  1. To be honest, it's not really good to keep goldfish in an aquarium, unless your aquarium is huge. They are pond fish and dont do well in small tanks. People think that goldfish are great for small bowls, but in the fish trade, they call them "death bowls". A goldfish will live for up to 40 years if its looked after well and despite popular belief, they are very smart fish and have great memories. Goldfish arent sociable like humans and they dont like the company of other goldfish, especially if theres a lack of space, this is why a lot of people experience their goldfish killing eachother. Your golfish wont like any other fish in its territory. A common goldfish can grow up to 12 inches in length and 1 fish needs around 10 gallons for every inch of its length. A fully grown goldfish will need a 120 gallon tank. Most tropical fish only need 1 gallon to an inch. If the suckermouth catfish you are talking about is a Common Plec, these grow up to 18 inches in length and nobody should buy common plecs, its cruel. People buy them and then eventually return them to the shop that they bought them from after they've grown too big, but dont seem to realise that nobody has a suitable tank for a fully grown pleco. These fish will end up living an incredibly miserable life and will die a very bad death.
  2. I have 7 pencil fish, 5 corys, 2 cherry barbs and a female siamese fighting fish. I'll be redocrating their tank as soon as pay day comes around the corner. I'll be replacing their gravel with sand and Im probably going to go for a few good low light plants. Birtstall are a really great website for aquarium plants: http://www.birstall.co.uk/ranges/99984-1.html
  3. Episode 1 was pretty good, but it leaves a lot to be explained. Let's hope that they can manage it all.
  4. Could somebody pm me with a tip of how to watch this? Ive been waiting a whole year for Season 4! I watched seasons 1, 2 and 3 in a week back in Feb 2007 and have been starved ever since. This is the season where I die! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY3XwA32zP8 I'm killed at the 4 minute mark....
  5. Gosh Jay, I could talk to you all day, because I have a love/hate relationship with ideologies. Just my luck to bump into a philosopher. What would you rather be, a woodcutter or a fisherman?
  6. I'm not miserable, im the happiest i've ever been.:p Who isnt after they've got past those problematic days of being a teenager? I'm in an 8 year relationship with a very beautiful woman and every day is a great one for me! edit: Trying not to contradict!
  7. Sorry if im coming across too strongly Jay. What I am saying is that there is no need to take drugs to feel good, I think its safe to say that's why people take drugs in the first place. To me, drugs have as much worth as a mirage in the desert. Im sure people high on drugs would find staring at a brick wall fascinating, so i'd be very interested to hear about the amazing things that they have come up with while stoned. My favourite musician - Damon Albarn - uses cannabis to help boost his creativeness, but he is really loopy these days and a lot of his songs dont really make any sense! Im sure they make sense to him. I wouldnt put Cannabis into the same catagory as dairy products or chocolate. That's really pushing it. As for me, I dont really get stimulated by food, but I know what you are getting at. We need to eat, so I dont see what we can do about that. Im a vegetarian and I cant eat most sweets, so I'm stuck with chocolate and Im quite sick of it. I love meat, but thats a different story. If there's a medical need for it, then that isnt what I have a problem with. As for caffeine, I dont drink tea or coffee. I used to drink a lot of tea when I was younger, but then realised that I was drinking so much of it because I was addicted and had no control over myself. I think that coffee is a lot worse for people and addictions to coffee dont do anybody any good. They feel as if they NEED coffee to survive the day. I'm the same about other things sometimes and I need to get over it. They're better off drinking fruit juice or water, rather than having something similar to a smoking addiction. I do drink quite a lot of hot chocolate and chocolate flavoured milk, but in my defence, I need to for the protein, because im a veggie and milk doesnt taste that good. Ok, I'm hearing you. I'm quite happy with a good book. I've got so much to explore and learn about, so I'm fully occupied. Im studying Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture, so I've got a few thousand years of history and over a billion people to keep me entertained. If you see it as a form of exploration, then that's certainly interesting. The Chinese have a lot of their own problems where drugs are concerned, so I'm not one of those the grass is greener on the other side types, but their history and all of those ancient philosophies have taught me a lot. I'd recommend for everybody to read a book called Journey to the West. The book is probably the best story ever written and it has more lessons in it than any holy book. It's absolutely stunning: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Journey-West-Chengen-Wu/dp/7119016636/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207420548&sr=8-1 After you read it, you will forget about the Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Its considered as one of the four great Chinese novels and China has the longest written history in the world. The book is 100 chapters and over 2,000 pages long. It was written before Shakespeare was even born. I just want to learn from life and become wise with age. I'm happy with what I have. I like long distance running, but would never want to be a skinny Ethiopian. Yeah, Im borrowing 3 of his Xbox 360 games and he has me playing Call of Duty 4 with him! I'm quite freaked out by it all.
  8. "Never argue with people who take drugs." Especially if they're off their head on coke. There's this guy at work who is such a gentleman, but whenever he drinks or takes drugs (anything and everything) he will go nuts. He is famous for going around town at night and randomly attacking people. I hope he doesnt read this forum.
