  1. Booh, don't like you right now. We tried for almost two hours and we couldn't even get the website to load for us. Annoyed! We had already booked a hotel/B&B as well. =( But now we are looking into maybe going to a Belgian festival, so I guess it isn't all bad. Just wish we could've gone to Glastonbury again. Well done on getting tickets, lucky bastard. =P
  2. Sorry to hear about your hip pains Raining, hope it goes better soon. =( I am getting a bit annoyed trying to arrange a get together with my family. I am trying to get them to come to London for 13th - 15th of December, but it seems almost impossible to find a cheap yet decent hotel/apartment/whatever for 8 people, that is still close enough to the city centre. Urghhhhh. I hope this won't discourage my family from coming over, but this search is just getting painful now. =(
  3. Dad posted this picture of our dog on Facebook. Silly dog. =P
  4. I currently get rides from my colleague most of the time, and I don't pay a thing for it as she passes by my house anyway. =P But if we start working in shifts, it is unlikely we would be on the same schedule so can't use that anymore, boooh. I know that I should "move up". The thing is that that is pretty much it, after that you can't really go anywhere unless you go for a Team Leader position, which is almost impossible to get (and still crap pay). I would have applied for a job I would actually prefer in a different company (junior designer/artworker), but it is too far away and no way to get there, not even by bus. =(
  5. Small bump! I feel like this right now, taking the easy option. First of all I have sort of been doing it for a year and a half now. I have a job, I have a steady income every month. Which is great. However it is not exactly a job I wish to stay in for the rest of my life, plus the pay is kinda shit. However, starting out as a freelancer is extremely risky, I would have no idea where to start and I have no clue how to even get jobs going. So it is something I have been putting off. Now in my current job, there are some openings coming up for Quality Assessors and of course everyone is applying for them as it is a small step up from being an Agent. My colleague (who already just got given a QA role to start on in a few weeks) is pushing me to apply for the position, but I seem to really have my doubts about it and can't make up my mind. Pros: - I think it is about £1000 more per year, before tax. Not a massive jump, but better than nothing. - I wouldn't really be dealing with customers anymore (I think). - I have already been doing some of the stuff from this new role (benchmarking and Customer Survey analysis). - It would be a new challenge and nice on my CV. Cons: - I feel quite comfortable in the job I am in right now as it is something I am good at. I have no clue what I would be doing exactly in the new role. - It seems that the new role will be based on shifts again, however they do not seem to know yet what hours that would be. Seeing as they are planning to go to a 24 hour system, this could turn out really shitty. - If it is work in shifts, I might have to take a bus (if there even is one available), which would mean that any extra money I earn, would be going to bus fares. Or I might have to walk... which will take more than an hour. - I would no longer be using Dutch as the new role would probably be to support an English team. Not a big negative but right now this job is the only thing that is still making me use my own language. =P I don't know. At the moment I am unsure on what to do, mostly because this new role has so many uncertainties tied to it (what hours, what team, what would I do exactly?). I would basically have to start from scratch again, get training and work my way up to become an "expert" again like I am now on the vertical I support. I just don't know if it is worth it. =P
  6. Speaking about credit cards, what should I be looking for when looking for a card? I have no clue about any of this and when looking at the information about cards, it all sounds like Chinese to me... For example, I was looking at the Sainsbury's credit cards (since we shop there anyway I thought that might be a good place to start looking), but they offer 4 different ones and I have no idea which one does what and which one would be best: http://www.sainsburysbank.co.uk/credit_cards/cca_creditcard_zone.shtml#tab-compare-all-credit-cards What should I be looking out for when getting a credit card?
  7. Yeah, I noticed the change in colour as well, it's nice. =) Yesterday I finally found the time to play a bit more again, and something new happened that I haven't noticed before. One of my villagers wanted to play hide and seek with me, so of course I said yes. Two other villagers joined in and I was given 10 minutes to find them. Was quite fun. =) Also, a rainbow appeared yesterday! And I found some of my villagers enjoying some time together under the sunset.
  8. Might be down to how elastic your skin is too, depending on age etc. Every person is different so what works for one person, might not work for another. As for cosmetic surgery, I have had a nosejob when I was 18, after leaving highschool and before starting uni. Up until that point I had been feeling really self-concious about my nose, as it is something people had been commenting on since I was little. I still think it is one of the best decisions I made to have it changed, as I felt a lot better afterwards and I think it helped with my confidence. =) It is still not perfect (my nose and my confidence haha), but I am happy with it! So yeah, I would definitely do something like that again if I really felt I needed it (and could afford it).
