  1. Nice way of plugging that next podcast! 😎
  2. I agree about the confusion. I’m excited by the premise, and the mystery surrounding the death(?) of Batman. I’m someone who knows next to nothing about the ‘Court of Owls’ @Julius mentioned, but it sounds as though the game will reveal more about them for people like me throughout the course of the game, judging by this interview.
  3. No, I really don’t have any idea. Even though the podcast has probably been recorded I’ll take a random guess:
  4. While a real surprise for Nintendo to drop the Mini Direct with no notice, it was probably a sensible idea to avoid any hype and frenzy. It’s tough as none of the games shown appeal to me, bar the SaGa collection (I’ve only played the first one). Had these been revealed as part of a main Direct then they would have gotten next to no attention from the wider audience I’d imagine, yet Nintendo want the indie support and this is one way to at least reward those smaller developers who have made games for the Switch (& indeed are saving us during these long waits between big releases). So for me, I think it’s a good idea that these partner Directs happen, it’s just a shame so few of these games grab my attention.
  5. I think it’s a tough decision for Nintendo with the d-pad, since buttons are really the only option when removing the joy-cons to use them each as individual controllers. Instant 2-player without paying extra is a real selling point in my opinion. I tend to use my Pro Controller as much as possible since the diminutive size and closely placed buttons on the joy-cons are really not my favourite. There are almost too many things I’d like to see fixed if they upgraded the Switch. Already I’m frustrated that newer Switch users are benefitting from a better console than me (read: battery life) when we’re supposed to have the same console, and It will take a huge amount to convince me to pay to upgrade unless, for example, there are games that cannot be played on the original model, like the 3DS to New 3DS.
  6. For those that aren’t aware, the majority of Legend of Zelda amiibo are available to pre-order again from the Nintendo Store.
  7. Well since we are simply seeing all these other ports on Switch this would be pretty cool! Suddenly you’d have virtually the full Final Fantasy mainstream games on a Nintendo console! Then we could get Square to add local multiplayer to Crystal Chronicles too! 😃🤞
  8. The development of Metroid Prime 4 sounds like such a struggle with so many difficulties to the general public. While I am a little concerned, I’m assuming the ‘duck’ approach where we’re getting an impression of the frantic unwieldy paddling going on under the surface, but when we finally see the game, it was be beautiful and graceful, ala the duck above water. 😄 This seems reminiscent of the first Metroid Prime and all the development difficulties that faced.
  9. Ah that makes a lot of sense. Good to know they do at least have their priorities straight over with you in The Netherlands & you rightly didn’t have to pay. I’m still waiting, but with that reasoning I’m fully expecting to be charged the full postage then...! 🙁 (I’m not going to criticise our Royal Mail though, as to be fair I think they’ve done a good job throughout this whole pandemic & it’s not their fault that I, and many others, failed to read the fine fine print from those Kickstarter t&c’s).
  10. Awesome, thanks for this. I’ll definitely be giving it a listen as I love Rare games & think they’ve had some fantastic arrangements (David Wise, Grant Kirkhope, Robin Beanland we’re brilliant!).
  11. The game looks like great fun. I tried a few times last night to join a game, but unfortunately I think I was caught up in the volume of traffic, as I couldn’t get in. 🙁 Still, will try again.
  12. I agree. I think it’s right of Nintendo to port the better games from the Wii U. It gives them a greater audience and I imagine is a good opportunity for their less experienced developers to gain more experience & improve their skill set. What really frustrates me, like others, is that we only seem to be getting ports & there’s really little on offer to those of us this have supported Nintendo & purchased these great games originally to enable them to keep developing & produce games. Where’s our reward for sticking with them through their tougher times? I really hope it’s just the pandemic which has caused these huge gaps and that actually Nintendo are developing some exciting new games & are waiting to reveal them... I know we got Animal Crossing and a new Paper Mario, but that’s, what, 2 big games in 18 months? It’s really lacking & hugely disappointing.
  13. I used to often play Pikmin 3 on the gamepad only, which I expect is simply what they’ll do with this port. It just made the map accessible by pausing as opposed to being readily available on the second screen. Admittedly the experience was much more enjoyable and fluid with the second screen, but at least it’s still perfectly playable on just the one.
