Oh boy... This is gonna become a regular thing, isn't it...
-
They're not very long at all. You can blast through each of them in about 2-3 hours a piece if you're good. Short, sweet and very replayable Same! Drives me mental that I can't do that in the GBA version as I do it Every Single Time in the SNES original
-
Oh, hey! Just in case you haven't seen it yet, I'm selling a bunch of stuff in the Trades and Sales forum. Oh and @lostmario, you wanted a 3DO? well! Guess what I happen to have in there...
-
Wahey! On the up and up! Primed to jump 3 places if I can keep up the streak of quality performance too 'Twas a good theme BTW. Very clever! : peace:
-
Oh yeah! I forgot that they added extra Yoshi Coins (and a coin collection tracker) to this version! It's a nice little extra that encourages a bit more exploration Too bad the music still sounds terrible in this version and they've made it substantially easier overall :p (it is fun to use Luigi's crazy floaty jump to break he levels though ) Still, we have both versions on the VC, so everyone wins
-
It IS substantially easier than the original though. They dumbed down the difficulty much moreso than they did with the other SMA games; what with the extra hit you can now take when you're Cape/Fire Mario and Luigi's extra high jump breaking the level design, on top of the levels being made a lot easier in certain places. They're all generally easier than their original NES/SNES counterparts (Yoshi's Island being affected the least in that regard), but SMA2 especially made a lot of changes to lower the difficulty all around (not that SMW was ever an especially hard game, which makes it all the more egregious!) The worst part though is the music, it sounds TERRIBLE in SMA2! The other SMA games had some pretty good renditions of the music all round (and SMA3 is VERY close to the SNES original! One of the best SNES-GBA soundtrack conversions ever done!), but SMW sounds bloody awful on the GBA! Thank God they stepped their game up afterwards! SMA2 is definitely the least essential of the lot, but it IS free of you get the other two right now, so you might as well get all three of them :p (and then get SMA3, since it's the only version of Yoshi's Island available on the VC anyway. The GBA version isn't bad really and the 6 new levels are actually really good! I'd still choose the SNES original over the GBA version, but those 6 extra levels are worth getting SMA3 for alone anyway! )

Just playing the demo now (a bit late I know), it's pretty charming! Lots of nice little touches, like your character taking their shows on and off when going into a house, or being able to press buttons on traffic lights. Graphics are superb as well, MUCH better than X&Y/ORAS and it's just a very polished game overall; I also appreciate the fact that the entire game is playable with just the stylus (Animal Crossing Wild World style!) and it works very well playing it that way The battle system does indeed remind me of Ogre Battle, in that you're more of an overseer than an active participant and I actually quite like that. It's really neat to have a more traditional JRPG where you're more of a grand strategist than a participant! That being said... It doesn't seem like there's much depth to it. It does seem to basically boil down to pre-preparation and properly completing a few microgames scattered throughout the battles. I would hope that more comes into play later on in the game, but the battles do seem very basic... It does seem like a fun little game, even if it's not gonna win any awards for its gameplay depth. I can't imagine much of a competitive scene developing around it, but it seems like a good time all round

Super Mario Advance 2? Not really... Super Mario Advance 1 though? Now that's a different matter! That has some substantial new content over the NES and SNES versions of SMB2; including the Yoshi Challenge mode and an all new boss encounter! Since it's on Buy-2-Get-One-Free offer, you might as well go ahead and get all three before the offer expires

Probably not for a while since it uses the SA1 chip; which isn't currently emulated by any known SNES 3DS VC game. It took almost two years for it to come to Wii and, while I don't think it will take that long, it probably wont be amongst the earliest titles to get released on New3DS...
-
Good night all round, pretty happy with how that all went
-
Very sad news. I love their games and they're very cool people (I met them in person at EGX a few years back). They're probably right though. They just want to make games and not have to play the YouTube/Twitch/Marketing game in order to do so; but they don't stand much of a chance in today's environment sadly You'd think that Nintendo would want to snap them up and give them a chance to continue making games for their platforms without having to worry about all of the stuff surrounding the game making process...
-
Forget what I said earlier about the eReader levels probably not being in... because I was wrong! And I am SO happy about it! NOE didn't screw us over!!! We actually got them! Go buy Super Mario Advance 4 without hesitation!
-
The press release made no mention of the eReader levels and the trailer went out of its way to avoid showing anything from World e whatsoever... Ha ha! I'll try not to stoop to THAT level, but in this case, I'm glad to be a Miiverse dope this time :p Oh don't get me started on DKC 2... You know as well as I do that the US version actually does include multi-language support...
-
YEEESSSSSS!!!! I am SO glad to be made to look stupid in this case! Why the hell didn't they mention it before!? WTF is wrong with them!? How the hell did the eReader levels not got mentioned in the press release OR the trailer!? How does this even happen!? It's THE big selling point of this release! 38 brand spanking new levels!!! There are clearly some incredibly braindead people working at NOE!! Money has been well earned from me here! I finally get to play the JPN only levels!
-
That had better not be sarcastic, I've already gone and made an angry post on Miiverse complaining about the lack of the e-Reader levels in Europe and I want to be made to look stupid here!!!
-
Whelp! Time to avoid anything Zero Escape 3 related until it comes out now... ... too scared of spoilers...
-
They all uglify these re-releases on purpose... It's the Mark of Shame for being cheap
-
I'd be very surprised if we are... It would surely be something they'd shout about if it were happening... This is bollocks! It's not even a technical challenge involved here because World-e IS actually still in the EU version, just locked away. It can actually be accessed very easily with an Action Replay code or even just a corrupted Save File! It's even fully translated into all EU languages! It's just pure apathy and laziness on NOE's part. A huge slap in the face, considering that what they did for the JP and US VC versions was not trivial (unlike unlocking World e for the EU version), because they actually went in and re-programmed the game in order to increase the number of save slots for levels (originally you can only have a maximum of 32 levels stored in a save file at any given time IIRC, but in the VC version, they actually increased that to 38 in order to include all of the levels that have been released - they also disabled the ability to delete levels that have been added). That would not have been easy to do, but they went and did it anyway. But for Europe? Oh no... Flipping a switch and applying the same fix that they've already used for the US and JP versions is just too much effort... It's arguably even more insulting than the first time they fobbed us off with the original cart release; at least then they had an excuse because we never got the e-reader!
-
Going by the trailer that's been released... I wouldn't bet on that... It looks like we're getting diddled out of them a second time around
-
I wish I had time to jump back into making some levels... Sigh
-
SMA4 EU trailer... ... no sign of the eReader levels... SHIBATAAAAAAAA!!!!
-
Why hasn't the thread title been changed yet? It's hilariously outdated now.

There ya go

I'm sure that Redshell will make you look like a boss in this week's highlight video if you take part

Fucking hell, that's sudden! Fable Legends wasn't far from completion either! That's insane!! Why not just let them finish it and get it out of the door first at least!? That's like 3 years of development expense down the toilet, just like that! What the hell are they thinking!? I can't even think of another game/studio that has gone through this! Yeah, sure; games getting cancelled mid development aren't uncommon, but not when the game is close to completion, and certainly not with the entire studio being closed seemingly on a whim! Everyone at all of MS' affiliated studios just got a sudden chill down their collective spines... If I were part of any of the large publishers, I'd be playing vulture right fricking now!
