  1. i'm inclined to agree. yes we need a rerelease of cube games for a player's choice sorta collection, after all what's the point in having the capability if new gamers can't get a hold of these titles? i've been swinging back and forth in this argument, and i'm inclined to think now that yes, it DOES go against everything nintendo are doing with Wii. If they are talking one or two games a la Super Mario 64 DS then that is OK, but other than that no, this is a bad bad bad idea!! concentrate on new games miyamoto! all the games mentioned here that people want should be getting full-on Wii sequels at some point, not cheap rehashes!! sure, release a lot of the cube games again as part of some "play cube on your Wii" player's choice range, and make them actually available in the shops, but just make either the classic or gamecube controllers the options available. retooling these games for Wii makes it look like a cheap cash-in. and a lot of them simply won't work!! one example is sunshine. eh? if that could easily be redone, then why make galaxy so different around the controller? sunshine wouldn't work, simple as that!
  2. that hicks video was good, and provided links to these three which are brilliant!: "Granny!" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6343218882618828140 "Obsessive Compulsive Cat" http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8267551933860088449 "Gay Referee" (obviously a set-up joke but brilliant anyway http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2910089814906431753
  3. yeh but they're having a lot of problems with them. sony are banging on about how great they are, that even if one of ur ps3's cell processors were to break down the other six would be able to cope without any noticeable affect on the console. however, word has leaked to the printed press that sony could be releasing ps3's with one processor down already. in theory they are hoping no one will notice and the other six will make up for it, but what if just one more breaks down? they are trumpeting their success in that one can break without anything going wrong, but not teling anyone that you could buy a brand new console which is already at that stage.
  4. ur right, i do remember something being said, either here or even in the magazines... they've definitely gone into production, i remember my mate andy and i speculating that there were millions of Wii's out there, just waiting, boxed, ready to play... {{{drool}}}
  5. here here... although i know i'm gonna swing like my life depended on it at times, just for the heck of it lol!
  6. this is just a way of keeping the backwards compatibility thing running. yes they're not 100% GCN games either but it means a player's choice range can exist, at the moment GCN games are rarer than hen's teeth in the shops. and don't feel sorry, if people wana buy the newer version of a piece of hardware it is up to them. i bought a GBA, an SP and a micro. i bought a DS then traded in my micro against a DS lite, and i'm not complaining in the slightest. i doubt anyone was feeling sorry for themselves when they bought an SP or a DS Lite for example, because they had chosen to do so. and if they had thought of the improvements first and they were possible, further ones woulda appeared by now anyway. same goes for PC's, televisions, DVD players, microwaves, radios, anything electrical, even cars!
  7. this sounds terrific, can't believe some people don't actually like the idea! when we all saw the original controller teasers we were all wishing we could do that in zelda!! now we're being given that chance a lot of folks are complaining... people doubted mario would work in 3d and they pulled it off. a lot of people doubted control schemes for the ds but nintendo pulled them off, they shall do so again. it's not like you have to jump up and down and do exaggerated swings, u can if u wish but remember it'll sense small motions too. a quick jab down will down the finishing move like they've already said, and a flick of the wrist with the nunchuku and there's ur spin attack... again, like they've said. we're meant to be getting something new, we all want Wii, yet some people want old fashioned control schemes back... then go buy the GCN version and don't bother with a Wii, because new control schemes and "new ways to play" are what it's all about. the only people complaining that games won't work with the wiimote should be sony fanboys lol, just kidding with that last sentence.
  8. mine will probably be lost in amongst the christmas threads too, but hey its 21st december, the shortest day of the year... always a pain as a child that! birthday parties had to end earlier darn it! plan to "do" something for my bday this year, as i turn 30 next year and refuse to let that be the next big one, so from now on 29 is a milestone birthday people!!
  9. exactly, to create demand and give the false impression. hate that bloody company when you read so much of this stuff about them! and this whole thing about them being able to work just as well with one cell processor down sounds llike a bad excuse to me for the fact that a lot of them appear to have one faulty cell processor in them already according to... it was either edge or games tm, can't remember. and what happens when another goes down, and because you got a faulty machine in the first place it's now two cells down...?
  10. nintendo got cocky and it was their downfall... i can see it happening to sony now too. i mean, with that amount of units, and the fact that it has some severe competition from the already-installed 360, and the brand new Wii which will eat up a lot of the market i'd say (unsurprising that these "analysts" were probably paid by sony in the first place!) and not forgetting the ps3 pricepoint... well, they'll need more than massive crabs to help them outta this one! oh, and i didn't mention on this, my third attempt (lol) at posting this, that this information was passed on to me by starwaster
  11. nope, coz they never force you to spend your money. and they can hardly have "done it right first time" with the GCN games since there was no Wii back then, but i get ur point but it's a little unfair to blame them for u spending so much money. as technologies improve it's obvious companies will release newer versions of their products, not just in videogames hardware!! it's up to you whether you want to be them or not. as for these games, this idea is more for casual gamers and newbies... after all let's face it the ps2 and xbox games will still have shelf space (well, the xbox not for much longer i'd say) whereas the cube does not, so having a backwards compatible machine would be pointless if these games weren't available.
