Donkey Kong Country I used to watch this all the time on cable in the late 90's. Most episodes had King K.rool trying to steal a crystal coconut, with characters breaking into song at least once in an episode. Looking back the show wasn't very good, I think I just watched it because it was something to do with Donkey Kong country. Earthworm Jim Channel 4 used to show this Sunday mornings in the mid 90's, so this would be the first thing I watched at the weekend for a couple of years. What I liked about this show was that it constantly broke the 4th wall, with character talking to the audience and poking fun at what was happening. This show has aged very well, still funny today. Fun fact: Earthworm jim himself was voiced by Dan castellaneta (voice of Homer simpson). Kirby: Right Back at Ya! I used to catch the occasion episode of this back in 2004 on Fox kids, I don't know why I like this show, maybe because its unashamedly goofy in what its doing. I really liked that Nintendo gave this show its own channel on the Wii! Captain N and the Mario bros cartoons were also favorites of mine.

Nice work from Nintendo, I hope they do this for more titles.

wow nice to see the 3DS take off. I really think Nintendo have done a great job in the last year in boosting support for the console and its paying off now. -
I'm unsure about this new belt design, I was always a fan of the winged eagle belt they used in the late 80's and most of the 90's and part of me hoped that was coming back (since they brought back the Intercontinental belt from that era too)

I wonder what Wii U exclusive game will enter the chart first this year. Here's the Wii U all formats charts for the same week: -

I know Patcher has a bad rep with his predictions, but isn't he just reporting figures he's actually seen here? I'm pretty sure he can at least get relaying information right in front of him correctly. or has he lied about that stuff in the past? -
You're right, most Mario games are quite different experiences from each other. Something like Super Mario 3D land is amazing but from the perspective of people that don't play Mario games often, its easy to throw out the criticism that "the're all Mario games, so the're all the same.". At the time time their is some truth to that, like Fused King just mentioned, all of those games have the same environment, same enemies and characters. And then you have Nintendo releasing two NSMB games not just within the same year but within a few months of each other, which doesn't exactly help the counter argument that they just make Mario. I think it would be less of an issue if they had more of their other IP's being released around all of these Mario games. Obviously they don't JUST release Mario games but for the most part, those titles get the most attention/push in advertising so at times it really seems like Nintendo is pretty much just a Mario factory.

I guess they spent their time focused on the 3DS, which has worked out for them as the 3DS really is starting to come into its own now. So the problem might be a knock on effect from having their hands tied up with all of these 3DS games they've been working on. Because to me, it really feels as if the console just wasn't ready yet. I don't know why they released it when they had so little software ready and even things like online were not fully set up for developers, yet alone consumers. -

Yeah this sticks out the most to me, after saying they identified all of the problems they had with the 3DS they seem to have made all the same mistakes all over again with the Wii U. Well, on the plus side, Iwata managed to turn the 3DS around (although it never in as bad as a situation as the Wii U is right now) maybe he can do the same with the Wii U. -
well damn. I wonder what Rocksteady are working on if that's true (i wish it was ninja turtles). Also I remember last year there was a rumour going around that the next game would be from the silver age batman era.

but part of the problem is that people don't even know the console is out, and I think part of that is down to zero promotion on tv . I mean, I guess they could just say "screw it, the games we have are not enough to sell this console, lets just stay quiet for the next six months" but i don't think anyone (retailers and Nintendo) would be happy with that. -

I've Still have not seen any commercials for the Wii U in the uk this year. The only time I have seen it mentioned on TV has been on a Netflix ad which quickly lists off all the support consoles right at the tail end. I understand that the original Wii U commercial was pulled for being misleading, but I would have assumed that they would have a replacement ad ready by now. Or at least an edited version the original commercial that comply with the advertising standards. -

Yeah Wii sports and Wii Sports resort were both great, I played both games pretty much all the way through the Wii's lifetime and still play them today. I was very surprised the Wii U didn't launch with a Wii Sports game of some kind. Although at the same time, as some already said, I'm not sure what the gamepad could bring to that series. -

Its still quite amazing that Nintendo have made a sequel to one of the best selling consoles of all time, a console that broke so many sales records and yet the response to the Wii U from people has been so apathetic. I feel like maybe some of the things Nintendo did/didn't do with the Wii has come back on them and has led to this reaction. More specifically the software droughts in the Wii's life between big releases. From a personal stand point I got sick of it and in the end picked up a 360 to tie me over between those big Nintendo games. I almost feel like Nintendo are unreliable when it comes to console support, you're at the mercy of their games only with almost zero third party software, so the stream of games isn't anywhere as consistent as it is for the other consoles. I also didn't like that they pretty much abandoned the Wii two years ago outside of skyward sword. -
This is still coming to Wiiware if anyone's interested: ^from the devs twitter

Its probably too soon but I'd love a port of Ocarina 3DS in HD. Also a remake of Mario 64 as Tapedeck mentioned.

yes all console releases have their own set of circumstances as to why they are selling/not selling so well. I'm still unsure what the Wii U's reason for its sales are. -

Also, take into consideration the huge price tag on the PS3 at the time. -
