  1. PlayStation 4 Console Discussion

I'm planning on buying a PS4 in the next week or so, but don't know if i should buy the PS4 Pro or the Slim. It will be connected to a 32" or 35" UW monitor (not yet purchased), with resolutions of 2560 x 1440 and 3440 x 1440. With me not having a 4K TV, will a Pro be of any benefit to me over the Slim?
  2. Monster Hunter World (PS4)

I've been keeping an eye on this game for awhile, I want it, but with less than a month until it releases I am still undecided on what to do. I don't own an XB1 or PS4 so the question I'm asking myself is if this game is worth the purchase of a console or should I wait for the still unannounced PC release date? I keep changing my mind every two minutes
  3. Pokémon Sun/Moon

I'm loving this game so far. I'm quite far along but I will be purchasing Sun for a second play through once I've finished Moon. This will be the first time I've bought both games in the series since R/B/Y. I'm wanting to go with a no starter or legendary team for my second play through. Already got a team in mind
  4. I Made a NES PC

First off, let me just say that I purchased a broken NES off of ebay. So no live NES's were harmed in the making of this project. I have had my old PC sat in a cupboard for the best part of a year and thought I'd put the parts to use. I'm no modder, but figured I'd have a go at making something. Settled on making a NES PC, so I searched online and there are a lot of people that have done this kind of thing. So not wanting to do the same thing as other people, I decided to make my build a little different. The following is the only image I took of the almost completed innards: The motherboard is facing down, so that the CPU fan pushes air down and out of the case. I had a spare exhaust fan so I fit it under the case to help blow the hot air away, not sure if this was needed but it wont be hurting anything. Also the NES is raised up 18mm by some pads which I bought. The feature which I added to my build was an NFC reader which is placed just below the cartridge slot. I found a site that was selling new empty NES carts (so no games had to be destroyed to make this build). At the moment I have 2 programmed carts that load OverWatch and a media player. I have 10 carts in total so I will be making more, the two I currently have were made just to test to see if the NFC reader worked. Kind of boring, but here is the innards of the cartridge: Just an NFC tag to load the application. I'm going to add a second on near to the bottom to see if I can make it close the current application (so removing the cartridge will close the loaded program). I plan on making some custom labels this weekend to stick onto the cartridges, going to try and keep them all 8-bit themed. The cartridge cradle is glued to the top of the case, I tried to make it so that I could still press down the cartridge, but there just wasn't enough room inside the case. Something which I was pleasantly surprised by is that if I leave the cartridge inside the console when the PC is turned off, once the PC is turned back on it will launch the program as soon as the PC has booted up. There is a bluetooth usb dongle plugged into the motherboard. When I saw the above two items I just had to buy them to compliment the build I may be revisiting this later. As if i change the layout slightly (by standing the PSU up rather than having it laid down) there is room in the case for a low profile GPU. I considered doing this near the end of the build, but the only half-decent GPU I could find that would fit was a 750ti, which is getting quite old now. Plus I didn't want to spend another £125.
  5. Pokémon Sun/Moon

I'm just completed the second trial. This was my team:
  6. Pokémon Sun/Moon

Been playing for about an hour now, chose Rowlet as my starter (named her Strix). I've been playing pokemon since Red/Blue and I still hold down and B after throwing a pokeball. I know it doesn't do anything, I just cant help myself! Just caught a pichu while typing, named him Machu (as in Machu Picchu...i'll get my coat).
  7. What Have You Bought?

