  1. Well the job application says "This role can be either full-time (42.5 hours per week) or part-time (20+ hours per week). There is some flexibility on working hours." So I don't know. :P I would love to get the other part-time job for the whiteboard animation company, and then get this one as well (part-time), but not sure if that is really an option.
  2. To be honest I'm not even sure if it is a proper interview or just a chat, as she said she wanted to just speak on the phone or face to face. Decided to go for face to face (on a Sunday, as that is when she is available). We'll see what happens! Though now my mind is already going like "what if I apply for the part-time job as well and I am offered both, what should I go for?". I haven't even applied for that one yet brain, shut up.
  3. Happy birthday! Have a shabbatastic day!
  4. I may have just managed to blag my way into an interview haha. Applied for a job as a Digital Marketing Assistant for a hotel thinking it sounded interesting and I had nothing to lose anyway. May have bigged up my skills quite a bit in my cover letter and am now having a face to face talk with someone on Sunday. I don't even know if I can do half of the stuff they would want me to do, oops. This will be interesting. =P
  5. Thanks for posting that game, it is helping me get through the day in work. =P My highest score so far is 17052. Still not close to getting that 2048 tile though!
  6. Just to clarify, we didn't just take the cat in, it followed me into the house and we left the front door open so it could just leave again. We didn't feed it either and just let it go outside again after a while. I am not going to steal someone's cat. D: I would only take a cat in if they are clearly a stray, I wouldn't want to make someone sad by keeping their cat.
  7. Nah my last stop was in the Camel bar, which is close to the Walkabout at least (had my first ever Shisha there). So probably wasn't any of you guys then. =P
  8. We had a visitor on Monday, followed me straight into the house: I want to keep it. =D
  9. I will apply for it! Though it is going to take a while as they request a whiteboard animation rather than a normal CV. Better get my sketchbook out!
  10. Hooray Bournemouth! Might have bumped into you at some point as I was out until 3 on Friday, I am sure I saw a stag do gang about... though one of them groped my ass so I hope it wasn't one of you. =P
  11. Nope, no part-time positions. I won't even be in my current position soon anyway since they are moving me to a temp contract on a different contract, which is why I am looking at other jobs.
  12. I would have to find some part-time work first of course. =P But it would be an option if the hours etc. work out. The thing is they also have a position going for a part-time administrator, but the days clash with this job. I might still mention that I wouldn't mind combining both jobs though. =P Jim is saying I could try doing freelance stuff part-time as well, but the risk with that is that I can't predict how much I would earn with that and how much work I can find. I'd love to do that though, but seems a bit risky.
  13. I have just found the perfect job for me, a company that is looking for a junior scribe artist/illustrator. Basically someone to help create whiteboard animations. It sounds perfect for me as I can do both illustrations and animations... The bad thing is that it is only 2.5 days per week. Which means that I would probably not earn enough to pay for the bills as it is only 15k pro-rata. Why why why? ='(
  14. So we got our news today. I am not being made redundant, but they can't keep me on the current contract. So they are now moving me onto a temporary contract as a temp QA for Groupon. What this means is less pay, 4 week trial period and they can get rid of me with just 1 week notice. I asked them a lot of questions during the meeting in regards to my bonus, another position that might be going and other stuff, and they couldn't really answer anything. Bit useless... So yeah starting next week I might suddenly be moved to a different team again, won't even get to properly say bye to everyone. =(
  15. Finnish magician lets dog treats disappear in front of dogs to see their reaction. =D
  16. Oh no it's fine haha. I know that London has lots of jobs going, but sadly I can't move there (though to be honest I wouldn't want to live in London). Just makes me wish other areas had a bit more going for them as well.
