I hope they show Nintendo's GDC talk somewhere. Some of the pictures of it look fascinating: ^They even built a 2D version of the game during production

I'd never heard of this game before but the devs dropped into giantbomb last week and did a playthrough a couple of stages. I'm really impressed with the way it looks and looking forward to it:

I'm not buying a Switch for the time being but just out of curiosity to those of you saying you're not buying one partially because there won't be a VC at launch, if the VC WAS there what games would you have wanted to be available on March 3rd? I personally don't think we would have gotten more then a couple of NES and SNES titles at best. I remember just a year after the Wii U was released for £350, Play.com was selling the premium model Wii U for £200 with NSMB and the Luigi DLC included. This is the reason I bought mine. Although of course that wasn't an official price drop, just a store trying to clear stock.

noticed Breath of the wild now has a page on the eshop. You can't buy it but it shows the price: £59.99 Thankfully amazon had the retail copies back in stock so i won't have to go digital and pay that much for it.

This is how I saw it too so this wasn't a huge surprise. I have to say, even if I was getting a switch at launch I've pretty much bought all of the games I've wanted through the previous two consoles VC catalogue so it doesn't make a difference to me as I'm unlikely to buy anything off the VC for it.

yeah I've been coming back to this game a few times over the past couple of weeks and I end up getting disconnected every few games, which pretty much ends my interest in playing for a while. I didn't have any trouble finding games though, lobbies filled up pretty much instantly in both ranked and turf wars.

I think i have a more positive impression of the game after watching this video but yeah, it feels a little shallow considering it's price. I think this would have been perfect as a pack-in game

Yeah I'm pretty much holding the same opinion as you are here, with the exception of Splatoon because I really enjoyed the first game. Very little about the switch itself appeals to me as I have zero interest in using it as a portable and its not going to have a lot of the features the Wii U had that I used all the time. Right now I'm leaning on getting a PS4 over the summer and then maybe buy the Switch with Mario is released.

It's a step back for me as I own a Wii U and if I was to buy a Switch, it supposedly would be the console replacing it under my TV. Having a bunch of features I've been used to, no longer be present in the next console, such as a browser, netflix and even Miiverse is regressive to me. Plus the Wii U browser is genuinely awesome so it's a shame the Switch won't have something like that. Hopefully they'll add it in the future.

I absolutely loved Dirt 2 but Dirt 3 went more inno being about drifting around stunt courses then being a rally game. If this is more like 2 I'd get it right away

Well I didn't pre-order Breath of the Wild for Wii U because I didn't think I'd need to (I've never had to pre-order any Wii U games in the past) but it seems to have sold out on amazon, which kinda sucks for me. Looks like I'll be buying it digitally unless it comes back in stock somehow.

ha that's pretty good: I remember in the original Wii U thread we knew when the first time the ad was going to air before hand and for some reason it aired really late at night, like past midnight or something on More4 ...and then I never saw it again. By January the ad was removed by the advertising standards authority: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-01-16-moderately-misleading-wii-u-ad-removed I hope in a year or so we start to hear some of the back story of what was going on at Nintendo during the Wii U's production. There is so much about the past 4 years of Nintendo that has confused me.

When put like this, it might seem that way. But those services offer two free games from the current library of those consoles, which you get to keep as long as you are a subscriber. I believe XBL even throws in a free Xbox 360 title as well. Compared to Nintendo giving a free NES/SNES game for a month with possible online modes added to them, it doesn't seem as good as an offer that you get for XBL or PS+ which leads to the price... if they are charging less for their service then Sony and Microsoft charge for theirs, then its far less of an issue, but we simply don't know which is kinda shocking when the console is out in 5 weeks time.

Yeah I think the Wii U version looks fine and it's the version I'll be getting, as the Switch doesn't seem particular enticing to me right now.

I think for people looking forward to this game that own a Wii U but will be buying a Switch at launch its worth knowing which version is better, even if its more then likely to be a slight difference at best. I read in one of the many interviews with Eiji Aonuma that the Switch version loads slightly faster, which was to be expected: Makes me wonder if the digital version on Wii U will load faster then the disc version though.

I didn't mind the Wii U interface, I like that you can see everything at once and can reaarange them as you please. However, I don't understand why they made the "Wara Wara Plaza" show up on the TV. Or why the thing exists at all really: ^Useless. And it's the first thing you see when you switch the console on. You can of course press X to swap the Plaza to appear on the gamepad and the game/app tiles to appear on the TV but then you can't actually interact with them unless you use a Wii remote...

I'm really going to miss Miiverse, it was great.

Seems odd though, I mean it's not exactly going to be a negative thing if the Switch were to have Netflix on it, since it would be an optional app anyway. I'd hope it comes to the console at some point down the line.
