Well most of mine have also been suggested, so I’ve had to amend a few: 1) Sephiroth revealed as newest Smash fighter (the most obvious reveals are Banjo-Kazooie / Erdrick), which is why there’s currently so little Final Fantasy music. 2) Port time! Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, Zelda: Skyward Sword, Wii Sports. 3) A Western release for Mother 3! 4) 3rd party sequels: Mario + Rabbids 2, a new Professor Layton & a new Phoenix Wright, plus further details on Hollow Knight: Silksong. 5) Metroid Dread - back from the dead to fill the void before Prime 4.

N-Europe's Top 10 (Voting over, check first post for results)
WackerJr replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
Wow we’re getting tough again as there are a lot of very good games. I feel this could be a more competitive top 10 than most of the others. Strangely I don’t think the best are quite as good as some of the other consoles but the pool of “very good” games is still surprisingly large! Warioware, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! Golden Sun 2 Metroid: Zero Mission Advance Wars 2 Final Fantasy Tactics Advance -
I enjoyed the preshow. Great to see so many wrestlers in the Battle Royale, even if it was a little clustered at times. Nice match with Kip Sabian though! Shame ITV cut the preshow off midway through Cody’s promo! 😬😂 Still, here’s hoping for a great show. I won’t be ordering but I’ll read the results and hopefully feel bad for missing it. Cody vs Dustin and Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho are my two most anticipated matches. Oh, and when did ITV get the rights over here? I completely missed that announcement!

N-Europe's Top 10 (Voting over, check first post for results)
WackerJr replied to Glen-i's topic in Nintendo Gaming
It played really well considering the hardware it is was on. I never thought anyone would get a playable RTS game on the GBC, but they managed it! The screen size made it a little tough. The large sprites were a good idea, with the downside that you couldn’t see a huge play area at any one time. It’s worth tracking down if you have a GBC though, just to experience it. I tracked down a US-copy back in the day, and while I wouldn’t rate it higher than any of those top 10 games it was good and I’m certainly pleased to have played it. -
It’ll be interesting to see what they reveal, as the initial trailer showed a lot of new changes / improvements. I know it’s primarily a 15-minute hype video, but let’s see if there is anything new or if they delve deeper into the findings of the Gamexplain videos.

Big game for Man City tomorrow night then. Can they hold their nerve? Both them & Liverpool have ridden their luck at times this season, with yesterday just being yet another late late show! Still, it’s incredible just how much better they have been this season then everyone else. Over 20 points between them & they other clubs chasing European places, all of whom are doing everything possible to screw up their chances of qualifying - just crazy! Still, gutted that Exeter missed on a chance to lose in the League 2 Play-Off Final for the 3rd year running by failing to win their final game of the season. Another season we’ve overachieved though!

I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the trailer was just dreadful. For me, I agree with @Jonas that Jim Carey was the only saving grace. The whole thing just seems like a bad version of “Hop”. The last second of the trailer has at least given me some naive optimistic hope that they’re trolling us and that the majority of the film is actually going to take place in the Green Hill (& other) zones... Interesting that the Director has suggested that, due to such a strong negative reaction, changes will be made to the film before November: https://www.polygon.com/2019/5/2/18527449/sonic-the-hedgehog-movie-design-change-director

Mega Drive Mini (19th September 2019)
WackerJr replied to Hero-of-Time's topic in General Gaming Discussion
It sounds as though they’re finally getting it right. I’m going to wait though. I’ve already seen Sega release multiple devices designed to play Mega Drive games and reviews have not been particularly favourable. Walking in my local town centre and one store is even advertising two different Mega Drive Mini-style devices by Sega, both containing different games, with no reason why one should be chosen over the other except for game choice. -

Wow, like others have said, just picking 5 games to nominate is tough! This may be edited before the deadline but here goes: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Final Fantasy VI Super Mario RPG Super Bomberman 2 -

I always enjoy these types of lists, and discussing some of my favourite past games. Here are my 5: Micro Machines The Legend of Zelda Mega Man 2 (sorry @Ronnie😁) Super Mario Bros. 3 Duck Tales -
Rumours have been rife for a long time about a Cloud-based console from Google. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on, and while I don’t expect it to have the quality of games that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have, it will have the financial backing of Google behind it. That kind of financial muscle was missing from some of the other competitors in the console market previously so it’s worth being wary of what they’re going to be offering and how much it could potentially affect Nintendo’s share of the market.

