    Your Year

Yeah! Bring on 2009! Somebody needs to post that Grim Reaper birthday picture.
  2. That was good to watch. TV series like this and Bits are great simply because it's a lot easier to watch something on TV than it is to spend ages searching for information online, browsing through reviews and screenshots for a single game.

    Your Year

This year has been pretty bad due all the stress at work that I've had to go through, but it's had its great moments. I'm really exhausted after everything thats gone on this year and I'm welcoming a fresh start for 2009.. To do list for 2009: - Go to see blur perform live in Hyde Park! I'm going to make it a 2 day spectacular:heh: - Try and go to some warm up gigs around the country - Take up a martial art, although I'm not sure which one yet.. - Take up another language. I'm thinking of taking up Japanese again as I've already studied it for a year and did really well in my exams (96%). Maybe I'll take up Cantonese. - Run a marathon (no training required for this) - Buy another Wii (I know that they're going to announce a black one right after I do) - Read more. My life is very full, but there are so many stories that I want to read.
  4. Im just getting a £15 book for Christmas... I'm spending about £120 on others. Bad deal! I also have to spend Christmas with a teenager who has ADHD and an emo/goth/black haired creature who my mum has invited around for Christmas, despite them not being related to us. Absolutely dreading it...
  5. Strange Tales Of Liaozhai Chungking Express A Chinese Odyssey Lost in Beijing
  6. Seabrooks for the win! They are heavenly.
  7. For which day? I'm going to see them on Friday. It's a shame that they announced the Thursday gig after all the fans snapped up the tickets for the Friday. It should be amazing anyway! I have 3 tickets for Friday, so I might swap one of them for Thursday closer to July. I found out about the blur reunion no more than 10 mins after buying a ticket to see Monkey on 23rd December at the 02. I am in row E in the centre at the front and the ticket cost me £68! They are now offering £15 discounts for blur fans. poop!
  8. Hehehe, I think I've discovered the problem! I tried installing it on our Windows XP computer and it started to install without that error message popping up... I thought about what differed between that OS and this one and it was the Windows Firewall. I've turned off Windows Firewall and its installing fine now! Blimey! Windows Firewall must have been blocking it from the internet and it never informed me about any access attempt. Thanks you two. Thank god! Edit: *cries*
  9. Yeah, I think you're right. That seems to be a file that its trying to copy over but can't. Im thinking that it's either the DVD or the drive.. I might exchange it tomorrow and if it still doesnt work, I guess I'll need to buy a new DVD drive. Hopefully they'll exchange an unsealed game at GAME...
  10. Noooo!!!! I absolutely loved Red Alert 2 and just rushed out to get the limited edition of Red Alert 3... I'm getting this message on install: Does anybody have any idea as to what's going on here? My PC specs are as follows: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit AMD Athlon 3500+ 2.7Ghz 2GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM ATI Radeon 3600 HD The game has just cost me £40...
  11. I work for Barclays Commercial Bank and they've put a cap on their head count. They aren't employing any more people and have too many after employing hundreds in the last 6 months. They seem to be trying as hard as they can to fire people and I was sooo close to getting fired today for no good reason... 3 people in my department have been sent home in the last couple of months for really trivial things like having an arguement or something not quite matching up in their CV, despite them having worked there for ages. I could get fired at any time and its stressing me out! It sounds like Ireland is heading towards a mess. I hate environment taxes because as Mokong said, they don't actually go towards covering the environmental costs of pollution. Politicians couldn't care less and a departure tax sounds funny, doesn't North Korea have that?
  12. I actually found F-Zero X better than GX, largely due to the fact that it had the death race mode. The story mode was ok, but it was far too difficult and that ruined the experience for me. Online F-Zero races and tournaments would be the way to go.
  13. Hmm! Something seems pretty crazy about this. (the fact that its showing up as 1Ghz when it should be 2.1ghz) It just reminded me that a certain AMD processor doesnt show up correctly on peoples PCs.. I wonder whether thats the 6400? "Also windows vista does not recognize this processor, must be too new." http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/processors-retail-box/m/47315057/ Perhaps its showing the wrong information? This is what should be showing up: http://www.techpowerup.com/cpudb/487/AMD_Athlon_X2_4050e.html The multiplier should be 10.5, not 5x. and the voltage is stated as 1.15v
  14. Didn't the UK used to be a giant forest before humans knocked all of the trees down? When you look out of a plane when flying across Europe, this is what you see: Sadly, tiny little national parks will be all that's left of nature one day and I'm sure humans will eventually start to develop those more and more when they become fascinating tourist attractions. They will build a new road here and a new hotel there... The only future for anything non human that we wont directly consume will be there purely for our amusement, like pets. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest forest in the world and it wont be around forever when 20,000km2 is disappearing each year. Humans will totally destroy this planet one day and it's only a matter of when. Whenever I go to Malaysia, I'm really amazed by what I see! All you will see when you are travelling through rural areas from city to city are palm oil plantations. These are the only trees you will see where there was once beautiful forest: They have actually wrecked their whole country and they've done this in a very short time span... Its unbelievable. Those plantations cant support any wildlife. Third of mammals 'face extinction' Monday, 06 Oct 2008 15:35 The populations of half the world's mammals are in decline and more than a third are facing extinction, a new publication has claimed. The International Union of Conservation for Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species published today claims that the biggest threat to mammals is the loss of habitat, including deforestation. This year's list looked at 5,487 mammals and found