Haha, silly you indeed. There was a second printing, so they may not have had it in stock if you've checked their website before.

€129 isn't too bad, then. Setting a reasonable price is difficult. I recently made something for a friend and we had a hard time agreeing on a price, because neither of us wanted to rip the other person off. You could always raise your prices and say it's art.

So did anyone other than Tales import this? I'm about four hours in and really enjoying it so far. The story is interesting and I like the time-travel mechanic. The combat system is different enough to feel somewhat fresh, but not so complicated that it gets in the way. Games like this is why the 3DS being region-locked bugs me so much.

Oh, for a second there, I thought you'd been selling your items at a loss. That would have been crazy! Yeah, I recently bought a bunch of magnets and similar things, and it ended up being quite expensive. But I guess you need to look at it as an investment. The actual cost per item is negligible - it's just that when you buy 50+ magnets at the same time, it's not so cheap anymore. So approximately how many of your items did your family sell? €129 sounds good, but I don't know how expensive your stuff is. :p

Clearly the solution here is to buy cheaper materials and put less effort into making things. You'll make your money back much faster that way! Have you been reading GoNintendo again, Ashley?

Blue Shift had new character/weapon models that could also be applied to the main game, yes. They went a pretty long way in improving the look of the game.

I really don't see how you get 'updated the gameplay' from a new physics engine, as it has little to no effect on the actual gameplay. If the levels had been redesigned to take advantage of the new physics engine, then I would have agreed with you. I guess I don't see how FPS games have actually progressed this generation. Things that Halo helped pioneer like replenishing health (or shields or whatever) and only being able to carry two weapons at a time are standard today, but that's really all I can think of, and they're already there. Other than that, I don't really see what makes Halo antiquated compared to, say Call of Duty (except, possibly, that it has less scripted scenes). The things that made the first Halo bad (reused levels/rooms, confusing level design...) were already bad when the game was new. It was always the multiplayer that made Halo stand out.

Gaming journalism at its best. Or, if you're GoNintendo, "it's best".

Some of those screenshots really remind me of Alan Wake. I recently played Origins and it made me hungry for more Silent Hill. Though I hope they manage to do something a bit different with this game, because Origins was Silent Hill by the numbers, for better or worse.

When they... what...? The only re-release I'm aware of is Half-Life: Source, which was basically the exact same game with prettier water and the physics engine from Half-Life 2.
-
To be fair, Half-Life is still great. It's just that Halo was never that good to begin with.

Molyneux has gone on record saying that the full game will not be on rails. Of course, he says a lot of things.

But ironically enough, not too lazy to travel to the UK. But really, posting the pictures here would have been pretty pointless if we can just click on a link and see them all on Facebook.

Decided to take a chance and imported a couple of RPGs that I didn't even know existed until a couple of weeks ago. Well... I had seen the box art for Radiant Historia before, but I didn't know what the game was about and I certainly had no idea that it was supposed to be good. It's always so exciting discovering new games! With a combined playtime of 80+ hours, these games should keep my brother busy for a while.

It reminded me of Caprica until everyone started dying.

I wish Beavis and/or Butthead would be quiet. :p

You could say that about almost anything, though. I never play online multiplayer, so there really doesn't need to be any multiplayer modes in games as far as I'm concerned. And then there are people who only play multiplayer, so if it were up to them, there'd be no singleplayer games/modes. :p I never understood the hate for achievements/trophies, since caring about them is entirely optional. I have a comparatively meager ~10,000 GS (and something like 300 trophies on the PS3). I have a friend who eclipsed my trophy count within two months, but he plays a lot of mediocre games and grinds a lot just to get trophies. I play through games once and rarely go out of my way to get achievements/trophies, not to mention spreading my gaming out over three current-generation consoles, two handhelds, the PC, as well as playing quite a few older games. It's just a number. It doesn't really mean anything. There are so many other things to complain about (region locking, tacked-on multiplayer modes to the detriment of singleplayer, publishers rarely wanting to take a chance on something that isn't an FPS, the second-hand market and how publishers are dealing with it, day-one DLC, gaming "journalists"...) that complaining about something as unimportant as achievements/trophies seems pretty pointless.

As someone who has never watched Beavis and Butthead (and hopefully never will, because... wow, that looks terrible), I just have to ask: does Beavis and/or Butthead spend every episode chuckling after every single line?
-
And some of us prefer not to watch trailers and have a bunch of stuff spoiled before the new season starts.

It's not racist if that's what they're really like. My view of people from Egypt may be slightly influenced by video games and episodes of Saturday morning cartoons where the main characters traveled back in time to ancient Egypt. I look forward to the next Qinc story, where Qinc and Ween will travel to Egypt to teach those savage Egyptians about the civilized ways of the British.
-
I guess I can see how implying that all Egyptians are homophobic could be offensive. Ah, you could always denounce this story later and blame the racism on the ignorance of youth.
-
Maybe this'll end up being your Tintin! Your rude, foul-mouthed Tintin. At least it should have less racism.

It sucks when you have a story you want to tell and it has all these amazing parts you know people are going to love... ... And then when you're telling the story you need to actually get to those amazing parts and it feels like everything else is taking forever. I wouldn't worry too much about the introduction being long. I think it's been fine so far. Out of curiosity, how long will Qinc be? I'm guessing you don't know exactly, but do you have a ballpark estimate?
