manufacturing to Malaysia about 5 years ago, after the big scandal with Foxconn came out. As such, nobody working in a Chinese factory would've caught a glimpse of any units on the production line. Allow me to present a better theory... https://money.udn.com/money/story/5710/8229942 https://www.resetera.com/threads/taiwan-economic-daily-news-switch-2-will-have-a-dual-screen-design-increased-battery-life-some-ai-features-and-400-price-tag.981882/ Now this definitely sounds more like a "Nintendo-esc" console

I’m gonna have to give you a two tiered answer to that question, because it really does depend on just what Switch 2 actually ends up being. I’m sure it’s no secret that I’ve been a bit disillusioned with a lot of Nintendo’s choices this generation; and with how conservative both their hardware and game design in general has been this generation. So a lot of this depends on what kind of successor we’ll be looking at here, because we still know so very little about it. 1: If Switch 2 ends up being essentially what the PS5/Series X was to the PS4/Xbone (a straightforward SSD/GPU/CPU upgrade and little else), then I’d pay a lot less. Probably a max of £350/€400 if it plays original Switch games with improved performance (similar to the competition), but a lot less if it doesn’t (maybe £279.99? And certainly not until much later when there’s a substantial library in place). And if there’s no BC whatsoever? Then I’m done buying any future 3rd party releases on Nintendo consoles, flat out. 2: If Switch 2 is a proper “Nintendo-like” console, with crazy new input & gameplay gimmicks, and a daring & creative games lineup that bucks industry trends? Then there is basically no limit to what I’m willing to pay. If they make it? I will come, day 1, no questions asked.

Pokemon Box got released in two different forms in Europe. First way to get it was via the Pokemon Colosseum Mega Pak, which was a console bundle (Desperate Nintendo did desperate things back way back in the GCN era!) that included a black Gamecube, Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon Box (as a loose disc), a Memory Card 251 and a GBA-GCN Link cable. Actually would've been a really nice bundle if you were in the market for a Gamecube back in mid 2004 The other form was as a standalone release, which was only available via the Nintendo VIP 24/7 service (the precursor to Club Nintendo; crazy to think that the UK was the very first region around the world to get a loyalty reward service from Nintendo!). This version came in an actual box and is worth substantially more on the second-hand market as a result... Pokemon Box Box Standalone PAL copies of Pokemon Box typically go for anywhere between £150-300, depending on condition and how complete they are, while loose discs from the Mega Pak can go between £65-85... That being said though... a complete Pokemon Mega Pak console bundle has been known to go for a whopping £400! So concludes this episode of eBay Watch

All-new PlayStation Plus: Premium / Deluxe | Extra | Essential

Tomb Raider Legend is my favourite Tomb Raider game. It was exactly the shot in the arm that the series needed, finally ditching the clunky grid-based PS1-era platforming in favour of smooth character motion more akin to Super Mario 64. The level design is perhaps not as intricate as the earlier Core Design games, but it's well paced with some fun setpieces that emphasise meaningful platforming and some good variety with driving stages and such. Was the first Tomb Raider game I genuinely enjoyed... and sadly also one of the last; as the series basically fell off a cliff once they turned it into an Uncharted clone (oh the irony!). -

That’s really sad. Penny’s Big Breakaway is a very good game that deserves to have done better… … but this is the video game industry, where quality rarely matches up to actual sales -

So bizzare that Winback of all games ended up being a launch title for the Switch NSO service. Also, this is an Omega Force game? Really!? The variety of games that OF put out prior to hitting it big with Dynasty Warriors 2 (not the first one… which, believe it or not, is actually a traditional 1v1 3D fighting game!) is pretty remarkable. I guess they mirror From Software in that regard; having an eclectic past before finally finding a single winning formula and milking it to absolute death. -
The entire staff of Annapurna Interactive have just resigned
Dcubed replied to Julius's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Damn, that‘s nutso. Awful news, they’ve been a huge bright spot in a darkened industry over the last few years Current most popular speculative theory doing the rounds is that this happened because the CEO wants to push Annapurna Interactive into becoming a AAA publisher; and the staff want to stay indie. Given that AI was mostly made up of former Sony Santa Monica staff who left because they wanted to focus on the same kinds of high-brow indie titles they published back in the late PS3 era (Journey, The Unfinished Swan etc), rather than AAA games? It would make a lot of sense that they’ve just done the same thing again here. If so, good on ‘em; and hopefully they manage to start up as a new independent publisher soon. -

100% scam. At best it'll be a standard emulation box, at worst it'll never come out.

Sorry @Ike, you know the rules. Only I'm allowed to take fail the Mushroom Gorge shortcut!

There's that "Microsoft Gaming" term again... Ominous clouds surrounding the Xbox brand and the team as a whole I reckon... -

Oh @Ike https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/The-Hokkaido-Serial-Murder-Case-The-Okhotsk-Disappearance-Memories-in-Ice-Tearful-Figurine--2616423.html The remake of Yuji Hori's The Hokkaido Serial Murder Case! (The sequel to The Portopia Serial Murder Case) is out on Switch and Steam right now. Bizzarely, it actually isn't coming from Square Enix, but rather from G-Mode! That one's a shocker to me because I would've figured that S-E would own the rights to it, but I guess Yuji Hori's company Armor Project has retained full ownership instead! That also means that, unlike the disastrously awful S-E made/published remake of Portopia (which was ruined by an awful "AI" language parser, because of course it was), this might actually be well worth your time!

Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 - All N64 Games
Dcubed replied to Cube's topic in General Gaming Discussion
Worth noting that the original N64 version of Bangai-O is a very different game to its Dreamcast counterpart; as Treasure elected to heavily redesign the game when porting it to SEGA's final console. It's a great game on Dreamcast, but I've always wanted to get my hands on the N64 version as well... unfortunately it just so happens to have had a very small print run originally; meaning that it's that dreaded combo of genuine rarity + good game + high demand = Get A Second Job! -
Considering that the PS5 Pro's CPU is exactly the same as the base model? It's basically nothing more than a mild GPU upgrade that's gonna get bottlenecked by its old CPU anyway! So it's a similar situation either way. At least if you have a PC you can just upgrade it. If you already own a base model PS5? You have to shell out for the entire thing all over again at near enough double the price (and then you have to spend even more to get a functioning disc drive that plays your existing physical games!). And if you're really in the market for a high-end balls to the wall graphical showpiece experience? I doubt you'll be all that impressed with what the PS5 Pro is offering, as it's basically a Radeon RX 6800 (Or the broad equivilent of the RTX 3700 in NVidia money; though likely with an inferior AI upscaling solution compared to what DLSS offers). It's just not that big an upgrade over the base PS5, and that same £700 could buy you a far more impressive PC GPU if you're really looking to chase the graphics dragon, so I really have to question just who this console is supposed to be targetting here?
-
Finally had a chance to read the official blogpost. Seems like the console specs match the leak perfectly. Very disappointing. A mere 45% extra GPU performance, no CPU upgrade, and no additional RAM for around 180% of the price of a 4 year old console? (Actually +194% of the Digital Edition’s original UK RRP). How is that worth the money!? Starting to wonder why they even bothered. You’re far better off just buying/upgrading a PC at these silly prices.