Wow that’s not how I saw Nintendo announcing their return to the VR market! I like the idea of a VR-headset that’s cheaper than the competitors, but with Labo still being quite niche along the announcement coming via a tweet without a video suggests that even Nintendo don’t see this as being a big seller. I can’t see developers making many games with this in mind, so it will be interesting to see what Labo creations can be made by users, as this is the only way I can really see this being promoted. I am happy for Nintendo to prove me wrong.

That’s great to hear for you. It makes such a difference having a gym within walking distance and it’s good to see Niantic still being proactive in adding new ones.

With Frozen 2 coming this year, on paper with the sequels/live action remakes this is an amazing year for Disney films. So much hype, I really hope it lives up to it!

I’m really pleased the reviews are mainly positive for this, and I’m trying to find a way to get to see it. Paige has had a really interesting story, and with the sadness of her having to cut her in-ring career short, I’m especially pleased that this has also given WWE an excuse to keep her and give her continued TV exposure. Speaking of interesting stories with female wrestlers, I’m enjoying the (non-PG) Twitter war between Becky Lynch & Ronda Rowsey. It’s still somehow surely got to be your WrestleMania main event!

Wow that was some analysis by GameXplain! It did spot some things I did wonder about (as well as many others that I hadn’t!), such as the suitability of the Switch touchscreen but that it looks as though it has been set up to allow stick and button input. Following the success of the WiiU version and the larger Switch audience it makes sense for Nintendo to make this. It’s nice to see it really does look to expand on the original too and not be a simple port.

Dragalia Lost (Mobile) & Cygames’ partnership with Nintendo
WackerJr replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I agree about how it was worth the money. The issue is getting those ‘casual’ users to understand that a mobile game will be worth spending £10 on when they’re used to wither free games, or spending just a pound or two (regardless of the quality). We’re still sadly at a stage in mobile gaming where the quality of a game doesn’t seem to be as important to the majority as advertising, graphics & price. -
Lovely to see the kind tweets from those other companies and those that worked with him. For me he helped change the perception of Nintendo. His charisma shone through and he demonstrated that the usually secretive company did know what was going on around them and what other companies were doing. He interacted with fans and was not afraid to poke fun at himself if it helped raise awareness of what Nintendo were doing. Those people who have already mentioned how fun it was when Miyamoto, Iwata and Reggie interacted with each other are absolutely right too! 😃

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening REMAKE — 20th September 2019
WackerJr replied to Julius's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I’m mixed about it. On the one hand they’re revisiting one of the best games in the series, bringing it to many people who won’t have played the original. On the other hand I’ve played through Link’s Awakening DX so many times in the past that, for me, a straight remake doesn’t excite me as much as a brand new Zelda would. I’m ok with the art style choice. It does give the game a more ‘cute’ look, but it also looked clean and bright, giving a chance to show off the character of the other characters in the game. I’m not sure I’ll be willing to pay full price it mind. -
Agreed. While absolutely gutting that we won’t be getting the game for a few more years, Nintendo have had the integrity (& the money to risk losing by the delay) to say it wasn’t up to the standard they wanted. To be so upfront to fans is refreshing. As Reggie said recently, you’re looking at development cycles of around 3 years for large games, so we’re in for a long wait. As has been mentioned, Metroid in 3D has suffered from a troubling development before, but look how well they turned out! I do hope they have some AAA games to fill the long gap though.

I don’t believe Southgate would risk going to United, even if the rumours were true. He’s done a great job so far & is building a positive reputation for himself in his short international managerial career so far, giving us the foundations to grow as a country. He doesn’t have the greatest record at club level, so I don’t see what he has to gain right now in going to a club where more experienced managers have so far not reached the heights that their board desire. I don’t believe the rumours anyway! 😃
-
I still dip in and out from time-to-time and I’m pleased they continue to support it and add new missions and campaigns.

Thanks @Glen-i for this interesting thread. I thought I knew Pokemon spin-offs, but it turns out there’s such a huge number that I didn’t know about! I still stand by my desire to see a new Snap and Trading Card game (although I wouldn’t object to Pinball either!).
