Sage is yes*. People often use 2 or 3 in a team (the book is also a monster drop*). Change a mage or a priest if you have one. * unless something changed in this version

Only about 10 hours in. Doing some grinding myself as there were some monsters with Flame Breath which can attack twice per round and you can encounter 2 - 3 of them at once. With other monsters, so they can easily end up wrecking your team. Went with Thief, Mage and a Priest with a Monster Wrangler and Merchant waiting at the back. Just realised some story based achievements didn't unlock so that's annoying.
