  1. Happy birthday Ashley!
  2. Yayyyyyy cats! Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! =D Though I have to be honest, I was kind of hoping for a real cat. =( Maybe next year...
  3. But not the one we need right now. I think. Or maybe he just likes to believe he is a hero... At his old age, it wouldn't surprise me if dementia has kicked in already. In any case, somehow he has managed to survive another year! So let us give him a big round of applause and congratulations! Well done Fierce_LiNk, you old chap! Happy birthday!

    Glasses

I love my contacts, I could not go to wearing glasses. I have been wearing contacts for more than 10 years now I think and it just helps so much. I do have glasses for in the evening when I am at home, but I really don't like wearing them. When I wear them for a few hours, they end up giving me a headache, especially when I am using a computer/laptop. Plus I hate how you have to turn your head to see something to the side of you, or how the glasses get dirty. Not that contacts are without problems, but I find them so much better to wear. Though I guess it depends on the brand as well. I had to switch to a different brand a few months ago as they seem to stop selling mine, but I don't like my current ones. They keep making my eyes go dry and blurry and can be irritating... What brands do people use here that they are happy with? I want to find a better brand but not sure what to go for. =)
  5. So even though I recently got a promotion in work (for which I am still waiting to actually get started in), I am still looking for other jobs. I recently found one online on Reed.co.uk (and on Jobsite.co.uk) and I was trying to apply for it. But it seems like neither of these sites will accept my CV... as it is too big. On Reed, they only accept a file size of up to 200kb, which is kind of problematic as the job application asks you to include samples of your work. There is no way I can include images in a Word or PDF file and keep it below 200kb, it just seems impossible! At the moment the file size is 2Mb... Does anyone know if there is any way for me to lower the size of my file without completely losing out on quality? =(
  6. Thank you. =) I did send my digital portfolio to some publishers a year ago or so, but never heard back from them. I really need to invest in printing out my portfolio and sending it around to more, but it costs so much money and you are not guaranteed to hear anything. It is quite depressing. =( I might send my stuff to publishers in Belgium as well, might have more of a chance there. =P
  7. How can I add friends to MyFitnessPal? I have the app on my phone, but it only lets me add friends through Facebook or my contacts. No clue how it works to add someone. =P
  8. I am horrible with resolutions, which is why I never really do them. My ones for last year were: - Find a different job, one I like. Didn't find a different job, but am getting a new position in two weeks. Though I don't know yet if that will be any better. =P - Join the gym for squash and get fit! I did join the gym for squash but sadly did not get fit. Probably got worse, whoops. - Save monies. This didn't really happen. Money went on new car, new tv, Glastonbury, going to Belgium for my sister's wedding, seeing my family in London (all good things though!). Resolutions for this year are similar: - Get fit and lose weight (at least 10kg, preferably 15kg) - Start saving for a holiday and a house - Look for a different job - Start illustrating more and try to do something with it (contact publishers?) - Maybe learn webdesign - Do more fun things, go out more (already planning to go to a festival so that's a good start!) We will see how it all goes. =P
  9. I have a fit meter so will try to use that every day. Though since my job requires me to sit at a desk all day, I don't think I will get many steps from that. =P
  10. Actually when I was younger/in uni, I could spend hoursssss playing games haha. Especially during holiday breaks (which I wish I could still get!); these days I rarely get to play. Was nice to get to do it again yesterday though. It ended up being even more than 7 hours in the end, oops. Lazy day. =P
  11. I tried this out today, only did a few exercises (I suck at those dancing ones, urgh!). Just a shame that our living room is a bit small, which makes it a bit of a challenge to do some of these exercises. I also have to completely move the carpet out of the way... does anyone know if it will still work properly on a carpet actually? I signed up to the N-E community, but could only see RedShell on there. I assume that means no one else is actually using this anymore? =P
  12. I spent about 7 hours today playing Rollercoaster Tycoon 2.
  13. Jim and I just had a nice relaxing day yesterday (only day I got off from work, boooh). I got up at around 12, really needed some sleep! We ended up watching lots of tv: Dragnet, part of Toy Story 3, Muppet Christmas Carol, Jingle all the way... We had a nice 3 course meal, starting with some starters (mini pizzas, onion bhajis, spring rolls and prawn rolls), a nice roast dinner (chicken, mash, roast potato, yorkshire pudding, gravy, applesauce) and then a chocolate log with vanilla ice cream for dessert. We were stuffed after all this! We gave our presents while watching Jingle All the Way. We decided to give a present every time Arnold would say "the doooohlllll". =P I got the following gifts from Jim: Nina Ricci - Ricci Ricci perfume 100ml Cacharel - Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss Eau de Toilette 80ml A Travalo perfume atomizer. And A Link Between Worlds. =) From Sprout I got a Wii U pedometer (still need to link it up): And from my family (who I saw earlier this month) I got the Ben Howard album and a £25 Amazon gift voucher (which has already been used to buy a Blu-ray player). Oh and then Jim and I played Monopoly until about 1:30 am last night... I lost, as always. =(
  14. Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you all have a lovely day!