  9. To anyone who has already finished it, I need some help as I am stuck! I don't know what mission I am on exactly, but I will explain it here:
  10. Well pretty much everything is more north from where we currently are, so it is all "up north" for me. =P
  11. Hmm I might have to look into getting a credit card then, as I currently have no credit history here if debit cards don't count. Don't think Jim has any credit history either, which might explain why Kia had trouble with our credit check when we bought our car. As for houses, I have been looking at houses in different areas. Up north is so much cheaper than here, it is quite depressing. For half the price you can still get a 2 or 3 bedroom house. Over here it is mostly overpriced flats. =( I guess that might mean someday we'll move up north, maybe somewhere near Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham... don't know heh. I wouldn't mind living close to Bath, but the prices there are still quite high. Plus we need to find a place that has jobs.
  12. Hmm, so is the Nexus 4 not going to be sold anymore once this lot sells out? Just wondering because I think Jim should get one (his current, old phone is falling apart), but he doesn't seem to be too enthusiastic about it. He doesn't like the look of it (I didn't at first either but now I like it) and he wants a phone with a great camera. Not sure many phones will have a better camera than the Nexus 4?
  13. I guess it is different, in Belgium we like to build our own houses. We even have a saying for it, which roughly translates to "being born with a brick in your stomach", meaning that you really want to build and own your own house. It seems to be the thing everyone wants at home heh.
  14. Really? Most people I know buy/build a house with the intention to live in there for the rest of their lives. My parents have been living in theirs since it was built and only plan to move out when they become too old. My sister has built her house with the intention of spending her life there (two extra bedrooms in case there are kids on the way). My three friends have all bought a house as well and they say they all plan to live there, no plans of moving anywhere else. Maybe it is different here, but in Belgium people will usually make sure that the house they are buying or building has the things they need. Like one of my friends, the house she bought was old and needed lots of work, so she has slowly been rebuilding/renovating it to suit her needs.
  15. My sister rented a place with her boyfriend/now husband. Don't think they got any money from my parents, don't think they got anything from his side... though he had been working since a pretty early age so I guess he got to save up a bit. However they will be paying their mortgage for another 24 years... I think my parents only just finished paying off theirs last year or something. Ouch.
  16. Yeah, and even then I am not sure I could afford a mortgage... I think my sister said she paid something like €1000 per month for her mortgage. D: But then I guess her and her husband's pay is a lot higher than mine to afford that. Wish I had her house though, it looks lovely.
  17. I actually don't know how people can afford a deposit for a house and all that. It just seems impossible to me to save up that much money. I mean, I had saved up a £1000 for our car, but that took agessss. At that rate I would be saving up for years to even just get a deposit down (and that would be without any extra stuff like a holiday or something). How people like my sister can afford to buy a house, pay for a wedding etc. at the same time is beyond me!
  18. Had a great time at my sister's wedding yesterday. It has been a very long and tiring week preparing for it, but it was worth it. Bit sad that I had to leave early, but I guess 3:15 was late enough (in bed at 4). Seems my sister left 2 hours later so I didn't miss too much. She looked very nice in her dress and with her hair done. We all got lots of compliments too actually, yay. Three sisters looking pretty together! ^___^
  19. Sister's wedding, aaaaaah! It is going to be a verrrrrrry long day, but hopefully it will all be good. The hairdresser is here right now already to do our hair. The "venue" looks beautiful after lots of hard work that was put in by the family and some of my sister's friends. I would post some pics if I had the time but that'll have to wait until later I guess. =)
  20. Yeah Bournemouth is just a bit bleh. I do like the place we live next to the park, but the town itself is a bit shit. I had friends ask me what you can do there and all I could think of was "there's a beach". I am not a beach person though, never liked it much. In that regards, Brighton doesn't appeal to me either, especially since it is a lot greyer than Bournemouth. Brighton is great for visits, but not sure I could live there either heh. I would be looking for something green, but still busy enough that there are quite a few things to do. Not having kids haha. My parents have always lived in this city, my grandparents have always lived here, I think even my great-grandparents lived here as well. Most of my family even lives in the same street. =P I know that nothing will feel like my old home, but that's not what I want anyway. I want to live on my own, but I am kind of in love with this city. The longer I move away, the more I realise how much I like it. If I could find a similar type of city in the UK, that would help a lot already I think. =)
  21. I have been having a serious case of homesickness the last few days and I really need to write some stuff down because it is hurting me.
  22. Going home tomorrow! Can't wait to see my family again, but even more so my dog and cat. Missed them! It is going to be a very busy week with my sister's wedding on Saturday. Will have to help with lots of preparations, plus Tuesday I will go shopping with my sisters for wedding clothes (and to have dinner together), Wednesday I am meeting up with one or two friends for a meal, Friday I am meeting up with three other friends. And have a haircut at some point, finish a drawing for someone who is retiring, finish a canvas my sister will be using on her wedding for people to sign and create a house out of candy as a gift for my sister. Busyyyyyy! Looking forward to it all, though I do get worried about traveling there (especially as it is the first time I am doing it alone). But it will be nice to go back for a bit. =)
  23. Breaking news coming up! Hold onto your seats for the sports news of the day, coming up in the next few minutes!
