watch the movie, that's how i got into it, bloody hilarious!! and david hasselhoff's cameo is brilliant! spongebob is just so naively optimistic, that's his charm. and the original writer, stephen hillendorf, hasn't left. the second season is on even better form than the first. long live the sponge!!
-
here, here "Patrick, you still got that bag of winds?" ROFLMAO!!! i love the simpsons too, but i just feel old spongey boy is beating anything else on tv in the comedy stakes
-
that'd be the one advantage of coke zero, your teeth don't stick together afterwards lol! i love my sprite zero, but if i was ever in the mood for a coke i'd go for coke zero now instead.

i have river god and read the first few chapters but for some reason stopped, i can't remember why, coz i was really enjoying it. to know there's sequels has gotten me picking it outta my book shelf again, must get back to it! my favourite books of all time: 1) The War Of The Worlds by HG Wells An absolute classic, written in the first person when England is attacked by giant cylinders from space containing the martians and their deadly tripod fighting machines. The first really of its kind, written in 1898 this book has never been bettered in my opinion. Incredibly realistic, detailed and terrifying, a true classic piece of literature which never gets old no matter how many times you read it. If you thought the scene with Tim Robbins at the end of the recent remake was nerve-wracking, you've experienced nothing until you've read this book! 2) White Shark by Peter Benchley My fave movie of all time is Jaws, but in truth I think the original novel wasn't up to much, probably because the movie is so different and I love it so much. But White Shark is superb, from the same author. It was made into a tv mini-series called "Creature" but they changed too much of the plot as per usual. A Nazi experiment resurfaces decades after the war, a genetic experiment that causes terror for Simon Chase, a marine biologist running his own institute for marine conservation. It truly deserved to be made into a proper mini-series or movie that could've been a Jaws-beater!! Intricate characters, deep story, and suspence galore. Un-put-down-able, as reviewers might say lol. 3) Ok, I have a choice of two, but did you mention it had to be fiction...? I'll be brief and just mention titles coz its after midnight and im up for work early :S For fiction it'd probably be Dracula by Bram Stoker... For non-fiction it'd be Michael Moore's Dude Where's My Country? So fiction or non-fiction be ok? I'l write a proper summary on either one sure tomorrow. nightie-night lol.

i think spongebob is pure drawn genius lol! each to his own, but it just cracks me up, should be on late at night as well so adults can enjoy it without the kids. the movie certainly was the funniest movie i've ever seen, cartoon or otherwise

i was disappointed in coke zero because i thought it tasted exactly like coke! lol, ok, so yeh that's the point of it, and it IS a wonderful achievement to have the same taste with no sugar (don't know why some of u are saying it's rank if u like regular coke, tastes the same to me and i LOVE coca-cola). the reason i was disappointed was because recently i have become SO addicted to sprite zero!! sprite zero tastes nicer than sprite in my opinion. i like sprite, but the zero version just seems crisper, tastes fuller, and quenches your thirst like no other! i was expecting the same sort of miracle from coke zero perhaps lol. oh, and king boo, you are SO right about how good a coca-cola can feel when guzzled down in the heat like that!!

happy days indeed! nice to hear gamestation are so behind it too as for gutting the cases, there's only so much space a shop can have, to store all those games AND have duplicate game cases for every singe one is asking a bit much. a lot of the time new releases will have extra stock in the drawers still wrapped up and we'll give them out. and if anyone notices star points missing (before you leave the shop mind!) report it, so it can be investigated and the culprit caught! our store (yes ashley iv only worked there a few months but being 28 and having worked for past ten years i know what you mean about managers making decision without having a clue.... that's why northern ireland's railway system is so f****d up! (my last employer)) anyhoo, our store puts as many "live" boxes sans guts out as possible, but if that game has a lot of display cases we'll just file the live box and gut away together still sealed up. once a game is off the chart/display area and into the zig-zags we keep two copies of each game out, gutted, any more get put into the drawer complete. we have no games out the back at all, just masses and masses and masses of drawers on the shop floor lol!

if ur over 12 i don't know how u can find south park funny... however, spongebob is a different matter! THAT's the animated film this has to beat lol

