  1. Ahhh I forgot about GamesMaster and Wortal Comeback (ok I'll stop). They used to have so many cometitions on the tv with MK...
  2. QFT More games = better for the Wii as long as the average standard is maintained. For this reason I can understand why people get upset; as Nintendo fans we have high expectations
  3. Looks like a blast but what are the specifics of the controls? Is it like the vine climbing mini game from DKonga 1?
  4. You can have realistic movement (or should I say representative?) whithout needing realistic graphics. I'm quite a fan of unrealistic movement too. It would be silly if you weren't allowed to hammer Mario's skull into the floor like a dart when using the cape in Mario World wouldn't it?
  5. Its a really good quality vid. Shame Matt spends so much time pissing around that he doesn't actually show much of the level off.
  6. River Rescue on our Sinclair Spectrum, behold the awesomeness! First game I bought was SilkWorm on the Spectrum, probably one of the best games on the system. The ROM is out there people (not that I or R-E condone that kind of behaviour).Hells yeah!
  7. You know they already kinda did that with Metroid: Zero Mission for the GBA yeah? The suit is from that game.
  8. Woah woah! I'm not saying that Retro can't do FPS. I'm just saying that when it comes down to designing the game (as opposed to creating devastatingly immersive FP experience) the actual process is completely different. I agree with what you are saying, I just think that those skills could be best used somewhere else. Personally, I would like to see Retro get big enough to develop 2 games at once so they could carry on doing more FP stuff but also expand into new territories. To me, a dev sticking in one genre (especially one that they basically created) would let them get sloppy and unoriginal. After 3 games, I think it would be good for them to explore other things (just like actors getting type cast).
  9. I wouldn't classify any of the Prime games (bar hunters) as a FPS. When designing them Retro have to work like adventure game designers. I think them doing a conventional FPS would be a mistake though, someone else can do that as Retro are more valuable elsewhere.
  10. Something completely new. I don't care if they need to spend over 2 years creating it, I want a new franchise so they can (as they should do) leave their mark on Nintendo's heritage. As designers I trust them quite a lot.
  11. Sorry about the stupid kids but I thought somebody should at least get an image.
  12. Mate is that the trailer or is that someone actually playing it? Cos the trailer is completely different graphically from what was on display in the booths. That's why so many people got annoued.
  13. Yeah, I know what you mean but isn't photorealism a bit of a bollocks term? The final goal of this quest keeps backing away, because the closer we get the more we examine and the more differences we see. It will never be achieved without simulating the real physics of the real universe right down to the cell structure of everything a virtual universe. So we are also limited by scientific understanding too. The computer power and artistic input to be able to achieve this is proposterous.
  14. Thank god... I was getting so tired of IGN posting more movies and then screens from those movies, it's stupid! But these are veeery nice, especially the one in the dark room where link has backed that person into a corner.
  15. I get tired of photo realism. No actually I get bored of it. It is a holy grail like pursuit after something exponentially unatainable and while everyone is having their time consumed by this quest, millions of really interesting styles of visual graphics could have been born. Just because games can be escapist doesn't mean that they have to realistic to be immersive. For instance, I don't think that the graphical difference between MGS and MGS3 made me feel any more immersed. And frankly the game design and story did a lot better version of that.
  16. Hmm yeah but you could look at it like this: You have 4 categories of pokemon shape/size and you have 4 slight variations on each move animation to adjust to the surface contact coordinates.
  17. What did you think this thread was about? At least look before you post . The video has already been posted too. One major thing to point out is that the article says that the game is slated for a Winter release and then they claim that it is likely to be a release game! Logic = 0.
  18. Yeah they have been saying this. I'm still quite interested in how they are going to implement the concept of it. I'd love to just get one of my parents their own controller for xmas/ bday.
  19. Super Metroid Such a solid game. Lots of atmosphere, great graphics and just general killer design with the animation, moves levels and music. This is definately one of the best SNES game out there. For some reason though both of the GBA games felt totally inferior to this. 9/10
  20. Yeah but you get the jist right?
  21. Yeah I can't believe people aren't more hyped about this game. Looks like there will be a lot more action this time around!
  22. Anybody used Steam? For this if you had any games before you just entered the authentication code and it adds the game to your profile. I'm guessing that it will be like this on the Wii.
  23. So they are going to try and have regular hardware updates? WTF?! Don't take away one of the things that make the non-PC games industry great! Standardised hardware lets devs find ways of really squeezing the hardware, which is important for the health of the industry. Their thinking seems to be just really broken.
  24. But the back of it has tentacles that link into an abdomeny thing. It's aliiive!
  25. WTF? Four Swords sold better than WW?