  9. I've never had to suffer from being fat. I run for about 20 minutes every morning, drink lots of milk and eat lots of nuts. I sometimes do sit ups, but I havent done any in a while and it hasnt made any difference. I really do need to start doing them again though, but I never exercise on an empty stomach and im often hungry. Just get lots of protein and have plenty of fruit for snacks instead of fatty foods. Im a vegetarian and its hard to gain weight when eating is often such an awful experience.
  10. Well, none of the great philosphers I am a fan of were drug users. Buddhism is strongly against drug use and that religion is all about reaching enlightenment. The brain works at its best when its working the way it's supposed to. Drugs just disrupt it. Maybe the drug you are using is simply blocking off the part of the brain telling you that your thoughts are wrong, thus leaving you feeling enlightened and as if you are on a spritual journey. Perhaps your brain would normally tell you not to be so silly. You say that you cant achieve that level of thought while sober, but I bet you could get a lot further, it just might not 'feel' like it. Im not a Buddhist or anything, but I certainly agree about desire and how its a bad thing. I feel as if no unhappiness = happiness and that happiness is really the sense of feeling nothing at all. Desire = unhappiness. It's best not to have any need for drugs or to feel the desire to feel good, coz not feeling bad is good, if you know what I mean. Parklife!
  11. Ironicaly, the stand is the worst thing about it. It would look much better without the stand.
  12. Do you guys still watch Neighbours? I stopped watching it once it switched to Channel 5, Im not having any of that Channel 5 nonsense. Isnt Ringo that teenager who has all of those bulging muscles? Is he supposed to be an anorexic?
  13. I'm against drugs and alcohol, the world would be a million times better off without them. Look at Britain, the culture of this country is pathetic and people don't seem to know any better. Nobody needs drugs to make themselves happy, nobody should feel that they do. The British people's love for alcohol has made this into one very dull and worthless country. We're a nation of good for nothings. I personally think its pathetic to take drugs, it is like a pigs appetite for food. You shouldn't just do things because they feel good, you'll end up causing a lot of harm. Self control is a very good thing and so is realising that you dont need chemicals to mess with your brain in order to make you feel good about yourself and life in general. I dont think people are just harming themselves, but they are ruining society for the decent people in life. It's really sad to see people defending a very sick and depressing way of life. You could be much happier than drugs could ever make you if you just looked at the world and the other experiences it has to offer differently.
  14. Are there any other desktops on the market that are similar in size and style to this? Im after something small and stylish for my next PC.
  15. You can only scroll through the page if you click on the page's tab or the black background. Im using Opera.
  16. They are called Dusky Leaf Monkeys. I took those pictures at Penang's Botanic Gardens. They are usually really shy and dont like to get too close to people, but these ones were hanging around outside the Cactus House. Thats an amazing pic Stefkov! Taiping Lake Garden:
  17. I had to literally put the camera in the monkeys face for the first one. The quality of the original photos is better, but I had to resize and save them in paint.
  18. As far as Nintendo goes, I have now lost almost all of my interest in playing games. The last game worth playing for me on a Nintendo home console was Resident Evil 4. I've completed that 4 times... I owned about 50 games on the GameCube and own 3 on the Wii. I read reviews and comments, so im not going to spend £30-£40 on rubbish half arsed games like the Umbrella Chronicles or Sonic. I just think that the Wii is so crap. It has such a silly controller that isnt anywhere near as good as I imagined (its far worse than the GameCube controller) and its graphics are awful. The wii remote seems like a joke, I dont even know whether its supposed to be as awful as it is on my TV. The pointer doesnt even line up with where I am pointing. (Im not playing games on my sensor bar!!!). Why have a pointer when you have to point it away from where you need to point it? Even my fav franchises like Mario seem too confusing and alien for me to consider buying. The only game Im looking forward to is the next F-Zero, but F-Zero X was better than GX... That franchise is getting worse. I wanted a GameCube 2, but the Xbox 360 seems like a far more loyal successor than the Wii. I think I started to lose faith in Nintendo once they announced that its name was the 'Wii'. Does anybody else want to scratch that stupid name off their Revolution? The only good thing about it is the Virtual Console. As I only own Nintendo consoles, gaming has definitely got worse since the days of the N64 and GameCube. The DS is a brilliant console though and its probably my favourite console of all time. Good games never die and a lot are far better than their sequels..
  19. A Blu ray disc can store 25GB of data if its single layered. Virgin Media will be rolling out cable broadband speeds of up to 50Mb soon. They currently offer 20Mb. 50Mb / 8 = 6.25MB a second. 6.25MB x 60 = 375MB a minute and 22.5GB in an hour. That means that the speed is there to download films faster than you can watch them.
  20. Oh, I totally agree. I stuck with composite during the GameCube era and everything looked fine on a SDTV.
  21. If you dont feed pidgeons, they'll soon go away.
  22. Weak people would be people who dont even have the means to be alive.
  23. Natural Selection for the win! It's extreme and not plausable, but in the wild, the weak are nothing but meals for the strong and thats good for their specie as a whole. If weak people dont die, then people will just get weaker and weaker in the future.
  24. I would never donate my organs. There are far too many people in this world and on top of that, letting weak people survive and have children is bad for the health of the human race.