French, German and Australian Software Charts
knightendo replied to Bo130's topic in General Gaming Discussion
in the australian chart there's quite a few "ps2" games which are multi-format. do these figures combine all formats, or just ps2? -
lol, ok "abyssmal" is definitely an exaggeration but i was trying to make a point lol. when we look at how the DS is selling in GAME (even before the Lite, although the Lite IS selling much better) against the "mighty" PSP i would definitely use that word though for sony's effort. on an average day we don't sell any, at the weekends when we're much busier maybe a couple. DS Lite's are selling much better, about three or four on our quiet mid-week days and up to ten or so a day at weekends. anyone who works for the GAME stores that have the KPI figures (sales targets sheets, and no we don't get commission lol) that you have to fill out at the end of each shift will testify that it's actually really easy to keep track of things like this, especially when you're interested in your job, just incase anyone was thinking i was just making this up lol. and ashley, i think you hit the nail on the head with what GAME is predicting. i think maybe they're expecting the ds to have a knock-on effect for the wii, and after the performance of the PSP after the initial "hype period" coupled with the high price point for the ps3, it definitely sounds like the wii has a better chance of sustaining itself over a longer period of time. and lets not forget the varied audience it could bring in too. oh, and ashley, even if the wii is only for the spare time during the conference i'm SURE they'll all be on it lol! does ur store really have to elastic-band all its games' guts? we put them inside their manuals and that's it, thank god!!! they probably don't want people running backwards and forwards to storerooms all the time, especially during peak seasons. is a pain having to gut every title that comes thru tho, granted...
-
hehe, true true. maybe it'd work while you press the 'A' button to activate it, so press it down and a sharp flick to the left or right would skip a chapter, or a twist of the wrist would fast forward or rewind, the speed depending on how far you twist it. hehe, i know it's sad for me to say but i'd find that fun and there's quite a few "stylish" dvd players going for about £150, simply because of how they look, so maybe anyone who doesn't have one could buy a stylish dvd player in the wii, with all the added nintendo goodness too
-
who, me? lol. well, needless to say if we hear of anything i'll let you all know asap.
-
a lot of dvd players cost next to nothing now tho, and a dongle is only gonna cost the same, maybe £20 to £30. either way, i hope there isn't a seperate remote, i'd love to fast forward and rewind by twisting the wii-mote lol
-
that's the thing, GAME use a universal system for all stores. you go into any GAME store and it'll be the same as any other, give or take a bit for the actual layout of the shop of course. so, happy days!
-
they ended up confirming it would, but that you'd need a dongle that would slip inside the wii outta view. but some of the magazines that have had hands-on with it (EDGE for example) have stated that it'll play DVD's straight outta the box now.... not sure either way to be honest, but it will defo play them... somehow lol.

