"And it does so, as with many contemporaries, because of the continuing emotional fascination for him of the superseded rural ethos legislated by a divine benevolence which led him to grapple with the contemporary cosmological problem in the context of a natural theology whose categories of thought had been rendered obsolete by the principle of evolutionary development." The. Fuck. Why can't people just say "We evolved which means God didn't make us, so this dude was a bit upset and wrote poems about it." Each essay I read is 20 pages of this shit. I just need to learn how to say the same thing in a hundred different ways and I'm set for life, yo.

N-E Culture Club - Lost In Translation 11th Jan
jayseven replied to jayseven's topic in General Chit Chat
Some good points. Book/Movie clubs are meant to expand horizons, so you can't expect choices you like to pop up each week. As I say, turns will be taken to suggest movies, perhaps a list could be worked out in advance. Some people will be more into suggesting art-house movies, some may be up for the mind-fuck movies, some may want to pick on blockbusters. I'm sure it'll be just as fun to defend your own choice of a classic as it will be to assault everyone elses :P -
Sorry, thought it was serious business.

Yeah, we could very easily do both. I'll get the title edited and stuff. Anyone willing to put their names down on the yes/maybe list? Prossiblaybe. Depends on the book and sschi like that. -

Movie club could be good. Again, I'm not sure how willing people would be to rent/buy movies, but of course movies are easier to 'acquire', and all that. -

To be honest, I don't know :P It's just not the most efficient way of doing it. Could be done a lot better, plus there's a danger that people will lose interest as it goes on. There's no list of people who want to vote, so voting will end arbitrarily based on time, so as it goes on it'll take less votes to get through a match, leading to unfair match-ups in subsequent rounds. I'm probably just thinking too much, though!

I'm surprised he hasn't done more of that already! Surely he's going to re-release the song and cash in on this shizzle?

Three, I thought? 16 episodes each rather than a 24-strong season as per usual. Personally I thought season 4 was amazing, really turned the show into something else. I think people started watching the show expecting Castaway mixed with Eerie Indianna, and when everything started to change -- well nobody likes change. Love the show myself. Anyway; just finished The Wire Season 1. Good, gritty realism that isn't afraid to go at its own pace, and manages to flesh out a massive cast of characters very efficiently. I'm looking forward to the weekend so I can blast through season 2, I think! Which season would people say is best? Does it get better, or worse, or stay on par?- 3920 replies

so 32 matches in the first round, 16 in the second, 8 then 4 then 2 then a final... so that's 62 separate threads. Awesome :|
-

Fuck, man, this is insane. I had no idea India had such a recent run of trouble like this; ... Brit/US passports are clearly part of the reason why this has made the news properly, but actually at the Taj Mahal too?! Sheeeet...

TV shows is a frequent source, but I usually forget to wiki/imdb for it unless it's especially awesome. But you have a good point - I've been out of the 'new music' scene for aaaaages. I just rely on the odd individual lending me a CD here and there. Oh, and how could I forget the n-e Mixtapes? Oh yeah, because my name isn't Dan_Dare :P

Yeah man! You do Several excellent episodes, and the rest are always good. I know what you mean, man. America gets a larger domestic audience, so they can raise larger budgets for their shows. Mo' money means mo' smart people making better telly. Shame they get cancelled and shit. Grey's Anatomy is something on my list - I would've gotten around to it already but it doesn't come up in hear-say as much as other shows at the moment.- 3920 replies

Dante, those are hilarious!
-
Well according to what Dante said, looks like there'll be no time travel for the next 12 episodes. I guess we'll have the stupid Laurel and Hardy Ando and Hiro comic relief games still. Siiiiiiigh! All because they don't know what to do with a really cool power doesn't mean they should degradate the character until we hate him just so they can off him at some point.

Man, GLITCHES! In the first game I can only remember one occurance, where shorty managed to end up running around in the water where you first meet the Kryll. Crazy madness. But this game? First meeting was in a Horde game on Avalanche where a grub stood next to a lampost, started shooting at me and started elevating up the lampost, accelerating until he was about 100-in-game-feet into the air, without his accuracy impinged :P Had a few other grubs elevate to the top of the lampost's height, too. Plenty of times where I've simply frozen on teh spot - often where the floor beneath my character's rocked around a bit. Sometimes, as with the first game, I would be able to wave my controller at shorty and point to the screen, showing my character magically running at full speed without me pressing any buttons. Well I guess that's only two glitches, but the freezy one occured quite a few times. I could've sworn there were more, though.

I was thinking just that, Sheikah; You don't go around reviewing Laurel and Hardy films by todays standads arguing that "the bit where they swap laurel for a doll is really obvious" and "and it's only in black and white. If they had black, white and red then it would totally be a way more AWESOME movie"... One fair point is that the game is costing 1200 points, when you can buy a physical version of the game - but most people get it for free (amirite?) when buying nuts n' bolts, which should be cause for a different angle of the review.