  12. ak d'oh! i'll get it right eventually ashley, sorry mate! ok, here's the linky again now that it's in this thread... http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3660&Ite mid=2
  13. i'm going to get lynched for this but... downloaded the mario movie! ouch! ouch! stop hitting me!!! i watched it on video when it first came out in '93 and loved it, but back then all i knew about mario was super mario bros the original nes game. be interesting to see what i make of it now im a huge fan... i'l let you know lol...
  14. that was my fault for postingthere in the first place. only thing is, fewer at launch, like 360, sony will spin this to look like the demand for their machine is so high it's sold out everywhere :S
  15. (sorry ash, but like you said i rushed here as quick as possible ) starwaster sent me this link since he can't post links yet, have a gander at this!!: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3660&Itemid=2 what's also funny is not only the fact that it isn't being made yet, but what the analysts have "predicted"! i can't believe people get paid to make these predictions... based on WHAT! the last generation? that's stupidity, with the 360's online service and the change of direction Wii is taking! this next generation (or "new" one too) is completely different!! remember the article ngamer did on "analysts"? if anyone hasn't read it i'll post it up, it's just another thing to laugh at in this news story above too!
  16. apologies if this has been reported on, but i never found mention of it anywhere until now. starwaster sent me this link since he can't post links yet... have a gander at this!!: http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3660&Itemid=2
  17. didn't think it was too bad, especially given the fact that it was tailored to casual gamers and was so easy to set up. saying that, i did get 25% knocked off mine because i work in GAME and when i wanted a wireless controller, even though GAME had they're own brand for fifteen pounds cheaper WITH rumble i still settled for wavebird. only once i got it home did i realise what technology was inside it and how much better it is than other wireless controllers where you have to point right at the cube. but at the time of purchase i didn't know... and i still went for the nintendo product lol... i may be the same with SD, never know lol!
  18. never thought of it that way. you're very right of course... hmm... ok my opinion of wiimakes is changing now...
  19. thats fair enough but i think nintendo may surprise us with the prices, if not then yeh buy any third party ones, was just mentioning ninty will probably release them too. the thing about the HDD's, it sounded like some people here were thinking of buying one for Wii, when really you'll have all the storage space you need for a while, then all u'll ever need with an SD card
  20. i can see your point, IF it is marketed correctly it may work. i just hope lazy developers don't try this, then when they remake a cube game but don't offer much to us and we don't buy it i hope they don't decide to abandon Wii, like companies like Midway did when we all refused to buy their lazy ps2 ports of medicre games they blamed the cube, remember? it could be a good idea to have an official line-up of wii-makes endorsed by nintendo that third party developers could release thru, with similar packaging etc etc. that way it looks like a little side-line to the main games to the casual gamer and they won't be left thinking that they are being fobbed off. did that make sense? as for burnout three, we'll be getting a new game i'd say, and if it was remade why not use the controller? what would be the point of an exact copy of the xbox version over that - none! a lot of the games mentioned here should get proper sequels (donkey konga, mario games, luigi's mansion, star fox etc etc) and with games like star fox coming out for DS i somehow think one is in the pipeline for Wii too to take full advantage of it. some games, however, specifically from the N64 (goldeneye anyone?) would benefit from maybe the original being available thru VC and a wii-make (controls, and maybe hi-res) available in the stores for a little more. Cube games wise, i'd say those more obscure titles that you can't get anymore, or maybe those not brought over from japan, but the mainstream games from ninty and 3rd parties should be getting proper sequels instead of lazy remakes. oh, and Wii LOZ also supports progressive scan unlike the cube version.
  21. doubt it, as newbies won't have made such a connection with him for it to be an important scene. these kinda big summer blockbusters take the whole movie for you to connect if you're not familiar with the characters already.
  22. let's hope it's not left to store staff some stores will just be too lazy or incompetant (sp? sorry) to do it :S
  23. so you DO have the GCN version, you just haven't played thru it, yeh? ah right...
  24. as metroid said the idea of a wiimake of some older n64 games sounds good (since i missed out on that whole machine!), but personally i wouldn't buy GCN wiimakes, at least i don't think so. after all, the GBA remakes on DS with touch screen features bolted on never appealed.
  25. just thot i'd add this in here for anyone who missed it. i know i did, so when davina kept going on about pete in the nightclub and how much he hated it, but seeing him enjoy it more the more he got drunk lol... well, if it's davina's fave bit of the series it was well worth loking up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV52yJtInkQ