having started work for GAME i've been amazed at just how behind the DS they are. they are no fools, they pushed the psp, yes, when it came out just like the DS when it first arrived, but the PSP is selling abysmally (spelling?) and a lot of people are trading them in for DS Lite's! talking to my manager she was telling me how GAME are remerchandising themselves this autumn, new mid-shop shelving, and a brand new look to the shop floors and staff etc etc. (as in staff uniform, we're not all being sent out for Extreme Makeovers or anything!!) the DS is apparently to stay at the front of the shops, taking up more space than the PSP, the Wii will be right beside this, taking up three full bays and maybe a floor unit too. the opposite front bays (at the minute) are unconfirmed but possibly for special offers etc. the 360 is being relegated to the back wall, the chain's official stance is that it is to "pull the already installed base of 360 customers down to the back of the shop past everything else, so they have to look at evertything else on their way past, you see?" the original xbox is being well cut back already, you'll see it getting the cube's treatment sooner than you think folks! the PC chart will still occupy wall bays but the majority of its software will be on the floor shelving (which is changing to long ailes like you'd see in HMV, instead of those small singular units) along with all the preowned. the psp, ps2 and ps3 (also 3 bays in the average-large GAME shop) will be between all the nintendo goodness and the 360 stuff down the back. not bad eh? they really ARE gonna push the Wii. oh, and sony have instructed GAME already that pre-orders for the ps3 will HAVE to be accompanied with a £150 deposit!!! AND the shops will only get enough machines in to cover the EXACT amount of deposits! yep, they're gonna claim "oh look we're so popular we're sold out, and that's making headlines for us, aren't we great" when it's being cooked up by them all along as per usual! one bad thing about my new job... my manageress is heading to a "special conference" in september in england, and part of it is playing the Wii and i won't be there! argh! lol!
-
retro-lover, the wii is gonna play dvds straight outta the box, is that not what has been said for this past while...? anyhoo, a white wii it is for me! now there were rumours that it might come with two wii-motes and one nunchuck, so that should do to begin with, though if multi-coloured wii-motes are available at launch i might get enough for four players for wii sports :D defintootely getting both zelda and metroid, as i can't choose between the two of them!! zelda because, hey, it's zelda(!) and metroid because unlike ZTP it's been built from the ground up for the wii, so they are definites. i need at least one multiplayer tho, so that'll be wii sports without a shadow of a doubt, and if it IS bundled then i'll get wario ware as it looks like a riot! i won't bother with the classic controller just yet, as the first game i'm gonna buy on VC is solstice (NES) if it's available (unlikely but hey i can dream!) i LOVED that when i was a teenager and stayed at my sister's in scotland during the summer months, and all i'll have to do to play them is turn my wii-mote on its side = sweet. sonic, red steel (and wario if i have to buy wii sports) won't be too far behind either!!
-
remember though this isn't NGC anymore, it's a brand new magazine starting from issue one all over again. it's ratings system is on a par with EDGE's stricter handling of scores, only this time represented through percentages. having star games being from 85% upwards instead of the usual 90% should show you that it is a completely different scoring system than normal single format magazines. i'll definitely be sticking with it, was jam packed full of goodness (though may wait for a different subscription gift as i have a wavebird). and the clicky button and the flaps on the classic controller aren't rumours. they may not know exactly what they are for, but the button and it's "flaps" exist, there were photos. they must be for something!
-
i think games tm is awful. they really are going downhill, and i feel they really are kissing sony's ass too much, and they literally attack anything microsoft or nintendo, or indeed anyone else, does. no wonder sales are plummetting! for a multiformat mag, a much more unbiased read is EDGE i personally feel.
-
i agree super monkey ball is NOT better than prime, but animal crossing, pikmin etc is i suppose personal opinion. personally i prefer prime but they could be argued satisfactorily lol! i was quite shocked at mk:ds only getting 82% and mario and luigi getting 80%, but then i thought of edge's 8/10 scores for both games and that seemed fine, so i guess this is the percentage equivalent. they DO seem a lot harsher than NGC, which i suppose is a good thing as they are a lot more mature with this mag it appears... so far anyway. i love the new ONM too, and i agree with their scores so far also. it'll be nice to have two different approaches to reviews and read two opinions again like in the heyday of the gamecube when i read both NGC and Cube.

Hidden Wii Pages (Friend codes confirmed)
knightendo replied to demonmike04's topic in Nintendo Gaming
so i take it if everyone could have the one code for all games we'd all be very happy with the friend code system? and in keeping communication with strangers limited yeh? me too... although here's something that hasn't been mentioned yet: remember it being reported last year that "revolution" (oh those days are so long ago!!) would include a parental control system for its games? how about if that same system was in place when going online? maybe then the adults in each house would be able to choose whether they wished to have direct communication with the people they meet online...? so then those who prefer the communication could have it? personally, i'm not sure if i'd activate it, don't fancy some stranger "f"-ing down my wii at me! -
it's not fair, i really am a night owl but i love the mornings too when the air is nice and fresh... d'oh! there's just something relaxing about being up late at night when it feels like the whole world is sleeping, even in the heart of belfast here! tonight in particular i'm knackered though, and have just started downloading wii videos, including the mammoth e3 conference, so just may let my pc grumble away at it all night... hmm... need nescafe!
-
i suppose yeh it just depends on how desperately you wana watch something. i could wait for battlestar to come out on DVD but that would drive me mad lol! yet i can wait for 24... even though i love it too. thing is, when i bought season one of battlestar (after not seeing the last six episodes on tv and having to wait six months to buy it!) i have to say i watched them even quicker than i would 24! i dunno, maybe because i've always watched 24 on DVD i'm used to it, with battlestar it gives me something to look forward to (and unplug the phone for ) every week and if i missed one and had to wait for the dvds to watch the rest of the series i dunno how i'd cope!!
