  1. the last one has to be House of M, surely.
  2. Not a bad list. I think you've chosen a few bands that I'd put elsewhere- like the stones. They wrote and recorded much better songs a few years later. I'd put the zep earlier, too, and pick from their first LP.
  3. Bucky is so much more interesting than Rodgers. I hope he's Captain America for a long time to come.

  5. Yeah it's entirely counter productive. Personally I love good achievements- Geometry Wars 2 is very clever for giving you rewards for playing the game in different, counter intuitive ways. More games should do that.

  7. Eurogamer have an amusing article on one man's absurd quest for 10,000 gp in 24 hours. It's ridiculous, and highlights just how shit most achievements are. Goes to show how stupid the guys who go for the 'shit game but play it for points' crowd are, too.

    Vanquish

I dunno. Personally I'm looking forward to stopping that from happening.

That looks pretty good- somewhere between Gears and SHUMP aesthetics. Interesting.
  10. Happy birthday guys.
  11. That's pretty hyperbolic. When a bunch of psychotics fly full passenger jets in to the tallest, most iconic buildings in the world and murder around 3,000 people in the process, that shit is scary. It doesn't matter how it's told. the political climate following wasn't helped by the media, though. It's interesting to go back and see how damaging the lack of investigative journalism was to the situation. Media groups largely accepted and ran the government rhetoric coming out of the White House (Axis of Evil etc) without doing their own leg work. It compromised their autonomy and, as such, their authority. It's no wonder public misinformation reigned supreme around Saddam- something like half of Americans believed he was directly linked to 9/11. If the press had been in any kind of shape at all after 9/11 that shit wouldn't have stood.
  12. ah yes 2099. Belive 2046 is a Wipeout thing :p
  13. That's 2046 right?
  14. the lightning effect is proper shit, though.
  15. Not a massive fan, really. He looks like a biker, not a God.
  16. Yeah Thatcher called it "the oxygen of terrorism"- basically saying that terrorism does not function if you cut it out of the media. Interesting idea, but like you say the papers need to report what happens. You can't just stop covering something because you don't like it.
  17. Which course was it, out of curiosity? aside: I was having a chat with my tutor who was vetting applicants for next year's BA intake a few weeks ago and some girl's dad had emailed to try and get his daughter enrolled because she'd applied for Sheffield Hallam instead of University of Sheffield (both do journalism, UoS do it much better) so essentially: You want to be a journalist and you can't even tell two universities apart on a really long winded application process. You want the other institution to give you a place so you get your dad to sort it out for you? Good luck!
  18. Well they could have had other reasons. in fact, someone's opinions on the media (validly held, I know what you mean myself and I'm doing a journalism MA) is quite a poor reason to not accept someone. It'd be unprofessional. I'd just have expected a better reason not to accept someone from an academic position, especially as they interviewed you.
  19. Out of curiosity, is it the done thing for gay couples to have one guy who goes on top every time?
  20. Did they tell you that explicitly or is it conjecture on your part?
  21. He's got a good backhand.
  22. Happy birthday Rummy, you sexy son'bitch.