EEVILMURRAY has reminded me of a purchase I made a few months ago, the following cost me £8. 2 Pokemon comics: I'm not really a collector of comics, but these cost £2 for both, so I couldn't really refuse. I Don't know anything about these... A book full of pokemon cards: Never been a collector of them, but again for £6 I couldn't say no. The only reason why I bought these was because I thought they were old, going off the pikachu cards that are in the folder (it looks like red/blue pikachu rather than the anime version). I wont post all the images here as the mods wont thank me for that, however I have uploaded them all to some webspace I have. There are 29 more images that can be found at the following links: http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/3.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/4.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/5.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/6.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/7.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/8.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/9.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/10.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/11.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/12.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/13.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/14.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/15.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/16.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/17.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/18.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/19.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/20.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/21.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/22.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/23.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/24.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/25.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/26.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/27.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/28.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/29.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/30.jpg http://pyxl8.com/Pokemon/31.jpg So, did my $8 investment pay off?
  8. I think it's sad day when games like FIFA and CoD are considered more as 'System Sellers' then games like Zelda and Metroid. But I do believe that Nintendo are at least trying to target the console at the right people this time around. This is based off of the age of people in the switch teaser. I think Nintendo's biggest problem is getting the 'younger generation' of gamers excited over it's first party titles again. Someone who I work with, who is ~10 years younger than me has never heard of games like F-Zero, Earthbound or Metroid. When I try to explain what these games are, and I'll use F-Zero as an example, I'll say "it's like Wipeout", which he knows. For as big as Nintendo are and for as many franchises they own, if it's not one of the 'big 3' (Mario, Zelda, Pokemon), people who have never owned a Nintendo console wont know what they are, and this is something I believe Nintendo need to address.
  9. What was your first Nintendo console?

NES for me :awesome: Had the usual games (Mario's and Zelda's), but me and my brother played the heck out of bubble bobble....and just like that I have the theme tune going round and around in my head, damn you all! Also I can remember Shadowgate scaring me back then, which sounds silly going off of today's standards. I believe that Shadowgate is the only game we (well my brother, as I was too scared to play it) ever bought a strategy guide for. It's funny what memories stick with you. I must have only been 3 or 4 years old when I played these NES games and having not played any of these games since those days, I can still remember a lot about them. I can definitely remember that Skeleton from very early on in Shadowgate, I used to throw the controller to my brother, the thing scared the crap out of me!
  10. Super Mario Switch

Good, I was hoping for no more dual screen nonsense. And on that note, I'm off to play the Pokemon demo on my 3DS
  11. Super Mario Switch

Probably nothing, but has anyone else noticed the red at the top of the docked screen on both images? Solid red on the top image and two bars on the lower image. Maybe some kind of radar? Or is it just a reflection of the curtains?
  12. Maybe the 3DS successor will be the Switch S? Seems to work for Sony and MS :p
  13. Looking at the dock in this image the back appears to be flat and I'm going to assume that the cut out is where the power and video out ports are. Meaning you can lay it flat and have the cords coming out of the side. I don't think this is anything to worry over.
  14. Super Mario Switch

I wonder why he's heading towards that small moon...?
  15. Sony and Microsoft seem to be focusing more on graphical horsepower and becoming more of a media centre for the living room. With the PS4 Pro and Project Scorpio I think this shows that both companies are going down the graphical horsepower route, also with the Vita not doing too great I cant see Sony going back into the portable market for quite some time. I don't think Nintendo need worry about what Sony and MS are going to do. One of the things I do worry about in concern to third party support is the chip architecture in the Switch. MS and Sony have recently switch to x86 chip architectures, which is the same as PC's. If the Switch uses a different architecture I can see this being used as an excuse by developers as to why they arent/wont port games over to the Switch. --------------- OK, now for a bit of fun Nintendo need to launch the Switch on Mar 10 (Mario Day) 2017 Why is 17 in bold you ask? Well, counting only SUPER Mario title's from Nintendo's Home Consoles and DS, there are 16 games*: Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Super Mario World Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island Super Mario 64 Super Mario Sunshine New Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Galaxy New Super Mario Bros. Wii Super Mario Galaxy 2 Super Mario 3D Land New Super Mario Bros. 2 New Super Mario Bros. U Super Mario 3D World So if the Switch launches on Mario day with the 17th Super Mario game, think of the marketing possibilities! So there you have it, I have confirmed the system launch date and that Mario will be a launch title, no need to thank me :awesome: *any proof to the contrary shall be ignored.
