  1. Actually, that's just the asian reaction to Alcohol, which they can't deal with like Europeans. We made beer to clean water, they made tea. Centuries of debauchery later, we've developed a resistance to booze they don't share.
  2. it looks about 4 inches deep from my warm, cozy penthouse.
  3. apparently, all the buses are canceled anyway. Boo Hiss.
  4. Agreed on BSG. The first six or so episodes of season three were amongst the very best in the whole show, and easily the best television screened that year. Speaking of 'best TV', did anyone watch Wallander on Sunday? BBC effort, so check your iplayer. Kenneth Brannagh stars and directs tv film adaptations of a Swedish detective series of books. Brilliantly made (it oozes budget) and atmospheric, they're easily the finest production the BBC has tackled in years. on to the second 'series' now (they do them in sets of 3) but it's done in such a way that there's no strict narrative between the episodes because they're standalone novels.
  5. ewww, gross. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=1729
  6. I'm not actually reading FF. I just saw that on CBR The series always struck me as a tad...twee.
  7. Yeah I was thinking that. someone find my mental image thread. That was gold.
  8. I saw that alot in Hull. It's basically a thing to declare yourself a massive, screaming cockpiece.
  9. Clash of the Titans looks absolutely dreadful. Titans Will Clash indeed.
  10. Yeah, you guys look ruined. Good sign, I'd say.
  11. I think he's a quality actor. Check out BBC's Wallander effort from last night for a knockout performance.
  12. Worth a look at shopto, but but it delivered to work because they need a sig.
  13. Needs NYC by Interpol. edit: and The Only Living Boy In New York by Simon and Garfunkle.
  14. uhhh....wait...what?
  15. despite being an English Lit graduate, I actually hate reading Shakespeare. So much of the meaning and subtlety of the text is actually lost outside of performance that it feels futile and wasteful without the context of a decent production. I think the best way to go is to combine the two somehow so that the performance informs your reading and vice versa. Kenneth Brannagh and The RSC have made films that I'd totally recommend to that end, particularly Brannagh's Othello with Laurence Fishburne.
  16. Gotta say, that sounds ace. Much more interesting than the usual fare.
  17. Worst trend of 2009 (in adverts) was the one for folksy indie pop records set to charming World Of Invention scenarios in which sexy motherfuckers look fantastic and dream up madcap japery, enriching The Lives Of Everyone as they go. The advert is, naturally, about credit cards or something. Less of that, please.
  18. They're good products, yeah. It's not a fucking lifestyle choice though. People act like having their stuff makes you a better person. For the record, I have an ipod and it's awesome.
  19. re: BSG picture. firstly, you should all watch it you daft bastards. secondly, it's not really a spoiler. I'm pretty sure that's taken from the first....half hour, maybe an hour in to the mini series. It's on the same spoiler level as finding out that Luke Skywalker is a farmer. not bad predictions in the OP, but I disagree on the Democrats loosing the house, on the grounds that the Republicans are so incredibly unpopular now. I'd also take issue with the death of print news. It's probably coming, but not in 2010. We'll see the collapse of the remaining local papers first, which are likely to be replaced by 'micro news' efforts online and such, but the large media groups like The Guardian aren't going anywhere fast. Interesting tidbit though: The current editor of The Guardian said, five years ago when the paper bought a new set of presses, that they would be the last set the paper ever buys. The presses have a twenty year life span. Make of that what you will. as for the ps3...do want. Should be a good year for the machine.