that 1,141 are currently threatened with extinction. "Within our lifetime hundreds of species could be lost as a result of our own actions, a frightening sign of what is happening to the ecosystems where they live," Julia Marton-Lefèvre, IUCN director general, said "We must now set clear targets for the future to reverse this trend to ensure that our enduring legacy is not to wipe out many of our closest relatives." The IUCN says the situation could be a lot worse, as 836 mammals are listed as "data deficient" and with better information more species could be in danger of extinction. "The reality is that the number of threatened mammals could be as high as 36 per cent," says Jan Schipper, of Conservation International. "This indicates that conservation action backed by research is a clear priority for the future, not only to improve the data so that we can evaluate threats to these poorly known species, but to investigate means to recover threatened species and populations." The results show 188 mammals are in the highest threat category of critically endangered, including the Iberian lynx, which scientist believe has a population of between 84 and 143 adults and has continued to decline due a shortage of its prey, the European rabbit. There are also 29 species named as critically endangered possibly extinct, including Cuba's little earth hutia, which has not been seen in nearly 40 years. http://www.inthenews.co.uk/news/healthandscience/autocodes/autocodes/iraq/third-mammals-face-extinction-$1243733.htm Global warming isnt the biggest problem that the world has to deal with. The earth has cooled and warmed countless times in the past, but it's now being totally wrecked by us in other ways.
  15. Non renewable fuel is going to run out anyway and the faster it does, the sooner we can move over to green renewables like solar and wind power. Harming the enviornment by using up lots of gas and petrol is really not important and economics will manage the problem like its doing now with rising prices due to diminishing supplies.... The same is happening with waste. It's becoming more and more expensive to simply bury our rubbish due to us running out of land and this will push people to recycle more due to economic reasons. People aren't doing this for the environment, but it makes them feel better if they think they are. Humans only care about reducing their carbon footprints because all they care about is themselves. If we actually cared about this world we lived in, we should be far more concerned about the destruction of the world's rainforests or the the land that's needlessly being wasted in this country due to us building outwards instead of upwards with skyscrapers. Imagine how nice and green this country would be if we all lived in super skyscrapers. Look at whats happening now... Affordable homes are being built in cramped housing estates where there arent even any gardens. Trees stand lifeless in new developments with no meaning but to decorate. Global warming really isn't what's going to destroy this world.... Instead of trying to save this world for our grandchildren, the world would be FAR better off if we didnt have any. They are the problem, just like we are. Seriously, who gives a crap about global warming when we are killing off all the life on this planet that we cant eat or make something out of? Well, I'd actually like to see figures to show that recycling any paper based products is good for the environment. Trees absorb huge amounts of carbon to grow and surely using non recycled paper is much better for the environment than using recycled paper because recycling paper only causes more pollution.. We get most of our paper from countries like Finland and their forests are amazing and totally sustainable. Finland is 75% forest and if we recycle paper, it reduces the amount of trees we need to grow and if we dont need to grow as many trees, those trees wouldnt exist because humans only keep things they need. I'm a strong believer that recycling paper is actually helping to destroy the environment.
  16. Thanks Eenuh, it actually caught a mouse while we watched it. The final pic was taken just after it landed on the mouse. This happened on the edge of a cliff by the sea and it was only a few metres away from us. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
  17. :awesome:
  18. Brilliant. I'm waiting for my Chinese HSK certificate... I've already been waiting for 4 months and cant wait anymore.
  19. I used my 1GB of 3 3G allowance in about 1 week using my phone as a modem, oops! I bet videos (streamed films) eat up a lot of bandwidth... I remember the olden days when most ISPs capped their service at a GB a month...seems totally crazy these days. I really dont believe that I used 1GB.... If you are a student, I bet that you'll only be able to get certain things for free through the internet.
  20. You have a wife? I thought you were gay?
  21. This is a pretty good review site and shows you the same scenes taken with different cameras: http://www.cameras.co.uk/html/digital-camera-reviews.cfm They have given the Canon 86/100 and the Panasonic 82/100. No rating for the Samsung though. (79/100 for the NV20) My Fuji Finepix S8000fd was given 82/100. It's glitchy at times with its focus
  22. My mum has a Samsung camera and its awful! I'm more of a Fujifilm person myself, although both Panasonic and Canon produce very good cameras.
  23. 2 London Eye tickets: £27.90 2 single train tickets from London to Padstow: £60.60 £90 on other various tickets 2 tickets for the Eden Project: £30 3 nights in London: £297 3 nights in Padstow, Cornwall: £282 Romantic holiday for 2: Priceless (£787.50 including an Xbox 360..) I've also recently bought this: £147.01 with free postage from Ebuyer and these: £3 from HMV £5 from HMV
  24. That website is a bit confusing.... 2Mb should give you a download speed of 250KB a second right? They have given me a score of 314kbps for my 2Mb connection and thats simply wrong or does kb mean kilobytes instead of kilobits? I get 250KB when I'm downloading something from a website and thats a lot more than 314 kilobits... I've never managed to download at a speed of 314KB a second though. EDIT: I selected a different server and got 1975kbps instead of 314kbps... Have you tried pinging a different one from the one you tried? Ping the London one instead of the Maidenhead one.. The Maidenhead one gave me 314kbps. EDIT: I tried the Maidenhead one for a 2nd time and it gave me 826kbps. That website is totally hopeless...
  25. Rated G for gay.. A super hero wearing a gay pride costume and a transvestite thing... I think parents would rather find their kids playing Manhunt.