  14. Ok, that makes me a little more optimistic. I received an email yesterday saying my copy has now been dispatched (although it did include that note about Yetee not being responsible for any import taxes, etc outside of the US), so I guess I’ll find out soon if I’m going to have an additional charge.
  15. Day 30 - Personal Gaming Tradition I guess for me, I always immediately turn subtitles on, since most games with talking have it defaulted to off. I’m still not sure why, since I don’t do this with when watching TV! 😄
  16. Day 29 - Nicest graphics / art style Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS) One of the rarer 3DS games that actually made great use of the 3D effect. Turn that 3D slider up & it’s like peering into a diorama & added a lot more enjoyment to the game (plus I’ve already used up my vote for Wind Waker! 😁).
  17. Day 28 - Favourite DLC/Expansion Honourable mentions to Super Smash Bros Ultimate, The Last of Us, and any Professor Layton game, but I’m going for: New Super Luigi U Originally released as DLC, this was effectively a new Mario platformer, and even better, it starred the green plumber! The levels were shorter, with only 100 seconds limit for them, but I enjoyed the increased difficulty and the fact that there were over 80 levels to beat. Frantic, manic, haphazard fun!
  18. First things first, those voice impersonations were so much better than I was expecting! Great stuff! 😄 There really does seem to be a common theme of concern as to whether Nintendo do actually any other new games coming this year, which we’re all with you in thinking! Thanks for the recommendation of Edith Finch. I’ve got it but hadn’t built the motivation to give it a go, but that review has gotten me excited to get around to playing it. The back of the box game was enjoyable once again!
  19. Previous couple of days: And now, Day 27 - Best Boss Battle Mizar (Jet Force Gemini) At the time this was possibly the hardest boss fight I’d encountered. It took me so many attempts, but it was just so satisfying when I finally cracked it. Plus it earned me the chance at seeing what is, understandably now, likely to be the last Jim’ll Fix It inspired cutscene in a video game...!
  20. Mutant Mudds.
  21. I don’t understand the sheer popularity of Let’s Play streams either. Unless the person playing is good at the game (eg., speedrunners) then I struggle to watch & just get frustrated when they (fail to) do something I would’ve done if I was playing. Streaming the ends of games is a tough one. I don’t see a problem with it, especially, like you said on the Podcast, for games that are a few years old. I am heavily against spoilers though without warning (eg., putting a spoiler in the description or thumbnail). I’m still trying to avoid spoilers for games a few years old (or more) that I intend to play at some point (e.g., Mario Odyssey, Final Fantasy VII, Mass Effect), but you would expect to see the endings for streams playing through a game.
  22. Day 24 - Final Mission Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time For me it has been bettered in other games since, but at the time it felt like a suitably climactic conclusion to the best game I’d ever played.
  23. Day 23 - Licensed video game Sam & Max: Hit the Road I grew up as a huge fan of the Point & Click Adventure games, such as Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Day of the Tentacle and Toonstruck. Sam & Max: Hit the Road had great voice acting and made me laugh throughout. It may not have been the best of its genre, but it was hugely enjoyable & memorable. I haven’t tried the sequels released a few years ago, but they have a lot to live up to!
  24. Day 22 - Favourite playable character I could easily go with any of the 4 most popular mentions so far: Link, Samus, Guybrush Threepwood (Mighty Pirate), but my choice is: Mario He just controls brilliantly each and every time you play a mainline Mario game. So often I’ll play a game and blame each life lost on the controls & not my lacklustre skill, but I can’t make the same excuse when playing as Mario. Whether it’s bouncing off turtle shells, reaching P-speed or throwing Cappy around, he’s just a joy to control.
  25. Oops, missed yesterday: Today: Day 21 - Game that takes you back to your childhood Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Master System) The Master System was the first system I ever owned myself, so it was a toss up between this & Alec Kidd in Miracle World. My sister and I spent hours playing these games. I have such fond memories of Sonic, especially working together with friends from school to find all of the hidden Chaos Emeralds, hunting down the 1-up tucked away on every level, and discovering the secret route in the penultimate stage by complete accident after dying countless times. Every time I hear the music I’m taken back.
