What song(s) are you really into at the moment?!
The Bard replied to Aneres11's topic in General Chit Chat
Yeah, like I genuinely do not give a shit about Madonna. Of course, this is the song thread, not the music thread, so I'm not going to be an egregious asshole and insist a partition between music with ideational elements and music as pure music. It's bizarre to me that when people describe her songs they talk largely about the social commentary couched in a cult of personality, rather than any merit the actual musical element might have. But then, people don't have time for music as abstraction these days, and are more concerned with how it adds to their identity package. That was positively Kantian. -
I did, I got a 38 for a 17th Century Literary Culture essay, which is about as riveting as it sounds. I hated the topic, so I got dosed up on caffeine and wrote about linguistics instead, and got fucking panned for not answering the question. But then, I was consciously being a dick so I deserved it. Made up for it with a rather boss 1st for 4/6 modules.

Oh yeah, I know that place, just a little ways from the Printworks... went there before stumbling to Birdcage a few months ago. Worst night of my life

Jesus, what is that weapon he's using? Enemies just erupt into a crimson mist, it's fucking incredible. There's no way this thing is cancelled, too many people were excited for it. I mean, Bethesda didn't cancel RAGE, which was a total disaster with a dearth of hype before it came out, so I don't see why they would approach it that way.

Yeah the weather today was freakishly good felt pretty good to get out of the house for a change. What bar is it? [/stalk].

It's a fantastic little game. There are only 10 tracks though, which I know back to front by now, really just looking forward to the new DLC. Also absent is the ability to play against a friend online, which is just such a bummer.
-
Truly hope this isn't cancelled, from the presentations given, it looked like one of the best games due this year. Then again, you never know the full extent of the problems with a game until it's out, and I suppose the publisher probably has a better idea. Still, if this turns out to be true; such a fucking bummer.

That's excellent man. Looking forward to it . Edit: Daft, nice you beat my times on a couple of tracks. Are you playing with pussy pilot assist on though? Edit 2: Now just gone and trounced you by 11 seconds. Come at me bro.

That's true actually, the tracks in 2048 are a lot more like rollercoasters that totally fuck with your sense of vertical/horizontal, especially in the higher speed classes where you thrust off elevations in the tracks and it becomes as much about calculating trajectory as it is about finding a good racing line. Fantastic game, but not as visually iconic as it's antecedents. It also feels more visceral and less understated; the way the boost pads thrust you forward and the sounds of the weapons. Unleashing quake on a group of online players has never been so brutally satisfying. I've heard rumours of this, but I was told it was only for cross play/ the tracks, for some bizarre reason wouldn't be available for single player races. Also, the load times on this thing are a bit shit.

I've just realised that the aesthetics of Wipeout 2048 kinda bother me. The previous games were all about sleek, futuristic functionality, neon lights and simple coloration, whereas this game is a lot more earthy grounded in the present. I was saying that I like this in a sort of narrative sense, but really, it's a racer, who the fuck am I kidding in saying that I give a shit about any sense of temporal progression rooted in its aesthetics? Hopefully they'll provide some of the Wipeout HD tracks as DLC, would love to revisit those. I've been banging on about this game for far too long, it really should have its own thread.

That's pretty much what I did as a grubby grunion of a teen, when I couldn't pay for the alcohol I got stoned instead. I doubt the government wants to put us in a situation where illicit substances are easier to obtain and cheaper than legal ones. I've been cutting down on drinking anyway, so I'm ambivalent towards this.

Bought it yesterday

Might have something to do with the brutal amount of boozing I usually subject my liver and renal system to on those occasions .

I got this fantastic iPhone app called "Zombies, Run!" which sets you as a helicopter crash survivor just outside an encampment amidst a zombie holocaust. It basically works as a series of missions - the first being just to get to the base safely - where a series of characters talk to you and tell you your objectives, and during your run you pick up supplies which you can then take back and use to build up your base. You can also opt to turn on "zombie chases," which act essentially as interval training while you're running. It's really good for me, since I totally need motivation while running

Oh wow, now I've gotta have one of those.

Just wanted to say, my all out favourite game released last year - Portal 2 - is £7.49 on Steam. Total fuckin' steal, so hop to it, those who've yet to play. Also, I say that it's my favourite game of last year having not played the Co-Op yet. If anyone would like to get on that ish with me, I'd be much obliged. Lezz set up a ventrilo channel and talk shit/ play some awesome puzzles.

One of my best friends tried a lot of times to get me into It's Always Sunny, but I wasn't having it. I just don't get a kick out of dicks being dicks. Does the US Netflix have Tim & Eric though?

I really love the Bombcast, one of the best podcasts since GFW stopped way back in 2008. Also, if Davison is in charge of whatever faculty of CBS that bought them, then I'm really not too worried, John is a total legend.

Yeah man, Wipeout is the shit. It really sunk its teeth into me and I went and Elite Passed everything/ have an almost pathological need to beat all my friends' times, so bring your A game . Also, how fucking great is Mutant Blobs Attack? You basically play this spiky green macrophage going around absorbing shit, like a sidescrolling Katamari, except with a lot more variation in terms of what the blob can do and interact with the environment, and the settings tell this absolutely ridiculous but pretty funny story. I like it.

"Little did the clapping dog know, his trainer had lined his paws with potassium chlorate"

"It was in that moment that Jimmy realised wanking with kerosene was a mistake." "Lucky, the yelping cigarette lighter" "Fus-Ro-Dah?"

The first one was a collection of really shite old stereotypes that were thrown out one after another in an attempt by the middle aged, HGH guzzling Stallone to reclaim some "former glory," even though this, rather farcically, was contained entirely in the moment he babbles "ADRIAAAAAAAAN," like a child with fetal alcohol syndrome and a mutton chop stuck down his throat. I hate it, I hope it perishes in a fire.

It's tough right? I mean this effectively demonstrates the fight between two different tendancies in our minds that should cause some cognitive dissonance: We find racism loathsome, yet champion freedom of speech. I think jail time is wrong, and perhaps it should have been relied on the community at large to castigate this fool (in turn exercising their own freedoms) rather than subject him to the penal system. Twitter is subject to freedom of expression laws right? (Not too up on law)

So was mine. Duh

Danny, I don't think you should be able to have a sexual relationship with anything that isn't able to object to your advances. I think that includes goats.
