while looking at the news about GamerPAL's win atthe joystik.com award thingies, i came across this story in their news listings, posted 29th august: In a textbook case of robbing Peter to pay Paul, Sony is reportedly halting shipments of blue laser diodes to other manufacturers to ensure they will have enough available for the PlayStation 3 launch. Taiwan's DigiTimes.com is reporting that lower yield rates than expected mean that laser manufacturers, including Sony, can't meet the demand from the manufacturers of HD-DVD and Blu-ray drives and players. Despite recent analyst predictions that Sony will not be able to meet its own projected unit numbers for the PS3 launch, Sony still forcefully asserts that they will meet their commitments.

we never got anything official, but we put the ONM dvd on for an hour one day when the manager wasn't about, but due to copyrights etc we took it off before he came back, just incase. while it was on, an awful lot of people seemed very interested, and very surprised at what Wii could do. even if it was staged (and it probably is) it's still funny gotta love this scene: the screams, the gestures etc etc and the caption is "apparently" he got killed rofl!! looking at this i can't believe some people still don't think we should have to have friends codes or gamertag-type-things for communication online they're a NECCESSITY lol!

yeh but maybe all along ninty were planning a superb e3 and then this exclusive 6-hour conference of their's, which sounds mighty in itself!! they probably never intended to leak info at the GDC, and i think the internet hype has a lot to answer for in all this attacking. but yeh i do understand PWS, i have it too but i believe the 14th was always the planned date. (wish i had realised this before staying awake all bloody night for GDC tho, d'oh!)

this is true. although if you do decide to buy one that can access more than four surely your flatmate should split the cost... and if they don't have a device to connect to it yet, they're hardly going to fork out money. would you not be better buying a 4-way split model for now for Wii/DS/PC and then if a PS3 or 360 is bought you're still fine. if you or your flatmate wants to buy another machine after that you can then split the cost of a more expensive router....(?) that way, if you don't go above four machines in the end you'll have saved urself a fair bit of dosh. and if you do get a fifth machine the cost of a cheap 4-way and half a more expensive one will still probs be less than buying a more expensive one yourself.

you really should. even ntl these days are giving free routers away to people who sign up for wireless broadband with them. because i live in shared accomodation and i'm the only one with a computer i just got the lowest broadband package and bought the ds router. tesco though are selling the bulldog one (which tesco are advertising in store as "ideal for nintendo wi-fi connection" i've noticed) for rock-bottom prices and ninty recommend that one so you can't go far wrong if you can't wait for Wii and wana get your DS online. i'd say since it's now likely the Wii's online service is going to be much more in-depth than the DS', ninty will release another router that will serve BOTH the DS and Wii, and i'll happily buy it.

personally i think it's fake, but it's up to you what you write, it was just that comment didn't make much sense about playing Wii before the ps3 when they'd both be coming out on the same day if this were real. and Caris, umm.. calm down?! ur basing this on something which a lot of people here say is fake!! is it just me or are a lot of people just wanting to attack ninty on here recently? for no reason whatsoever!!

true, never thought of it that way... those sliders on the back, what do you think they are for then...? and that ad is brilliant, except that for anyone who doesn't know anything at all about Wii it doesn't actually SAY anything about the controller having motion sensors etc.

well, taking away the german one (as they didn't make any mistakes in my opinion as it was never meant to be a big event) i think they're doing fine. they have their very own 6 hour conference on 14th, what more do you want?! that's bigger than what any keynote could ever be at TGS!! and nintry not being there is not surprising, as it's sponsored by sony. and i think it DOES matter about what the console looks like, not at the buying stage no but later. it won't stop anyone from buying it, no, and if the Wii looked like a well slapped whore i would still buy it, but when i get it home i want it to look good under my telly lol. if i was buying a ps3 i'd wana hide it... or at the very least buy stronger glass shelves!!

ur being sarcastic right...? gcn had much better graphics than ps2. i do realise that if you are being sarcastic i now look like a fool for having to ask, but hey

no we didn't, it's linked by a cable, so the wii-mote will basically sit on ur lap or the floor while you use the classic controller. i like the way nintendo have done this, means a lot of peripherals can come out without them being too expensive, as all the wireless guff will be in the wiimote instead.

is GT not a launch title from ubisoft?

that is changing, how else do you explain the success of the DS over the PSP? it's just that people were never really given an alternative before. the Wii will follow the path the DS has trailblazed so far.

was wondering if anyone would catch on...

mario and luigi (in their game costumes for the first time) are trying to find daisy in koopa's building, and going up in the elevator it suddenly stops and two huge goombas get in. they hide behind the goombas, whispering desperately to each other. then the doors behind them open and more goombas walk in. the goombas are too thick to realise. when we cut back to them, the elevator is jam-packed full of goombas (i remember laughing at this stage about how un-hero like they are for taking the elevator, well they are plumbers afer all and not heroes straight away which i liked lol) and mario and luigi are crawling along the floor between them to get behind them to hide. then luigi hears the elevator music and gently takes hold of a goomba's back and starts to rock it back and forth to the music, then he moves on to the next. again, when we cut back, all the goombas are swaying, and even humming to the music, still unawares why they are doing it rofl!!!! we see mario and luigi escape thru a hatch in the roof, then the goombas start pairing up and dancing togther :D:D:D the lift doors open and their general or whatever is standing there looking at them all dancing in couples roflmao!!! (sorry for the long-winded response, i get like that when i'm laughing while typing :D a classic scene, pure brilliance!!)

or spend all your money on Wii games, accessories and vc games and wait for the next generation of Wii titles in 2007

it's not a colour, it's see-through like the original mock up controllers. the photos there haven't got great lighting so the buttons look dark, but they are just see-through... kinda cool

about time someone in the press (be it online or not) spoke out like this against them. i mean, it's not bad enough they've stolen everything from their competitors (xbox's marketplace, ninty's controller etc etc the list goes on) but they were so arrogant at e3 to stand up on stage and tell blatant lies, especially about why there's no rumble and how they came about this controller of their's. and the way they talked about the controller, saying there was "no need for any external sensors" makes it sound like it's as advanced as the wiimote, when in reality it has NO NEED of sensors as it's little more than the tilt cartridges found back in the day of GBC... sorry, rant over lol. was reading the e3 issue of gamesmaster today, have to say was very pleased that they saw through everything sony was saying, and were loving Wii the most

but look at the DS, and the original Xbox. 360 of course, but it had it's system up and running from the previous machine, they simply updated it but the updates didn't take effect straight away either. takes time to perfect these things. we won't have to wait a year like xbox and ds so i don't see the big deal, we're getting more for our money at launch than ever before!

how far in advance of the cube did they release price and date? i only bought mine months after, at christmas.