  15. True! Though apparently it is more difficult to get a bonus in that role. We can get a bonus quarterly, which helps a lot (usually helps pay for my electricity bill). Also, I have to start paying into the pension scheme starting February, so any extra money I will start earning, will basically just go straight into the pension thing. Darnit. =P
  16. Today one of the team managers stopped me while I walked past her, saying "Have they told you anything?" "No? Told me what?" *no clue what she was talking about* "You sure no one told you?" "Ehhhh, no?" Turns out I got the promotion to a Quality Assessor role today! Whoo! I applied for it in September and only had the assessment test two weeks ago. Took them long enough to sort it out. =P But yeah, it is a small step up from being a support agent. I will now be benchmarking agents and giving feedback to them. Which will be challenging as it will be on a support vertical I haven't done yet myself. It will be a complete change from the support I had been doing so far, which is kind of daunting. But then I always seem to manage new roles fine, so I am sure this will be fine too after some training. As for money it is only £1000 per year more, which means that instead of about £1130 I will now earn about £1160 per month. So still not amazing sadly. =P But yayyyy! =D
  17. Thank you! I hope that we will have enough time to view all the things they want to see though, as they only have Saturday, then half a day on Friday and Sunday basically. Plus it is going to be buuuuuusy I imagine haha. But will be nice to show them around in London, they have never been apart from one of my sisters. =)
  18. Hmmm to be honest getting oyster cards for everyone seems like a lot of faffing about, especially with deposits and all that. Not sure that is going to work well, as my family will be leaving before me (so I can't get the deposit back to them). I think I will get travelcards, as it just seems to be a bit more convenient. Paying 30p more or however much it is, isn't an awful lot of money so I am sure my family will be fine with that. Plus if we can use it on the bus as well that will be nice. Thanks for the help all! =)
  19. I need some advice. My family is coming over for a visit this weekend, and we will all be meeting up in London. Now we were wondering what would be best to do in terms of tube tickets: can we get some travelcards for the entire weekend, or are Oyster cards an option? Or do you need to order Oyster cards way in advance or something? Basically we want the cheapest option, but I don't know yet how much we will be using the tube. We will be sticking to zone 1 and 2 I think, as the hotel is right at the edge of zone 2, near the Blackwall station (is that train or tube, and can we go on it to get to central London?). We will be needing tickets from Friday afternoon until about Sunday afternoon/evening. Though my family probably won't need tickets for Sunday as they can go into the city by their travel bus I guess. Anyway, it seems that a day off-peak travelcard might be the best option, but I am not sure about this. Can any Londoners help me out to see what the best option is? Not sure if it matters, but there will be 7 of us. =)
  20. Thank you! Your cards will be on the post tomorrow. =) Also, good to hear you are enjoying uni and making friends. And, happy late birthday! Thanks! I posted them on Thursday I think, so hopefully they will still arrive on time. They should do, unless the Royal Mail/Danish mail are realllllllly slow! =P Same applies for @Coolness Bears, @The Peeps and @gaggle64, thank you so much for buying my cards, they have been posted on Thursday and are on their way to you! =) And of course thank you @jayseven for buying so many of my cards! It was great to see you too in Brighton, Jim and I both had a great time. =D
  21. I had two of those small mince pies you buy in Sainsbury's... I don't actually like them. =X I like the pie itself, but I don't like the filling. Are there different types out there or is a mince pie just that one particular one with that type of filling?
  22. Haha which sister, the one in white or the one in green? None of us are twins though. I am the oldest: there is a 2 year difference between me and the sister in white, and a 5 year difference between me and the sister in green. =P Though it is not the first time we have been told we look like twins (me and sister in green), especially when we both have our hair down. @Animal: be sure to post a pic when you are all suited up!
  23. Family photo from my sister's wedding this Summer. =) (I am the one in the dark blue dress.)
  24. Usually Home Alone 1 and 2. Though maybe this year we will watch something else. Might have to be the Muppets film, as I think I have only seen it once or twice (I think, maybe).
  25. For anyone interested, my cards are here and are online in my shop! I am selling them for £1.80, however if you buy 3 or more, you can get a discount. You can get 3 for £4.50, 4 for £6 etc. Just use the code "XMAS3" before checking out. =) Let me know if there are any issues!