  17. Guess it depends on your location as well though. There will be loooots of jobs going in the London area, but in other places it is a bit different. I have been looking for a few weeks now, but only found about 8 jobs or so I could apply for. Only got an interview for one of them, which was only thanks to a friend who works there. Didn't hear back from others, have been unable to find anything else in the last week. While my friend who is moving to London hasn't even been looking for jobs, yet she has had recruiters offer her different jobs and interviews, for lots more money than I would be getting here. So yeah, location can be a bitch. All that seems to go here right now is customer service roles, sales and accountant jobs. =(
  18. I did not get the Student Services Assistant job. =( Back to square one for me. Though if I can't even get a receptionist/admin job, then I don't know what my chances are of getting anything else. So far no other job has gotten back to me. Am crai. Edit: and now we have just been told we will have to go through an interview this week to see who can keep their position as a QA. Seeing as 5 people will have to leave the team and I have the least experience, my chances are very slim. =(
  19. @Ashley: no idea about annual leave, not sure it is an option as I can't really book anything anymore for March or April. It always has to be booked way in advance. Haven't heard back yet from the job, keep refreshing my inbox every few minutes. >.>; I really want to try and get into the graphic design industry somehow though, even if it is as an artworker or junior graphic designer. Ideally I would like to do something like providing illustrations and designs for educational purposes etc, but I haven't seen that job around here yet. Anyway, my experience is mostly limited to illustrations, not really much graphic design work, which means my chances are very limited. What would be the best way of getting some experience and stuff to put in my portfolio? Do I make some "mock" work, where I pretend I am making brochures etc. for fake companies?
  20. Great timing for this thread, as I am jobhunting as well! @MoogleViper: what is the reason why you want the new job? Better pay? Or is it something you would want to do more than your current job? 8 months is still a decent amount of time, and there is the possibility that they will keep you longer. You could ask about it during the interview I guess. As for me, basically I got promoted to a QA in January, then in February we were told lots of job were put at risk of redundancy. Since I just joined the QA team, it is likely I won't stay in that role. So I would either be put in a different, shitty role, or be made redundant. Oh and I kind of hate my current role anyway, so I don't really want to stay. I have applied for a few jobs, trying to find ones as a designer/artworker. Seem to get completely ignored for those roles. Applied for a job as a Student Services Assistant for an international school teaching English (basically being a receptionist). Not really something I would love to do, and I don't consider myself good enough as a receptionist, but I applied because it is a 10 minute walk from where I live, and the pay is ok (less than I am on now but still ok). I managed to get a first interview on Tuesday, then got invited to a second interview today. Apparently I was one of 3 they asked back. I will hear more tomorrow. I am nervous. I am not sure I want the job, but there is nothing else going around, and I really really want to leave my current job. One thing though, they want someone to start ASAP, but I have to give 4 weeks noticed in my current role. Not sure they would let me go early... =(
  21. Hmm I don't think they did, unless they did on RedBubble but then I wouldn't know about it. Didn't get anything through from my website though. My shop is offline anyway as I have a new website and I have to redirect it to a new host, which means my old shop doesn't work anymore. Which doesn't matter much because it wasn't used apart from the odd few (family/friends) once a year. Not something I could pay the bills with heh. =P
  22. I am so sorry for your loss, Josh. Hope you are ok. =( I am currently feeling quite... defeated and drained. The situation in work is absolutely shit and the tension is so high. Apparently in our team they are thinking of keeping on 10 people. There is currently about 18 of us. Since I am the newest in the team with the least experience and with only one supporting language (English, there is no Dutch support anymore), my chances of staying on are really limited. Plus I hate this particular job anyway. I am currently looking for jobs but there isn't anything going that I could do which isn't customer service. I hate this type of job and I don't want to go back into it... But I have no experience as a graphic designer/artworker so I am never even considered for those positions. I will forever be stuck in shitty jobs with low pay. ='(
  23. I got to see my lovely doggie again last week! I missed her so!
  24. I hate work. So so much. Basically we were told yesterday, out of nowhere, that 373 jobs are at risk on our contract. Which means, most people who work on that contract. They claim they will try to find new positions inside the company, but we all know most people will be made redundant, as there is nothing going at all. They told people today that some parts of the contract will be ending soon... some even ending tomorrow. The previous position I was on will be disappearing as well on February 21. I don't know what they will do with all those agents, if they will retrain them or something else or not (doesn't seem worth it when everything is scheduled to end in 45 days... At the moment I feel very angry and sad about all this. This is the second time in less than two years that this has happened, and it just feels like a stab in the back. No matter how good a job you do, you will get fucked over. I only just joined my new position 3 weeks ago, so my chances of staying are slim... and I am not sure I want to anymore. But then I don't know what job I could find instead as there is nothing going at all, and there is no redundancy pay or anything either. This is so shit. ='(
